mcchelse,

welcome welcome!! My name is Kristin Dh is Bruce and we have twins who will be four and a half at the time of cruise..Their names are Hanna and Hope...

This will be our first cruise together...So glad that you will be joining us...
Kristin

Welcome aboard (in advance) Sara!

May I venture a friendly gesture of greetings acorss the internet ether from myself (Tom, 42); my dear spouse of 12 years Alicia 42, and our daughters Julianna (5.5) and Kalea (2.75).

I believe we will have a really nice group for the cruise assuming our crowd will be similar to the large DIS crowd on the 2005 Halloween Magic sailing. THAT thread has about 85+ DIS entities who posted 10,000+ entries on a thread that drew 85,000+ HITS!!!! That's nothing short of simply extraodinary. I think if we had just about 20% of that then we'd also have a "blast" as a DIS group. :wizard:

We've sailed the Magic 3x for our anniverseries... and this is our 1st departure from that routine for a Halloween schedule. Beyond that - we've cruised a few times on other lines - so we might be able to lend an opinion or two - like Tchermom below. But - I think that if you have selected the Magic Halloween sailing as a 1st cruise - than you seem to have already done some "homework". Plus you probably know how to search the forums for past threads on probably every topic under the sun.

At any rate, back to other things....

Yahooo!!! My new zoom lense arrived today! It's rather nice (as hoped) as I really bought it without handling it much in advance. It was decided upon entirely from reviews and forum remarks! SO - tomorrow I'll be trying it out to test it's basic functions and performance. I hope it works out A-OK as I wanted it to use on the next sailng we have scheduled for Valentines week on the Carnival Spirit.

And ... I trust everyone had a fair holiday weekend? Ours was pretty relaxed. We hit the local beach - it was really cool - but it was sort of quiet as only locals were out and about. But even so - with the cool weather the kids had a fair time running about in the sand. My "chicken" spouse and I (equally chicken) swapped sitting in the car to stay warm... while our fearless children ran about ... but not in the water.

Anyways..... I gotta go check the Cruise Critic Cruise meet thread I posted. You know... we are actually quite fortunate to have such an active and enthusiastic group to add to our fun and infrastructure. The CC Carnival threads seem to all have VERY LIGHT activity. WIth the possible exception of a few special Cruis Critic sailings ... all the cruise meet threads go with ZERO to a dozen participants. On my sailing I only have 3 other folks to kibbitz with - and one of the 3 is sailng on another date - and just pops onto my thread because I was helping to bump his thread AND answer on some general cruising Qs.

So we are indeed lucky to have this chance to share thoughts and good will among fellow passengers for the cruise!

OK... gonna go now... :faint:

TTFN!

Hello Sara.....welcome to the group. DD Kelly will be thrillled with another 11 year old to hang out with.

Buck.....I can take vacation pretty much anytime I want ( I only get 4 weeks plus holidays :rotfl2: ) In fact I usually have a hard time getting it all in and we either use it or lose it. My sacarfice though is sleep. My cell phone rings at all hours of the night. Last night I got home at 9:30 and left the house at 3:30. Tonight I have to leave the house at 1:00am. And Fran lives with the fear of being transferred at any time. We have lived in Atlanta, Memphis, Pittsburgh and Tampa in the last 12 years. I never miss kids activities though because I have such a flexible schedule.

Dave

glad to see everyone had a nice weekend...
Dave what do you do for work again??

Hope all is well..DH and I are off to NYC tomorrow morning so I will not post again probally till Thrus. night or Friday morning..Looking forward to getting away even if it is for just a night...seeing a few shows....
Should be fun. then next sat we are back there for a party for one of the general Agents for Dh work...
Kristin

I'm going to venture a wild guess....

.... Dave works with the TSA, or a firm that is involved with the military/spy comlex or the Govenrment in some capacity. Or maybe Dave is a secret agent since he has flexable time and never misses the kids activities. Otherwise.... it sure sounds like a nice situation with some ocassional chaos with the off hour demands! :confused3

I vaguely recall Tampa had a global command center for the military... but otherwise - I think there are just garden variety military facilities in or near the other cities (more or less).

Captain.....you are correct on 2 of your statements:
1....It was a pretty wild guess
2...Tampa does have a military command center

I work for a National Newspaper in Circulation and Operations and we have offices all over the country.

Wow! This is so cool! I'm not nearly as computer savvy as I would like to be and have no idea how to navigate around threads, but I'm blown away by actually posting something, being able to find it, and receiving replies!

I showed my 6 year old, Madeline, a picture of Kylie and as she was walking to the screen, she said "Look, mommy, there I am!" They say everyone has a twin, I think she's found hers.

Fran, can my 10 year old, Chelsea, chat with your DD on these boards - or is there another place kids can get to know each other? While I've told her there will be tons of kids on the cruise, she loves the fact of knowing a name of a fellow cruiser. She would really enjoy chatting with Kelly.

Thanks to everyone for being so open and inviting. I know I'll have oodles of questions as I pour over my Passporter and it's nice to know there are so many poeple to bounce these questions off of. Sara

We have lived in Atlanta, Memphis, Pittsburgh and Tampa

And.....let's not forget Nashville. All that folks in the past 18 years of marriage! And for more amusement....we've built a home 4 times, and lived in apartments while each was being built.
But alast....I love XLT........what was it we said in our wedding ceremony? Something about whether thou goest, I will go? Something like that........ :rotfl2:

mcchelse.......I will pm you our email address. Kelly would love to chat. :sunny:
Have fun, kritter!
Fran

Good morning all,
Dave sounds like you have an awesome job..

Sara so glad that you will be joining us...I need to get that passporter thanks for reminding me...heard a new one is coming out in April so I may wait...

Off to the city it is windy and raining here not a fun day for the city...Will see you all tomorrow...

Sara,
Welcome,..you are gonna love your cruise, and this thread! The people posting here are so nice.
My name is Kelly, DH (Ben) and DD (Holly is 9) and DS (Joe 4 will be 5 at cruise time). My daughter is also looking to talk to anyone her age, this will be her first time to cruise w/o her cousins. So send us a pm when ever, Holly would love to share her experiences w/ DCL.

Sara, How cute that your daughter and Kylie look alike. I'm sure they'll be chums onboard. You'll have to post a picture of your kids. I'm not very computer savvy either, but honestly it wasn't too hard. Kritter explained how to post a picture with my signature on post #158.

I read last night on one of the threads that disney is planning something BIG (in the works) at CC, and rummor has it that it will be done by late summer, or so...if this is true we may be some of the firsts,..ok,..maybe thousands to expierence it. :goodvibes
Has anyone else read or heard anything about this?? :confused3

How exciting!!!! I can't wait to find out what it is!!

Has anyone seen the Disney on Ice Princess Classics show? I'm taking Kylie to see it on Friday Feb. 3rd. She loves ice skating and she loves the princesses, so I'm sure she will be on :cloud9:

Hi guys...
Just signed up for the 10-28 cruise and am sooooooo excited. Will be travelling with DH and DDs ages 11, 9 and 7 on our first family cruise. Would love to hear from anyone with children of these ages.
Sara

Welcome Sara,

We also have a DD age 7. We sailed last November and we all had a great time. I am sure that your family will have a blast this October.

For anyone that is needing a taste of the tropics, I am sure that "Goofy Drives a Car" could be talked into sharing the Konk Kooler recipe on the posts. :drinking1 They are great and help get you in the mood for the Islands, when you are trying to survive the longer winter months. pirate:

Well, if he won't come here (it's 60 degrees) and make me one, the he should post it!

Who ever gets to deck 9 last is buying!

I have that konk Kooler recipe! Just the thing to put you in the mood for a Disney cruise...............IF that has ever been a problem for anyone. Who has NOT been in the mood for a Disney cruise????????? :confused3

Think good thoughts for Kelly tomorrow afternoon. She will compete at Disney's Wide World of Sports at 3. We are spending the night at Pop Century, then spending Sat. in one of the Parks. :bounce:

Just passin' through and catchin' up! Welcome aboard Sara (?)... AKA... mcchelse...

Now you know you are among friends here. It's going to be one fun and slightly scary cruise for sure! And with your family aboard I'm sure it'll be just a bit "over the top!".

:cool1:

So as for the Castaway Caye "enhancements". I just read through what I think is the main thread .... and it seems conclusive that it is mostly a hot rumor. Logic suggests that the CC would be an easy area to enhance with a developement... but no one seems to have anything conclusive. However, it was mildly entertaining to go through it... and I just posted my 2 bits on what I though might develope ... if anything comes of it. :wizard:
