Good morning to all........Not much planned for the weekend.

DCL must be trying something new because we got our "cruise Packet" for our May cruise yesterday. It lets you know when final payment is due and when you can start making reservations online. It has sections on excursions, and talks about the rest of the ship including dining options. It is a very nice packet.

Dave

Dave,

The packet sounds neat....

Kritter, Hope I didn't insult you by asking if that was you in the Mary Poppins outfit. I wasn't sure of your age, but now I know you're probably younger than me! But I still feel like I'm in my 20's.....isn't that what's really important? ;)
Oh my gosh I was just teasing you that is all..please please do not mind at
all....That would be funny if it was me...I could have that as mypart time job.....
Drew will make a cute jack sparrow...Dh will not wear a tux either just a suite......Maybe you could get a cute pirate cotume for kylie???
Hope you had a great day...

Hello everyone....

Just checking in.... we'll be off to a birthday party in a few minutes (? on a friday at 5:30PM... so we allow 45 minutes for cutting through LA traffic to get there). And tomorrow we're visiting the LA Auto show. We got some free passes from a neighbor who works for GM out here.

So our weekend is pretty relaxed by my standards.

We HAD a fun weekend planned....Kylie, basketball on Sat., then to visit with my brother and girlfriend (I wish I could say wife, but hopefully SOON!). Sunday, kids have gymnastics after church and religion class.....then we were hoping to go see my neice's basketball game. Well, all plans on hold since Kylie woke up vomitting at 1am this morning :crazy2: ....which explains why I'm up! Poor baby....she gets so upset when she's sick. And when I told her she will have to miss basketball, she was even worse. She hates to miss out on things. I'm glad it wasn't last weekend though, she had 3 birthday parties to attend. She would have had a fit if she had missed them.

That IS the worst. Nothing is worse for me than when they are vomiting. In fact, I handle it so poorly ( I gag and then I throw up) Craig must handle it. My kids are pretty well trained form the second they "think" they might get sick to RUN to the bathroom. Needless to say, I feel for you and poor Kylie. Three birthday parties in one weekend is a LOT!! There are so many germs everywhere, when my kids attend lots of things they tend to pick up anything that might be there. That's why although it may seem excessive, I love Disney's policy of making everyone grab a hand sanitizer before entering any of the dining rooms, buffet line or kids clubs.
I'm sorry your weekend was not what you planned. I hope Kylie is feeling better. Sometimes a down day helps big time, my kids aren't out of thier pj's. It is so awful here. It has poured all day (57 degrees) and it will be snow (in the low 20's) by morning. Crazy weather in New England!

Which reminds me Go Pat's!!!

Oh so sorry to hear that Kylie is not well...So hard at this time of year...Watch some movies and relax...Please let us know how she is doing....
When we got the stomach thing last year we all had it at one time..Like Princess said I do nto do well either with it...It was hard Bruce and I were throwing up and so were the kids...We ended up taking hope to the hosptial she was vomitting so much..I hate it when they are sick...
We seem to be having a ton of colds here in this house...Sinus infections etc...Never really had a winter like this one...
Warm here today...
take care and I hope you and the rest of your family do not get sick...

Hi Princess...how are things????

buckifan................sorry to hear about the tummy troubles. NOTHING is worse than a vomiting child. :wizard: Here is some pixie dust for you.

I had to take our dog to the vet this morning for her bordatella (sp?) shot, since we are going to Disney on Friday. (Kelly competes at the Wide World of Sports 1/20) They wanted me to make an appointment for the dog for her "semi-annual" check up. Now, this is a dog we got from the pound 4 years ago. She stayed at the vet's "Pet Resort" when we were in California for the West Coast cruise in July. She got ALL her shots and a check up then. Clean bill of health. Now they want a semi-annual exam too? I told the vet tech. that I don't even take my KIDS to the dr. twice a year for a check up.....so I'm not doing it for my dog! anyone second that?
(Please don't tell me we have a vet on this thread! :flower3: )

Fran

Thanks for all of your concern about Kylie. She seems to be doing much better now. I'm hoping none of the rest of us get it! She is not so good about running to the toilet. For some reason she thinks if she is feeling like she could throw up, and she goes to the toilet.....the toilet will make her feel worse. So, she usually tries to hold it in until she absolutely can't hold it any longer....and usually doesn't make it to the bathroom. That's exactly what happened at 1am! That goodness for Resolve carpet magic....and I just shampooed the carpet upstairs. Guess I'll put that on my "to do" list for this week.

Fran, I totally agree with you about the vet. Our 12yr old Sheltie "Beau" gets groomed every couple of months at $50 a pop. And next month he's going in for a teeth cleaning. They have to put him under anesthesia for it....so it will run a couple hundred or so. And this of course, does not include regular shots, etc. Our new addition "Sloopy", a Pomeranian, has luckily not required any grooming yet. I was surprised since he has such a fluffy coat, but just bathing and brushing at home has been all he requires, and he looks great. But we are getting ready to take him in for his big "snip-snip". He was not fixed when we adopted him, and the vet wanted him to recover from a terrible skin condition before he had his surgery. These little guys are expensive, but we love them so!

Fran,

I agree with you...It comes to a point that how much money are the vets going to suck you for??? We have a blind cat and they wanted us to take him to tufts university so they could test him to see him they could restore his eye sight..Been blind since we adopted him..But they were talking thousands of dollars...Dh and I said no way..He does fine with the way his eyes are...The vet looked at us like we were crazy or soemthing..But come on??It is sad how he became blind someone his old owner burned his eyes with a cigarette and then tied him and his sister up into a garbage bag and threw him and her out...A student of this teacher found him and called this teacher Harriet who takes in adbonned animals..She took the cats nursed them back to helath and then puts ads in the paper that they are up for adoption...So kind of her....

Buck,
Glad to hear Kylie is doing better....Hopefully your carpet will return to normal...Hope all is well in your house now..Just made a pot of your soup this morning and am going to have it tonight for dinner...Thanks again we really love it...Yummy...then we can have left overs for tomorrow as well..Since it is the holiday we are all home tomorrow as well...I assume your kids are too??So that will give kylie another day to get better..My Dh and I are off to NYC this week for the night...He has a businees meeting there and we are going out to dinner and a show...with some friends who live there...So it will be the not so normal week..I have to pack the kdis up so they can go to grammies house for the night...But it should be a ton of fun...I like it when I have something to look forward to...Since the weeks all seem to blend in and are the same thing week after week...
Been working on making vacation plans for the summer...Rented a house on the beach in Cape Cod for a week...Dh and I will also be going to Washington for a business trip for four or five days...Then it will be fall and the cruise...Any one else thinking of plans for summer vaction yet??

oh you are terrible...Well you will have a ton to tell us about then..how many days????

TchermomThe double dip sounds really nice.....

... we've never done a back 2 back sailing before (on any line). But maybe we'll git 'round ta it some time.

So - Buckifan, we're glad the illnesses are fading away. That leaves some of the long weekend as productive for your family.

We still have to plan for something to do this summer. We have some unrestricted AA flight vouchers good for Hawaii that we have to use by August. And this actually does not suit us too well as we prefer to visit during the holidays to catch up with expanded family and such. SO - maybe we'll have to make for a mid-year visit AND then set up for a return again in December - unless AA grants us a courtesy variance tto use our vouchers later in the year.

Which brings us back to planning something to do as a vacation this summer. Does anyone want to volunteer their summer ideas?

OK... gotta run

:( *******Whine alert******* :(

Being that my husband is a landscape architect, we never get to take summer vacations as a family. His firm is so busy from spring to fall, and he is the only landscape architect there, so he doesn't ever get to take time off during these months. By late October, they are usually slowing down... which is why we are cruising then. We try to make small trips to Cedar Pointe or King's Island. Since they are in both in Ohio, we can make a long weekend of it. We may go up to Chicago in Sept. to visit my former College roommate.

BUT.....dh remains with this firm because they treat him GREAT, and he NEVER works on weekends, and he's almost always home by 5pm. So, we feel it's worth the sacrifice of not getting family vacations in the summer. :)

The kids and I are home today. Drew has a paper on Martin Luther King due tomorrow that he needs to work on some more today. No big plans.....

we've never done a back 2 back sailing before (on any line).

Boy, I wish we were doing back to back cruises!

The Double scoop cruise is a 7 day cruise on the Magic, with a western iten. They dropped Key West for this cruise so you go to Castaway Cay the first day, Sunday and the last day, Friday. Dh and I are not that crazy for Key West..........so we decided what a great way to start and end a cruise!

Fran

Buck,
I think that your DH's job sounds wonderful and the not working weekends for a landscaping company is well worth it...So the cruise in OCt. will be welcomed vacation...Being home by five I would trade a summer vacation to have my DH home by then..He usually is not home till..7 or later any night of the week...

My Dh is home today which is rare but since the market is closed so is his company..Wish he traveled less and had to work less hours but then we all have to make our "little" sacrifices..Right???

Hope you enjoy the day with the kids..Dh is downstairs putting a star wars lego ship together...FUN FUN!!!

Hi guys...
Just signed up for the 10-28 cruise and am sooooooo excited. Will be travelling with DH and DDs ages 11, 9 and 7 on our first family cruise. Would love to hear from anyone with children of these ages.

:goodvibes

Welcome, mcchelse!

We also have a dd who will be 11. Her name is Kelly. she goes by the screen name gymbugl7.

This will be our 7th Disney cruise, so if you have any questions XLT (dh) and I would be glad to help out. There are also many others on this thread who have probably cruised just as much as we have.........so don't hesitate to ask!

Fran

Sara, so glad to hear you are cruising with us. My name is Deanna, and dh is Rob. Drew is 10 (will be 11 at time of cruise) and Kylie is 6 (will be nearly 7). This will be the first cruise for all of us. Our kids don't know anything about the cruise.....we are surprising them.
