Half a BILLION dollar Mega Millions

We just had this discussion we would pay off all of our debt. Buy a nice vacation home, new cars for everyone, college fund for the girls, donations to multiple animal charities, put bunches in savings accounts, give each family member a lump sum and change my name lol. After all of that me and my daughter would visit every Disney park and cruise ship one by one.

You might want to redo your math. ;) You would actually get $54 million!

Well HECK that's a whole lot better!! Just don't let my hubby see this - he's always telling me that I'm lazy at math - this'll prove him right...

I don't even know if this is available in Florida, but I want to play ... lol

I've always said I wanted to adopt kids from around the world, then Angelina did it. SO, I'd have to adopt more kids from around the world to beat her.

Hire a person to do laundry, another to clean, another for personal strength training and fitness, another for personal catered dinners. Hire a person to select clothing and accessories, another for hair styling and grooming.

A posh NY apartment in Manhattan. A posh oceanfront Caribbean villa.

Buy as many DVC points as possible so my family and relatives' families can stay at various DVC locations. A winter home at Golden Oaks.

Take a world cruise with extended stops at all Disney Worlds on Planet Earth.

Money for mom, daughter, siblings; for the kids: put in trust for AAA education.

A proactive charity for furnishing wheelchairs, scooters, power chairs, lifts and other medical assistive devices to the needy.

Endowments for my favorite charities.

The very first thing I would do, would be to go to my grocery store. Get in line behind a family that looks like they may be struggling and buy all their groceries for them. Spontaneous charity. And I would want to do something selfless before spending a cent on myself.

Then I would pay off all debts.
Take everything out of my house that I wanted to keep and put it in storage.
Hire someone to sell off the house and assets I didn't want to replace...I live in a house of hand me downs.
And live on a Disney cruise ship for a few months while figuring out the new direction of my life.

Simple requests here:
Pay off our debts
Buy a house
Trip to Disney
College Fund for both Kids
I have everything I could want minus the house and I told my husband I really couldn't think of anything else I would want to do with it (yes I know that sounds bizarre but honestly those are the only desires I have!) I would donate a huge portion to my church, the church my husband grew up in, buy my Mamaw any house she would want, donate to the preschool at our church, pay for a kidney transplant for two people that I know won't ever be able to afford it, donate to Klove, local relief organization, and anything else God led me to..surely if I was blessed to win you better believe I would pay it ten fold to anyone that I knew could use the help including our parents..

at odds of something like 176 million to 1 for winning my dollar is staying in my pocket. I would LOVE IT if someone from Disboards won - wouldn't that rock?!!

My Disney dream would be taking the board with me when I rent out bay lake tower! Well only the half of the rooms with a magic kingdom view.

I'd cruise hop around the world for a few months. Then I'd travel by land for awhile. Then I'd come home and set up a foundation that fixes up houses for people to make them more energy efficient. Windows, roof, heat pumps etc. Set up a second foundation that fixes people's beater cars so they can make it to work ok. Then I'd cruise more. Lots more.

I don't think WDW would even be on my radar anymore.

I want to play! I would sign up for all of the upcoming dis unplugged exclusive trips coming up, pay someone to pack up and sell my house for me while dh, ds and I spend a few months at the grand Floridian in a suite! I would finish off the dis power of 10 $1million challenge for give kids the world (should be about $925k last I knew). I would buy a home in golden oaks and set up to be a regular volunteer at give kids the world:thumbsup2

Of course our families would get some cash, college funds for ds and my niece and nephew, and probably my bf's kids. I'd probably throw a big family reunion in Disney too!

Oddly enough my DH and I were talking about that today.
Here is our list
~ Pay off all debts (House, Cars, etc)
~ Buy DVC points
~ Set aside money for DD (for college, wedding, or whatever she might choose)
~ Build a 3 or 4 car garage with lifts and everything needed for DH to do all minor repairs and maitience
~ Add a Dining room onto house and extended our laundry room(so it can have a folding table, places to hang clothes, places for lay flat shirts, baskets for each persons clean clothes, and laundry baskets for dirty clothes) these two are for me
~ Put in a inground pool
~ Take a Disney Cruise
~ Help out family (maybe buy DSis a house, pay off DH parents house, and pay for my parents to do a few things to there house or just give them a lump sum to do what they wish(there house is paid for)
~ Then help others as we can

Funny how so many people say they are going to build on their home or pay off your mortgage. There is no way you could live at your present home.

This jackpot winner's life will be forever changed. The first thing they should buy is a security team for their family.

The first thing I would do is call out for my overtime shift that night. I'd make it the most memorable rant about the screwed up stuff my employer does. I work for a police department, so everything is recorded. I'd make it a phone call that gets replayed an awful lot.

Dh first put in $5 a few weeks ago with a group of coworkers. Every week they've been "reinvesting" their earnings. If they win, they have already determined an order in which they each take turns, um, "using the facilities" on their boss' desk.:lmao: As you can tell, dh and I are very unhappy at our jobs!!!

At first I said the first thing I'd do is get pregnant.:cloud9: But we want to take our kids do WDW for 3 weeks right off the bat, so I guess I'd wait till after that. I want the Yacht Club, and dh wants Grand Floridian. I guess we can do a split ressie.

Normal stuff, like pay off bills. I would love to have the feeling of owing nothing to anybody. That in itself would feel like a drug high right now. We'd move to Florida. MIL just moved there a week ago, and I already miss her so much! lol Make sure our family members are set, build a nice house for all the kids we'd be having and adopting.

Make sure BIL's scholarship is well funded. He was killed by a drunk driver almost 5 years ago, and we started a scholarship in his name. I'd donate a heck of a lot to the HERO Campaign and other drunk driving charities.

I'd finish my degree just to show my kids the importance of education. The only thing stopping me right now is money. But I'd become a SAHM, probably serving on the board of charities. I'd love to open some nice indoor play areas for toddlers that are actually clean and not anything like Chuck E Cheese. I'd invest in real estate and franchises like McDonalds.

I'd travel. Oh heavens, how I'd travel! Dh wants to go on a real safari. I want to tour the castles of Europe. I always joke that I'd be the only millionaire still eating chicken nuggets and grilled cheese. But I'd definitely hire a personal trainer to whip my butt into shape.

If I won the Mega Millions I thought it would be cool to buy a Senator. Unfortunately, all of them are already owned...

Well of course I would take care of my family and extended family 1st. Investing to make sure I did not blow it all would be next I would think!
And then I would BUY THE BIGGEST DVC I COULD! :goodvibes
Then I would travel to Europe and buy a house in Florida ; maybe a private plane to jet me around while traveling.
And most importantly I would donate to charity!
I would start a scholarship program in honor of my DH's BF who died in a Farming accident in 2010. He was vol FD chief for years as was my DH.
I would give to our local Vol fire departments.
I would also start a non for profit to help underprivileged youth, in our rural area, pay for education in the healthcare fields.
Even as silly as it sounds I would want to set aside $$$ for unprivileged children to go to Disney too.;)
I guess after all that I would be good!

DH and I were talking about it last night and came to the conclusion that we'd give most of it away. Of course I'd do some frivolous things, like a vacation home at Golden Oaks, an obscene number of DVC points at Aulani, restoring our Victorian home on a money's-no-object timeframe, buying the vacant house next door to tear down and double our lot size, building a cabin on our vacant "up north" property. And I'd travel a lot, starting with my fantasy of a whole summer in Europe and my daughter's dream trip to Japan. But I'd give away more than I kept; a good year for us, where we have enough to pay bills, meet our savings goals, travel a bit, and have some wiggle room to do fun stuff is about 50K/year. I can't see holding on to millions to buy a lifestyle that doesn't matter all that much to us; I'd just want fewer trade-offs (like remodel the bathroom or go on vacation, Europe as our only trip for two years or multiple cheaper destinations every year, etc.).

Then I'd fund a bunch of things that our community needs but can't afford - a community center with "hang out" space for teens & tweens as well as a no-charge-for-residents gym, a fund to cover pay-to-play fees for lower income students, new equipment in some of the parks, etc. After that and cash donations to a few favorite charities I'd have to do some research, but my goal would be to keep ~50 million for personal use and long term stability for my family and give the rest away.

My coworker (a 25 year old single male) says he wants a roller coaster in his house. He wants the writers of Richie Rich and Blank Check to see his cool house and say "darn, why didn't we think of that! Lol

Not a Disney thing, but DH and I have decided that if our $5 Mega Millions ticket turns out to be a winner that we are buying the high school a new track. Ours is horrible. We will get them the most awesome track ever!!

Other than that, DH is promised season tickets to the Mariners and Seahawks, DS will get to go to private school specializing in music, and I will get to do a lot of traveling (with DH and DS). And we will give a nice amount to a Beagle rescue.

Well, I'd do the following:

For each set of parents: $5 million each x 2 = $10 million
For each sibling: $2 million each x 4 = $8 million
For each niece/nephew: $1 million in a trust x 10 = $10 million
For our kids, $50 million each in a trust for college and whatever x 2 = $100 million
For our church, $5 million for the addition = $5 million
For us, a new house, new minivan, etc = $2 million

So the total is $135 million. You'd get about $300 million after taxes, so $165 million to invest and live on the ~$1.5 million a year in yields.

Yeah, I'd quit my job.
