Hallmark Christmas in July 🎄 comfort & joy ❤️

I was so confused why they were advertising a movie that I was watching during its commercial breaks 😜. Each sister gets their own movie

Thanks. I was confused when I saw it listed for this weekend. I thought, "Some of us just talked about it on the thread. And I know I posted it in the weekly schedule. Did I post it on the wrong week?"

Oh, good, I have that one recorded. :thumbsup2 I'm running out of room on my DVR and had to skip recording some of the Lifetime movies that didn't sound very interesting. Their quality is iffy at times. I also have The Santa Squad recorded that someone else recommended.
I agree, Lifetime was too ambitious with a new movie every night. They are not all good…

Another "series" movie is premiering this Saturday on HMM. It's A Godwink Christmas: Miracle of Love. This is movie #4 in this series. While it is part of a series, all the movies are totally separate stories and have nothing to do with the other stories, except they have the same theme.

A "Godwink" is a coincidence or series of coincidences that are so incredible and hard to believe that they are just a coincidence. That instead, the hand of God had something to do with events lining up into the "coincidence." Each individual story is based on a true life story. We find out a little bit about the real people at the end of the movie.

(My favorite Godwink movies #1 and #2.)

#1 is A Godwink Christmas, starring Kimberley Sustad, Paul Campbell and Kathie Lee Gifford.
It re-airs this Fri, Dec 10 at 10pm ET on HMM,
and on Tues, Dec 14 at 4am ET on HMM

#2 is A Godwink Christmas: Meant for Love, starring Cindy Busby, Benjamin Hollingsworth and Kathie Lee Gifford again - but not the same character as the first movie.
It re-airs this Sat, Dec 11 at 6pm ET on HMM, (before the new movie.)
And on Tues, Dec 19 at 4pm ET on HMM

#3 is A Godwink Christmas: Second Chance, First Love, starring Brooke D'Orsay and Sam Page.
It re-airs this Sat, Dec 11 at 8pm ET on HMM, (right before the new movie.)
And on Mon, Dec 20 at 8am ET on HMM

Again, you don't have to see any of the other movies to see movie #4. But, if you find you like the series, you may want to see the others too.

Of the three, my favorite is "A Godwink Christmas: Meant for Love". My dad had the same condition as Cindy Busby's character.

I have this one on Tivo and tagged as "Keep", so it's not accidentally deleted.

Yes, I really liked how they dealt with the stuff that comes up with finding out one has a condition and how it affects relationships. I loved what Kathie Lee said to her about still deserving love. ❤ And I liked the signs at the end.

New to this thread but wanted to chime in. I Looove Hallmark movies! They are (usually) the best. Is it just me or this year have most of them fallen flat. So many of the pairings don’t have any chemistry. Also the acting just isn’t on par. So many of the seem like they are just the lines with zero emotion. It’s become comical.

:welcome: Welcome to the thread!

I love Hallmark movies too. To me, it's been a mixed bag this season. About 5 movies I thought were really well done. Some I liked, but are not ones to really rave about. And some are definitely duds. :crazy2:

Many of us have said there doesn't seem to be any new stories. There are about 12(?) plots that they do over and over. The way I look at the movies now is: is there anything interesting about the way they do this same plot? Does it hold my interest? Is there chemistry between the two leads, that keeps me watching, even though it's the same story again? popcorn::

There are two movies that I deleted last night as there was no chemistry between the leads. :headache:

I really love it when they pair Kimberly Sustad and Paul Campbell. Their movies are usually smart and they have great chemistry!

Now you have to share what you deleted. My DVR is getting full so I only have room for things worth watching 🥰

Okay, but I think people should watch a half hour and decide for themselves if they think the couples have chemistry. I think that falls more along one's personal taste. I might think a couple doesn't fit and someone else thinks they are cute together. To me, that's different than if I say a story doesn't make sense, or is boring, etc., although I did think there were problems too. (Disclaimer over. ;) )

The first movie I deleted was Christmas in Tahoe. The female lead, Laura Osnes looks about her age of 36 years old. But, she was paired with a guy who looked 25. I'm not against older women with younger guys, but it would be like Laura now being attracted to Justin Beiber, who is 25. I don't think he's her type. And the characters supposedly knew each other years ago and had a history together before he became a famous rock star. What? When he was 16???

As for being a rock star, the guy was dressed like an accountant. I read one review that said he looked like he was dressed for The Book of Mormon instead of a rock musical. :lmao:

Laura, is a Broadway star. She was Ella in Cinderella and Sandy in Grease. But, she was the only one who didn't sing in the movie. This is the second or third time they've done this. WHY do they keep putting her in movies where SHE doesn't get to SING while others do? Being singer adjacent doesn't cut it, when SHE has a major singing voice and they don't let her God given talents shine.

Then, comedian George Lopez was in this with a bitty role. WHY? I don't know. :confused3 I fast forwarded through most of the movie to see if they gave him a chance to use his comedic skills. If it was there, I missed it. And if they didn't give him a chance to use his talent, what waste of another talent. :sad2: And if it was there, I'm not watching again to see it. :headache:

The second movie I deleted, I was really disappointed about. I even kept it on my DVR, hoping to try later to finish it. But, I couldn't. It's Lacey Chabert's movie, Christmas at Castle Hart. Normally, I like Lacey's movies. She's probably my favorite Hallmark actress. I was really looking forward to this one. Especially as it was filmed in Ireland. (A place on my bucket list.)

But, not only did I think there was no chemistry with Lacey and the male lead. I had other fundamental problems with the movie.

The sister was annoying as heck. She was in it a lot and was overacting and just obnoxious. She made up a fib that Lacey originally went along with as she didn't know what was going on. But, later, when she did realize that she was expected to impersonate a famous "Martha Stewart" level event planner, she willingly went along with it. Even though they only have the skills of a waitress. Especially when she found out they would get perks like stay in the castle, get full room and board and spa amenities for free. The sisters seemed very self-centered. Especially when they realized they would be creating an extremely important event for a royal family, that if disastrous, would hurt the royal family, not them.

I'm never a fan of these plots where a white lie blows up into something out of control, but the lead means well. But, this was out and out deception that Lacey's character willingly agreed to do. They even tried to get a caterer in on it. She said no, as she knows the real event planner, and she needs to have a career once this fiasco is over and she finds out, which she will. So, it's not like the sisters weren't warned how bad their deception was.

Hallmark was the company that fired Lori Loughlin for lying and doing something she didn't realize was hurting other people. Yet, Hallmark is STILL making movies with storylines with liars in them, where it's all okay, and all will be forgiven in the end. Kind of hypocritical.

I really enjoyed the 9 kittens movies... because of the kittens :) And Brandon (because I loved him in the Arrowverse shows). I also liked that it was a few years after the first movie so it was interesting to see how it had turned out from that one.

I haven't been watching as many as I did last year, my son keeps asking why I watch them, they are all the same. And he will chime in with who will end up with who at the end. In general though, they do make me happy this time of year.

Yep, I'll be deleting this one as well. I agree, out and out lying in a feel good, Christmas movie just doesn't feel right. When it's all a big misunderstanding, I'm ok with the "whoops" concept. When it's a deliberate deception as described above, no thank you.

I just finished "Every Time a Bell Rings" while writing some Christmas cards. I almost ditched it at the very beginning because the grown sisters were kind of snotty with each other, but I decided to give it a few minutes, and was glad I did! (They got along better as it went on.) There were several little sub-plots, instead of just one "will they, won't they" romance, and while I think some of them could have been given a little more time, I enjoyed it overall. It spoke to sisterhood, adoption, marriage...and the main prompt was really sweet - a dad who had always made Christmas scavenger hunts for his daughters.

I enjoyed it. Yes, it's not up to Lacey's quality, but I wasn't turned off by it like the one where she went to Africa. I agree about the sister, I would find her annoying to work with.

I, also, almost stopped watching at the beginning for the same reason, but stuck it out. I thought it was better in the middle and not so much at the end. I won't be watching it again.

This is why I like getting different opinions on this thread. :thumbsup2 Now some people may have to re-record the movie if they deleted it after my review, to give it a try after all. popcorn::

Does anyone remember a Lifetime Christmas movie where they trolled Hallmark? There was a line in the movie where someone says something like, "After all, this isn't a Hallmark movie."

:lmao: Yes, I think it was a Melissa Joan Hart movie. Or a Mario Lopez's movie. Either of them have the snarkiness to have that in their movie. :lmao:

The lying was cringe, but it was the sister that killed it for me. So annoying! And I was so looking forward to a new Lacey movie. I haven't really enjoyed any of the new Hallmarks this year. Mostly I'm just rewatching favs from year's past.

So far the only movie I've really enjoyed this season was the Netflix "A Castle for Christmas" with Brooke Shields.
