kritter,
The person on our cruise that started the Trick ot Treating ( Thanks GINGER)had everyone sign up that wanted to participate in handing out candy from their staterooms, we had to list our names and stateroom #. We had a sign up for the kids who were participating and their ages, I think 13 was the cut-off. there was a dead line about 10 day's before sailing. WE had trick or treating signs to post on our door's to show we were participating. WE had group leader's who volunteered to lead the Children in groups so there wasn't too many kid's going to the same door at the same time. There was a list made with the group leader, the Kid's in Their group, and the stateroom's of those passing out the candy, each group leader got their own list. . WE all met in costume at a particular place. Each stateroom that was passing out candy had to sign in to make sure they were still participating and they were given a trick or treating sign to put on their door to show the group leader's they had signed in. The group leader's had to sign in and were given their list of staterooms passing out candy , the names of the Kid's in their group and the order their group was to go. Everyone got in their group and gave the people who were passing out candy a few minute's to get to their stateroom and then we started. I think we had about 5 or 6 groups and they started out on different floors with everyone finishing up around the same time. When your group was done you went back to your begining location to wait for your parent's to pick you up. It took about an hour from start to finish. We took photo's before everyone started. The only problem we had was having such a large crowd meeting in one area.We met in the atrium but had to move several times as we were blocking people. Each group leader had a mickey shaped paddle that had their group # on it that they held in the air. It made it easier to find your group. We don't have any children but would love to participate again if anyone wants to head up this prodject. I am sure there are a lotof people on here with lot's of idea's to make this even easier.

Teri

Terri,

Love the idea of this.. I would love to cooridinate something like this...The only thing is you said you had people sign up ten days before I am going to be in WDW for the seven days before we cruise...But maybe you would be willing to assist me with this??? We still have time and you are right others might have ideas and be willing to volunteer...so excited and can not wait to plan out things for all of us to do...I love this kind of stuff....
So glad that you have already been on the halloween cruise before so you can help us out with the planning....

I'm sure your daughter will LOVE it :cloud9:
Are you new to the DISboards? There is SOOOO much info on here, explore and enjoy :surfweb:

Kristen, I'll keep my eyes :surfweb: & ears :listen: open for those MNSSHP dates.( I just luv the smilies)

Oh thanks they really did well for the picture this time...great I will let you know if I hear anything as well..I told my friend in Florida to let me know if she should hear anything as well......

kritter- Let me correct. we started signing up as soon as anyone was interested. The cut-off for signing up was 10 day's prior to the cruise. That way everyone would have their trick or treating bags made up and ready and the person doing the group leader's list's would have time to get everything done.

Teri

Thanks to HollyandJoe'sMom and Kritter for the warm welcome. We are super excited to be joining you all. Definitely want to participate in the trick or treating as well as the mickey icecream bar eating contest. Sounds fantastic!

I am new to the DIS boards, but have done quite a bit of reading to catch up! Have posted previously on the cruise critic boards for other cruises. It is such a super way to find out EVERYTHING you want to know (I am a compulsive planner)!

kchartsf.......welcome to DIS and to our group.

Teri...Charleston is not that far from the world. You need to make a long weekend trip.

Hope everyone is feeling better and water heaters are fixed.

Kristen.....looks like you are officially the trick or treating coordinator. :cheer2: This should be a lot of fun.

Back to work I go :surfweb:

Hi Everyone. Just catching up.

Kristen, How are the party plans? Olivia had a relatively good birthday weekend. We had her friends sleep over and did build a bear and dinner at RainForest Cafe. They were happy. The downer was the passing of my best friends dad. Wake was Sunday and funeral yesterday. Just turned 61. It was too sad. To make matters more stressful on the way to the wake( my mother was actually one of the man's best friends) my mother called and my grandmother passed away. To say the least I'm stressed and exausted. All those arangements are tomorrow and Thurs.

After our trip in March I will begin to become obsessed with this cruise again. I'll be back with full gusto. Sorry for the slacking. Hi Crash and Deanna and everyone else that's joined in my absence from the board. I've been trying to think about Halloween costumes. I am so bad at that. The kids are getting older (9 and will be 8) so the Disney stuff isn't flying so well. Although, Olivia did say she might like to Minnie mouse. We'll have to wait and see what good movies come out this year and see if they can inspire me to dress up. I may just sit back and enjoy all of your costumes!!

XLT800 - Yeah Disney is pretty close it takes us about 7 hours to make the trip. We have done weekend trips before but it is a quick trip. WE have been to Disney World 40+ times. We do have Disney's Hilton Head Resort close. It is only 2 hours away. WE Love going there too, but there is no substitute forr DW. Anyway We are anxious to go back since it has been almost a year since we were there.

Princess Olivia- Sorry to hear about your loss, especially your GrandMother. :grouphug:

Hope everyone had a great day.

For those of you, who have sailed the Halloween cruise before:

If Halloween falls on the night of another themed meal, like Pirates night, do they move Pirates night to a different night, or combine the two occasions? The reason I ask is because I plan on making Halloween costumes for our family and pirate costumes, but if these fall on the same night, which it looks like they will, I will have to scrape the pirate costumes.

Thanks for any and all replies! pirate:

Jen, So sorry to hear about your loved ones' passing. My Grandma is my little angel here on earth, and I can't imagine the pain you must feel right now....I will keep you in my prayers.

Kritter, your plans for the twin's birthday sound so cute. I do the same thing every years for my kid's birthdays......one with friends, one with family, and then a little celebration on the ACTUAL birthday. I'm driving myself crazy too, but it won't last forever since they are only little once!

akghutton, Now I'm not certain of this, but I did speak to someone from Disney and she said they will most likely not have Pirate night the same night as Halloween. But she also said there is no guarantee they will still even be doing Pirate night, but probably will since it has been so popular. So.....how's that for NOT answering your question! But, that's all the info I have.

Wow, I don't know that I'm going to be able to wade through 56 pages to figure out who's on this cruise and get caught up! Yikes!

The last Disney cruise I was on, we started a thread with the first post containing the names, ages, arrival dates and seating of everyone who checked into the thread, which I kept continually updated until sailing time. Would you all mind if we started a new thread? I would be more than happy to keep the first post updated with the pertinent info. :) You can check it out here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=546879

I will find time at some point to read through all these posts, it seems that someone has volunteered to coordinate trick or treating, thank goodness! That just sounded so overwhelming!

Thanks so much for your thoughts, I'm excited that there are so many outgoing people on this cruise!

Sherry

Thank You all for your kind words. I have a little time before the wake and decided to distract myself for a few minutes.

Kristen, you said you LIKED the color of the bathroom already! Did you stay purple? Mother pressure? I have to give you a ton of credit for the girls party. I had many parties for the kids, however the majority were done somewhere else. I do have the family parties at home but they aren't nearly as large as the "kid" parties. Olivia's official birthday was Monday. We( Craig took over Sunday) litteraly did something Friday, Saturday , Sunday and Monday. I think I over compensated because I didn't have a big "kid" party this year. We made it smaller but with much more detail. It was probably the most money we've spent on here birthday. I probably would have been better off with a "kid" party. It's just tough after Christmas. That child does not need one more thing. She did get a lot of spring clothes that are really cute. That does help. Oh, and Deanna she LOVED Jess.

I highly doubt that Disney will combine pirate night and Halloween. The characters have Halloween costumes AND pirate costumes. I would think they would want to utilize all options to make the cruise more distinctive.

I'm not sure I can handle a new thread. Is there a way we can start an information page from here? I am a terrible organizer. I will try to help Kristen the best I can with the trick or treating. I just don't want anything to overlap anything Disney has planned. I know that they do their own trick or treating on the ship.

Hey guys! AWOL has been compiling a list of all pertinant info from each poster. I imagine that he can post it or post a link to a site that we are the only ones that know about it. But, he left last night for a week long business trip to London. I'd hate for someone else to wade back through all these posts to create something that has already been done :)

Princess Olivia- Yes Disney does do their own version of Trick or Treating, but it was later in the day. We did the "dis board" around 11:00. They also had a big Halloween party at night. It was really neat.

Pirtate night was on a different night than Halloween in 2004, so I don't know how Disney would handle it if both fell on the same night.

Teri

Jen,
Hang in there...things will turn around and you will begin to feel better..

I agree with jen I think starting a new thread will only add to the confusion and we may loose peopel in the process Plus I feel like we have kept this thread going strong for a while now and it would upset me to loose this one....

I know that there is a way to go back and edit it...and we can add this info.. to the first page...Since I started the thread I will contact the moderators and see if we can edit it...Capt.. you be willing to help you helped me out before and you are good at this kind of stuff...???

Will let you all know what I find out...???

Just found out I can edit the first message since I did it ....so we can now put together all of that info to me I wil be willing to set it up and keep it updated..thanks...
