How are you doing today? Were you going to do a long walk today?

Thank you for the encouragement.:goodvibes

How are your runs going?

Sandy
You were completely right in telling your DD to put your camera back the way she found it. I have a DB who isn't allowed near my laptop any more cause he always changes stuff on it. :confused3

Can't see the pictures at work, but I'll look at them this evening.

Sandy, excellent pictures! (And I know that you wanted to take pictures of the fall colors but I think they’re cool in b/w as well.) I'm sooo happy that you're re-inspired in your training and are not giving up! I can't wait to see you on your way toward that finish line in two months!

The only thing is 1: Don't rely 100% on being in front of that corral. You can't guarantee that spot on race day. Any number of things can prevent you from moving up to the front row. It'll be excellent if that's your spot but you can't count on it.

2: After reading you 2008 TR and reading things that you've posted on this thread about your 2008 1/2; you got caught up in the moment during that first mile in 2008 and went out way too fast. You paid big time for it later in the race when your energy was zapped and you struggled to keep ahead of the sweepers. Try hard to work up to 16 minute miles (if 17 is what you must maintain in order to not be swept) and practice being consistent. If you have to walk all 13.1 miles, that's fine. There are plenty of walkers. But this year focus on not starting out too fast and losing all of your energy within the first few miles. Also focus on trying to train just above the minimum pace that way you have a little cushion if something happens on race day to start you out a little slower than you should. If that happens, you’re used to training at a little faster speed and can hopefully play some catch-up.

How are your runs going?

(Apology: Sorry so long! I wasn't trying to write a book! Just getting this off my chest.)

The runs are progressing alright. I had a rough run on Wednesday but since it’s been awhile since I had a truly bad run, I guess that I was due. At least it was Wed and hopefully it won’t be for this Sunday on race day! Last Saturday I had mental struggles starting out on that 11 mile run but the 5 miles that I was supposed to get in on Wednesday was all physical challenges. I’m not certain as to what was going with my body but something was wrong. I started out and immediately felt hunger pains despite my atrocious overeating lately! It was a huge struggle and I had to force myself into each mile. I kept telling myself that it was ok to slow down to a walk for a few seconds but I’m stubborn and refused to do so. I had to run, I’m stubborn to believe that if I’m not running than I’m not training since I’m running this marathon. The 5 miles was scheduled for Wed and I had 4 miles scheduled for Thursday (yesterday). I finally told myself that I could swap the two, do 4 miles on Wed (which I did) and 5 miles yesterday.

So, by the time I finished running, I was shaking. So weird. My body must have had an “off” night. I’d eaten plenty that day but I did feel a lot better after I ate my dinner when I got home. So… The one good thing about stopping my run early: I was able to stop by the running store just before they closed to pick up my race packet for Sunday’s 1/2 marathon.

I didn’t get my 5 miles in last night, I’m going to try tonight but I’m still shaky but this time for different reasons. There have been some break-ins going on at my place. About 3 weeks ago a couple in my bldg had their apt. broken into and the guy took their dog along with other stuff. I’d already decided that I’m moving once my lease is up. I’ve been here for almost 4 years but this place is starting to go downhill. I was nervous for a few days after that break-in but when I didn’t hear anything else I finally calmed down. It’s still another four months until my lease is up. Then, Wednesday, after I came home from that bad run I found out about two more break-ins that occurred that day. One was my next door neighbor – the unit directly beside mine. It’s not just normal break-in’s. Whoever is doing this is a freak! He’s doing personal stuff to the apt’s that he’s breaking into. For example, my neighbor, a single female – like me – he took off her door panel after he kicked the door in, placed the panel under her bed and took off with her laptop and underwear. Yes, underwear. The other apartment that he broke into Wednesday (it was a guy who lived in that one), I don’t know what possessions he took from that unit but he crapped all over the guy’s toilet. It was really gross! I’m now totally freaked out! My apt. complex (when I first moved in was owned by a different property company and was a very reputable, upkept and safe place to live) refuses to acknowledge these break-in’s. They haven’t notified us about a single break-in and I found out from the maintenance guy who showed up to fix my neighbor’s door Wed night that there have been seven break-in’s in the last few weeks at my complex. My complex is a gated community. The gates have been stuck open for 6-8 months now. The office manager finally decided to fix the front gate and issue a new gate code. The problem is that the back gate is still jammed wide open. It’s stupid to fix the front gate and not do anything about the back gate.

I’m looking to break my lease. Per my contract it’s 60 day notice and more money than I wish to fork over to them but I find this unacceptable for this particular circumstance. I’m really scared and disturbed by what is occurring and the leasing office’s lack of attention to it. There are several things that they could do: Fix both of the gates. Notify us when a break-in occurs so that people are alert and not dismiss things. The neighbors of mine who had their dog stolen asked if they could set up a Crime Watchers meeting – let everyone in the complex know what is going on so we could all try to take some preventative measures and be alert to anything we find strange. The office manager refused and said that she didn’t want to “scare” us. They could also hire temporary security patrol until this guy is caught to patrol the complex and try to deter anyone from doing anymore break-in’s but since they refuse to even tell us that the break-in’s are occurring, they’re defiantly not going to go out and hire extra security at this time. Wait – scratch that – not extra security. Security period. We currently have none at all.

Of the seven apartment’s broken into over the last couple of months, 2 have been in my building and 2 have been in the building next to mine. I know where one of the other three break-in’s occurred and that bldg is a bit away from me. I don’t know which buildings the remaining two break-in’s occurred but they could have been next to my building as well. I’m close by the back gate. Easy in, easy out.

Due to the current situation and the lack of care by the leasing office, I find the termination clause unacceptable. This isn’t a “I just want to move”; this is a “I honestly fear for my safety and need to get the heck out”. The leasing office doesn’t give a flip. I have a call placed into corporate and want to terminate my lease with a 30 day notice. If corporate is reputable at all, they won’t make me pay the fee due to the circumstance. One of my friends lived in this complex with me and this past June she transferred to a sister complex in a different part of the metroplex because of work. She doesn’t have any of the problems at her new complex (owned by the same property management) that she had with my complex. So, I hope that this particular property is just a bad seed and that corporate isn’t and will work with me to get out of this lease. I refuse to stay any longer.

Sorry -I'm not trying to hijack this thread with my sob story. Because that all happened on Wed, I didn’t do the 5 mile run last night. I went to the new place that I'll move into and began getting things squared away. I’d already looked into this place for when my lease at my current apt. complex was up in Feb so; I already knew where I was going. The new place is awesome, I’ve done research on them and grilled them on security stuff since obviously, that’s a focal concern of mine now. They have an apt. with the floor plan that I want available as of this week-end (I’ll get to see it tomorrow) and they’ll hold it for me for 30 days in order to let me get out of my current situation.

I’m going to try to run my 5 miles tonight – but I’m so on edge and shaken right now. Next door! – and 4 of the recent break-ins have either been in my bldg or next to my bldg!! And I’m on an upper floor. I’m not ground floor. And this guy is mentally disturbed… it’s not just a normal come in, still valuables, leave break-in. My neighbor is under the impression that he’d scoped her out first, was aware of her schedule and there's the fact that he took off with her underwear!! This is just messed-up!

So, back to the 5 miles. I hope that I can run tonight but I’m still shaky as I’m sitting her typing this. I’m on edge thinking when I leave each morning: is today my turn to get hit?

eyorr: How is your training going?

Dolce That is unacceptable! I've watched enough Judge Judy and People's court to know you can move!! and to ask to move within the complex is a great way to ensure no extra monies for termination!
(I'm sure it may be a state by state case - but dont settle!)

In the meantime - we will ask the Lord to send his most powerful protection to guard your home - and your well being!! May the archangel Micheal protect you! For He will give His angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways.

The main thing to consider here is the interpretation of what you feel is a legitimate safety concern to yourself, a family member, or personal property. Being this is a subjective area of concern, the apartment manager or landlord cannot guarantee your safety and security so they will not do so for the liability issue. Regardless of what they do, you may still feel at risk and therefore have the right to insure your own personal safety by terminating the lease agreement. If you give them written notice (certified mail), and follow the procedure for their “right of cure" and then send them notice again (certified mail), then you have a strong case to terminate the lease and prevent further actions to be administered. Chances are they will not purse legal action for they know you have done the homework to prevail in court should they attempt to bring suit.

I would also talk to the local police and ask them how and what you can do since the company is neglecting your safety!!

Good luck! I'm so sorry you are going thru this - ITS NOT FAIR!

eeyor Hope all is going well!

Dolce I was also asking dh about the marathon course for you - esp about a couple of points that may give you (anyone!) problems - one was at a mile marker near Animal Kingdom - its those clover leaf road thingys you go up and sideways!! The one that bothers me is going up the hill by the Contemporary Resort - its important to do some hill work in the training!!

Sandy: Thanks for that information. I have now reached an agreement with my leasing office. Any renter has the right to terminate a lease and there is a section in my lease that I signed stating the termination fee and the notice. However, I never expected to be in this particular situation. 60 days, the notice length in my lease, is too long when you are worried about your safety. Also, it would have been nice to not have to pay the amount of money that I will pay in order to break the lease - but I'm going to have to suck it up and do it. Paying that money on top of moving costs is going to financially hurt but my safety is more important and I've gotten them to agree to allow me a 30 day notice instead of the 60 day.

I received the phone call ... I guess it's the guy just above my apartment manger (her boss) who called me. He was very defensive right off, but I guess he wasn't too happy with me after having received a phone call from corporate. He tried to deny or brush off a lot of things. He stated that there were only three (my downstairs neighbors, my next door neighbor and that man), and not seven apartments broken into. He said that I had a lot of "misinformation" and kept demanding who I heard this from and that from. I finally told him that I found a police blotter online showing that there was an apartment break-in at the end of August. Oh, he *didn't know* about that one. I also finally had to inform him that I was told by maintenance as to how many units have been broken into lately (I hope that I didn't get the maintenance guy into trouble! :guilty: We asked him and he was just being honest with us. He's the one that has to fix all of the doors after a break-in, he knows what's currently going on at this place). But the guy who called me wouldn't stop denying this or that until I could offer enough proof to shut him up. Obviously, he kept going over things such as: the back gate is not a security measure and doesn't prevent a break-in. I had to explain to him: I know. However, the gate that has been broken for six months shows neglect. I've lived in this place for going on four years now. The apartment complex behind us, across from that back gate, has only had their gate broken and stuck open once that I've seen in almost four years! When someone is casing out a place - where would they want to hit for certain? The complex that obviously maintains their property and has a gate that they'd have to work to get into or the complex that has their gates stuck open 24/7 with an easy in, easy out? I know that the gate is not going to stop someone determined to hit up this complex but the unfixed gate is basically a welcome flag for troublemakers and thief's!

He also denied that someone crapped in the man's (who apartment was broken into on Wednesday) toilet. He told me that the man "thinks" that someone may have used his toilet. I spoke with my neighbor a few minutes ago (the one who had her dog stolen a couple of weeks ago) and quizzed her on how she knew about the man and his toilet as she was the person to tell me about it. She found out directly from him. She and her husband spoke to him as he waited for the police to arrive. He told her everything that happened to his apartment. But, since I wasn't the person to hear it directly from him, the guy from my leasing office tried to brush that off as "misinformation". I could tell that he wanted to brush off my next door neighbor and the door panel placed under her bed and her stolen underwear but since she's my actual neighbor and I heard it directly from her, he quickly rushed past that one.

I know one way to get out of the termination fee is what you have listed above but it is too late for that now. The leasing office is furious that my neighbor got the word out about her break-in when the complex refused to notify us about it a couple of weeks ago. (Oh, and the guy kept going on and on about how they didn't legally have to notify us about break-in's. Maybe not but as another leasing office once told me: any reputable apartment complex will notify their tenants so that they can attempt to take preventative measures and be more observant about things going on.) So, apparently several people are showing up in the office upset about the break-in's and they (the complex) is finally being forced to be pro-active. Of course, they're crying that they've already been planning for all of this (that I'm about to list) before now and were just waiting to notify us about Wednesday's break-in's after they had a plan in action. I questioned about why he didn't notify us about the break-in three weeks go. He just stammered over that one. So now (because there's an outcry in the complex and they're being forced to *finally* take action - no other reason I bet you anything)

- They're trying to get a police officer to move into the property.
- They've asked the city police to patrol more heavily in this area.
- They're trying to get a Crime Watchers Meeting organized (funny, but they blew off a resident earlier in the week when she asked if they could have one. Suddenly, it's a great idea!)
- Gasp! Shock! The back gate was closed and somewhat working when I returned home today!
- They finally put notices on our doors today about the break-in's on Wednesday but made it sound like they just started... at least that's a start.

Hopefully they'll keep up with this type of pro-active stuff for the other residents. When you rent a property in a complex, you're paying them money each month to maintain the grounds, the area and any maintenance issue in your unit. You'd expect for them to not neglect things such as the gate. You'd hope they'd notify you of direct crime in the complex since that is occurring on property.

I'm out of here by November 30. I'm paying $$ to do it but I'm already feeling so much better than I was earlier today now that this is somewhat resolved. The place that I'm moving into has great security. They have video surveillance in the parking garage and all entrances to the buildings. They have several police officers living on property and there is a satellite police station in that area. Plus they have a hired security patrol. Nothing is 100%. I could still be broken into at this place but they've done what they can to deter someone from wanting to pick this place to hit instead of moving on to somewhere where there is easier access.

So, no 5 mile run tonight. :guilty: I just didn't feel up to it. So, my next run will be a 1/2 marathon. Thanks for the Disney tips! I know that everyone has trouble at that spot outside of Animal Kingdom. Hopefully I'll be mentally prepared and can tough it out.

(ugh! I just wrote another book - didn't I?? :sad2: I'm sorry.

Dolce - What a MESS. I am so so sorry!

Please keep us posted! I am so sorry that you are having to deal with that. Stay safe.

I did not walk today...My schedule starts Monday. :goodvibes I have spent most of the day cleaning, doing laundry, etc. It has been raining all day and it has been nice to have a day off life for a day. I believe this is the first day I have not worked any of my jobs in over 3 weeks.

The WW stuff is going well and I will be surprised if I have not lost some weight this week! :)

maroo: good for you on the weight loss and sticking with it! :thumbsup2

Hey, they posted the Endurance chat transcript. I'm reading it posted on the Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon thread on the WISH board. It may be posted elsewhere over there. Have you guys looked at it?

Dolce  The reason I posted, and the reason your phone call was sadly so confrontational - is that you WILL NOT have to pay the early termination fees IF you can prove your Safety is threatened - and that is why I say document - not so much talking to neighbors, but doesnt your police have a regular phone line and a community liason? You need to print off those burglary blotters - document!

I think you have a very good case and solution to move within the corporate apartments - into a safer apartment!

But only you can decide - I only watch law shows!! ;)

I have also watched that show on TLC I think where an ex crook breaks into peoples home - they set up cameras and watch him work - then they go about making the home safer and prevent their home for being a target on a theif's radar...

DO NOT WORRY about posting too much (so says the Queen of TMI!! - However, yours is not too much info, you need a place to vent, get it out - then re read what you write!!! :grouphug:)

Thanks for the head's up on the Princess HAlf :thumbsup2

When is your Half? Make sure to put it on the WISH Calendar thread!! That way you will have lots of people sending you positive thoughts and vibes!!

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2032237

Went looking for the Princess Course Dolce mentioned found a transcript of a chat that was interesting - answering questions for all of the Disney Races (that Wine and Dine one that is a relay - 2 people there is a designated spot to 'change' and that the wine and dine will be into the "wee hours".... hmmmm....

and > Is the Princess Race run on the same course as the 13.1 mile course of the Walt Disney World? Half Marathon through the Magic Kingdom? Park and then a finish in Epcot??

Kecia: Rebecca, Yes, the Princess 1/2 Marathon course is the same as the course for the Walt Disney World Half Marathon. However, the course Entertainment is themed for Princesses. >

Dolce did you see this? >>>
I am registered for the full marathon and I am signing my family up for the plat cheer package. What is the two reserved chear zones on the course? What time is the brunch served?

Mary: John, We will have two locations on the course for chear zone, but they have not been determined yet. Stay tuned for the next newsletter for more detailed information and times.<<<<

:yay: Did FIVE miles today! Slow and steady took app 85 min (give or take a few minutes, give or take a few tenths of miles! I dont have a pedometer but I used google pedometer 5.094 app since its hard to tell in the park!)

I listened to a tad too much Simon and Garfunkel! :rotfl: I really need to update a few of my playlists!! I do enjoy Donny Osmond tho!! I listened to "Its Possible" Anything is Possible... and "You've got a Friend in me"

Halfway thru my route - I ran smack into DH ! :rotfl: He was doing his 12 mile - funny to stop hug kiss, and continue on!!

69 more days till the Donald... :faint:

Awesome job today! You know, as much as I love music, I decided at the beginning to not train with an ipod since Disney discourages the use of ipods during the race (although I do plan to carry mine on me incase I need an emergency break-out around mile 18 since I won't be running with anyone for motivational support) and, believe it or not, I don't miss it. (I'm actually surprised by this! I'm that much of a music lover.) HOWEVER, if I wasn't so stubborn and would allow myself to train with music my playlists wouldn't be S&G and Donny Osmond. I think that I'm just a little bit younger than you are :lmao: I have no idea which Donny Osmond songs you just listed - I don't think that I've ever heard a Donny Osmond song before!! :rolleyes1

...69 days until the Donald mean 70 days until the Mickey!! :scared1:

To answer your questions: My 1/2 marathon is tomorrow morning at 8:00. I'm ready! Since I haven't ran since Wednesday, I'm eager to run. I hate that I ended with Wednesday's bad run but since most people never have two bad runs back to back (and I haven't before either), I'm praying that I have a really good run tomorrow. My goal is to be as close to 2 hours as possible. I won't know if this is achievable for me until after tomorrow morning. But, I'm really excited as this is my first race! If I do good tomorrow, I can take my finishing time to the Expo at Disney and hopefully bump up a corral for the marathon.

Oh, and I do know about the cheer packets. Thanks for mentioning it. Since I'm signed up for the race retreat, I'm going to purchase the Gold Cheer Packet for my mother so that she can join me in the race retreat for brunch after the marathon. I think that I have everything figured out with her: She's going to drive & park at the MK. Start out there to watch me run down Main Street. Stay for park opening and hang out in the park for an hour or two as it has been 10 years since she was last at the MK. Take the monorail over to EPCOT and get the Cheer bleacher seating to watch me finish. Eat brunch with me in the tent and go back to the MK. I'll go back to my hotel and spend the afternoon icing and stretching and doing everything that I can to try and prevent walking around like a little 'ol granny for a few days. Then we'll meet up at the Poly resort for Dinner at Ohana's and watch the water pageant parade and Wishes from the Poly beach after dinner.

I haven't seen the water parade since I was 5 years old. We were staying at the Contemporary Resort (I guess this was 1984?). It was me, my parents, my sister and my grandmother (dad's mom) and my mother walked me and my (3 year old) sister out to go and sit down by the lake to watch the parade. I recall there being a lot of people out there for it that night.

wait - you're ALL younger than me??? :scared1:

:dance3: LOL (I figured as much!)
(of course, I'm glad you have stuck around with me! I'm thinking I've scared off a few others!!)

The Donny Osmond Album is actually all Broadway tunes - It's Possible is from Suessical (which I havent seen - but I love the rich voice of Donny!! S&G do have to go tho :rolleyes1)

ITA about the ipod - do NOT use while in race - I only wear one ear bud - I need the distraction!! IF you can run without it - I think that's fine - I will say that I carried it with me in '08 and NEVER used it, didnt need it - there is so much to see, hear and just "be" at Disney - you will not miss it!! (and in fact will not WANT to have to carry it for the 3 - 5 hours of the race!!)

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow - bright and early!! :dance3:

:cheer2:RUN DOLCE RUN :cheer2: :woohoo:

I know you are well trained and will do GREAT!!

It sounds like a great plan for your mom - just keep watching the event/comp board about the time of road closings to MK I didnt realize it was an early emh day -

In '08 I had my dh giving me the ibuprofin and icing me down - and I did fine walking around after the race after a bit of a rest....

but when I did the CDC Half in August with DIL - OMG - neither one of us moved well AT ALL - it was so pathetic - I had the foresight to rent us a motel room for the night before and the night after the race - OMG - we'd literally go from a bed to the bathroom to a chair to the bed - and we did walk like REALLY old ladies!! :rotfl: NOT something I ever want to repeat!!

Hi all. I just have a moment but wanted to report that I did 9 miles this morning. When I was done I did this.:cool1::woohoo::banana::yay:
:cool1::woohoo::banana::yay: but no one was around to see. :lmao:

I'll catch up with everyone this evening.

PS - Dolce, eating a cereal bar before I went out, really helped a lot. Thanks!:goodvibes

eyor: AWESOME JOB!! :thumbsup2 :cool1::cool1:

sandy: I'm not going to post over there, they don't even know me. But I'll give you guys the run down:

My very first race EVER was a disaster! :sad2: I made a huuuuge rookie mistake. I'm just thankful that I learned this lesson during a 1/2 marathon instead of my full marathon in January.

To start out: There were about 4,000 people for the 1/2 marathon and another 1,000 people there to run a 5k that began 30 minutes after all of us 1/2 marathoners cleared the start line.

I decided to run with the 2:10:00 pace group (averaged out to a 9:55 minute mile). Starting out was great! Although, I realized that I'm in high enough milage now that a nutragrain bar isn't going to cut it any longer - I'm going to need more more food than that right before the run from now on. I was able to keep up with the pace team leader, no problem. My main problem was all of the people, especially all slower paced people in front of us. There were even some walkers up there with us runners! There were no placing corrals. The pace team leaders went out with their pace balloons and lined up and everyone was supposed to get into the start lines based upon that.

4 miles in and I'm still doing great! I wasn't even breathing hard. At all. I didn't even feel that I was running. It was a slower pace for me than normal and I was stocking up on that energy. I had a plan going in that if I hit the upper miles - say, around mile 11 - and still had plenty of energy, I'd break away from the pace team and come in at an earlier finishing time.

Mile 5 is when everything went to you know where. Here's my rookie mistake: The water stations. Each time we hit one the pace leader was yelling back to us that it's going to get hot, get some water, get some Gatorade, hydrate! hydrate! hydrate! I listened to him and not to my body. They'd hand you these cups full of water and I'd be trying to chug it all down before we cleared the water station. Bad, bad mistake and I sooooooooooooooooo paid for it! I over hydrated. I should have listened to my body. Per my training runs I knew that I didn't need to be drinking that much. Starting into Mile 5 and my stomach cramped up. Bad. First, I just pulled over to the side and did something I'd never allowed myself to do before during a run: walk. I was able to stay in close proximity to the pace team so I'd walk for a couple of minutes and then run back up and then walk and then run and still keep up with the team.

I saw a port-a-potty in Mile 6? and decided that a pit stop was in order. There was a line. There were two of them but one guy disappeared into one and I still don't know if he ever came back out so we were down to one port-a-potty. By the time I got in, did my thing, and got back out - my pace group was long gone. That stop really didn't help much. I began trying to run again but I was hurting and feeling horrid. I pulled back over to the side and started walking again. A woman passing by me took one look at me and asked if I was alright. I told her what happened. I think she slowed to a walk for a minute. I don't recall which mile this was in. Some of my pain passed a bit and I began running with her at her pace. She had started out with the 2:20:00 pace group but had left them behind. I was happy to know that they were still behind me. We ran about - I don't know - 3 to 4 miles together talking and all. Suddenly I began to cramp back up again and had to slow back down to a walk. Even a power walk was too much for me, the pain would scream if I moved that fast, but I'm naturally a fast walker so my slow walk was her power walk! After a bit we tried to run again but I just couldn't. I was in so much pain! Suddenly the 2:20:00 group passed us and I told her to go on, don't wait for me. So she went on and I struggled for another mile. At one point, I just had to stop walking as I hurt so bad. I was determined to finish but wasn't 100% certain that I could.

I made another pit-stop and that helped a little bit. Finally, going into the 12th mile, I was able to run some again. But after walking for so much of the race (I mean, I wound up walking about 1/2 of it!) and still feeling "off", I couldn't really get "into" it at that high of milage. So, the race was technically 13.34 instead of 13.1 - but it was a certified course. They had to change the course route this year because of some road construction so I guess they couldn't figure out a way to keep it 13.1 exact. I walk/ran the 2.34 miles of it and was able to run the very last of it so that I was running when I hit the finish line.

I don't know how/where to get my chip time but the gun time was 2:29:something when I crossed the finish line. Subtract 3-4 minutes and that's probably my chip time.

OK: So. The good:

I finished my very first 1/2 marathon
I finished under 2 1/2 hours despite the severe pain/condition that I was in
I learned a lesson and won't make the same mistake twice.

The Bad:

I'm really disappointed in myself. I know that I could have finished that in 2 hrs and 5 minutes. I had it in me to do it but because I was stupid and drank too much water way too fast, I wound up having to walk (and sometimes I was barely able to do so!). I look at my medal and don't feel accomplishment, just disappointment. I know, I'm very hard on myself. Not every race is going to be a good one but I had hoped that my very first one would be.

So, lesson: watch your water intake. And it really is important to stick to your training schedule. That is how you learn what your body needs and when. My energy level was fine for this race. My legs/feet were fine for this race. It was only my stomach that caused me to do so poorly in comparison of what I was capable of doing. Had I listened to my body, drank how I drank durning my training runs, I would have had a very different outcome in today's race.

I'm still around, I just don't have miles to post! Although one would hope planting 118 bulbs and putting down 12 yards of mulch counts for something.

:rotfl:

Congrats everyone who got miles in!!

And Sandy....I know who Donny Osmond is, as well as most of the songs so I'm up there with you!

I had a few Donny and Marie Albums back in the day. Jackson 5 too. And I mean real albums. Vinyl.

That said, D&M and S&G are a little slow for me for working out!

:badpc::badpc::badpc: We are having issues this evening.

Sandy
I'm still here. Had a very busy weekend. Each evening I would be so tired I would just look at the computer and go to bed. I was REALLY tired. :faint:

I love the pictures you took. They are wonderful. Thanks for sharing them with us. You have a wonderful place to wog.

Maroo
Glad you had a real day off. Gotta have those every once in a while.

EandEsmom
You planted a LOT of blubs. Want to come visit? I have a bunch in the bottom of my frig that DH has yet to plant.

Dolce
 Oh, I do hope everything is okay until you get to move. Hopefully all of the commotion will deter whomever it is from coming back. Thankfully the gate got fixed. Gotta wonder about some people sometimes. Have a feeling that there may be a new manager there soon. Bet the main office starts really looking into what is going on there. Especially if they have other locations that are well kept. Stay safe!

Sorry the race didn't turn out how you wanted. But you did finish! You perserverd (?) and finished. Thanks for the tip on the water. I've been hearing a lot of drink water whenever it is offered, but I don't drink that much while I am actually walking. Before a long walk, I make sure and drink more than normal the day before and then drink a cup or two before I leave the house. While I am walking I do some every couple of miles. But not a lot. Too much water and it sloshes in my stomach. Not a good feeling. Thank you for telling us what happened.

Now, I know who Donnie Osmond is. I even remember the Donnie and Marie show. and I still have vinyl records. Would you believe we still have a turntable that works!?!

Hi Sandy!!

There certainly a lot to catch up on here!! Dolce, wow! what a story. Keep us posted on how things progress with this.

So proud of you all sticking with this! I love stopping by here to watch your progress; it's so great you've all made a goal are working towards it!

Dolce - Congrats on finishing the race! I don't think I would have made it! You should be very proud that you pushed through it. Even if it took a little longer than you would have hoped. Stay safe at your place! Keep us posted.

eyor44 - You are doing a GREAT job on all of your miles!!! Way to GO!! :cheer2:

Sandy - Awesome mileage for you, too!!! :cheer2:

I start over today. My schedule this week is to walk 2 miles on three different days (2 miles each day) with a gym day thrown in on Thursday to cross train.

It is time to get moving!!! Counting points, etc is going well.

You know, I think that All7OfUs,eandesmom, that’s nice and our other lurkers should sign up for the 2011 Donald. Maybe I’ll sign up for the 2011 Goofy and then will walk the Donald with all of you and then run the Mickey the next day. We could all have our own mini-team on top of the WISH group.

Eyor: I’m moving over Thanksgiving week-end. It’s official, I already have a new place. Thank you for your concern. Yeah, I’m trying to give any newbie (like me!) running tips like that. I don’t want anyone else to have to learn the hard way as I did. Everyone pushes for you to drink, drink, drink! because so many people dehydrate during those races but over hydrating is just as serious and can kill you as well. With that severe of pain, perhaps I’m lucky that I didn’t take a ride in an ambulance yesterday but managed to finish the race instead.

I stopped by Sonic after the race for a breakfast burrito (sounded good) and Team In Training people were the car hops that day in order to raise money. My car hop is about to do her first half marathon and I told her what happened to me that morning. She, as I hadn’t, never thought about over drinking. So, I’m thankful that I did sign up for that half – I needed that learning experience. I’m going to sign up for the 8 mile Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, so that’ll be another race experience under my belt before marathon week-end at Disney. I can't wait until my 13 mile training run on Saturday so that I can finally say that I've run 13 miles. :teeth:

Dolce  I think the most valuable lesson you learned and shared - DO A PRACTICE Race!!

and I'm sorry you dont want to post on the thread I linked for you - because you have valuable information to share - I think there are many WISHers that have been around that when someone shares a lesson learned - you reach so many lurkers - and first timers!! (Plus I posted a cheer for you - and someone joined in!! :goodvibes WISH teamers are a great resource!) YOU are a WISH teamer!! I decided!!! (*grin) (its a very accepting group - post or not!)

Water You are right - hearing someone else yell at you to hydrate hydrate, you do second guess yourself! The one 1/2 I had a problem with they were yelling at me to hydrate - and I knew that wouldnt help!

In my first Disney Half - I made a promise to dh to take at least one knox bloc and a few sips of water - so I was getting the electrolytes - as well as a bit of water....

I know DH had a long run yesterday 16 miles - he did 7 and came home for water, and realized he needed the electrolytes - but had forgotten to prep for the long haul - he wasnt doing so well last night!!

Dolce Has issued a Challenge!! 2011 Donald!! :cool1:

eeyor Glad you are hanging in with us - you have a lot to offer and I appreciate when you take the time to post!!

Maroo You have a lot going on! Do take time for you! and I will be with you doing those 2 mile runs!!

Cynthia Yes. It counts!! Thanks for hanging out with us!! A lot of my music is more to get thru to my mind game - I need more faster beat tunes that have something to say!! or not... I dont have access to my itune library - my laptop crashed -

Leisa I have to go over and see how your quilting party went! Glad you join us to cheer me on!! I appreciate it!!

Dolce DH said you are being too hard on yourself! You had a GREAT time! (I read part of your race report to him!) You will be prepared for your Marathon!!

Glad you found a place and will be moving soon - Gosh Thanksgiving is almost upon us!!

Doing Races before the Disney Marathon is important - to get the feel of the crowds - and Yes, Dolce even with the corrals at Disney - there will be walkers in front of you! I know one walker WISH teamer is at a 11 min per mile pace! Some people will just start out slow till the crowds thin out - 36,000 is A LOT of people! Pack your patience...

I think also the whole race mindset does a number on your nerves!! AND I was wondering if you were among the New York Marathoners - dh and I watched part of that race!

I wonder what the weather will be like in Jan in Disney? Its getting so close!!
