Hakuna Matata: Official thread Part deux

Now, I know the Hakuna Matata team is so laid back that I suspect them of popping happy pills, so in honor of the Easter Holiday I offer you this alternative, the happy-candy pill Pez:

Good Morning Team!!

Happy Easter to all.

A brief update well maybe not too brief.

My MIL is in the nursing home recovering from her Heart Attack but should be released by next week.

My neck is on the mend but quite painful. Went to a new Dr. had x-rays and started PT both at home and at the Dr's. So I will have - like Dave-- hours of stretching included in my workouts/miles.

Yesterday did a lot of stretching and was doing ok, then at 3 am my neck seized up so bad I could hardly move. Got up went and stretched- took drugs and was able to relax it enough to go back to sleep. What a mess. I guess like anything else when we work at it - some soreness will develop.

Mark and I were finally able to go to the track this morning. Bundled up - 29 here in NH but the track an field had been shoveled - the high school kids need to start training.

Did 4 miles in about an hour so I am very pleased. Generally when I'm done working out my neck feels better but not today. I know its from the stretching and I am probably not as patient as Dave but will try.

I have PT tomorrow and Tuesday - a massage Tuesday night and then on Wednesday Miranda, Gir The Gecko(She's a hero) and I are off to Amish country for a big quilt show. We will be MIA until Saturday night.

I know we can dodge the Amish buggy's in the morning or we may scope out a track but I'm not entirely sure we'll get any power-walking done while away.

My plan is to do another 4 miles after work Monday at the Track - so I'll have at least 8 this week but I will sure have a lot of hours of stretching and toning.

9 Pounds so far on Weight Watchers but Shoo Fly Pie may be my downfall next week, in addition to the Easter goodies I've made for later today.

Take care all - Miss you guys and if I have enough energy, I'll do an extra Mile for Erica too.

Denise, I'm not very patient either, I've just come to the conclusion that I better start doing everything right. I'm tired of making good progress then having to take 2 steps back to recover from some injury or other, all of which would not happen if I do the stretching regularly. I really don't like having to cut my walk training short to get the stretching in but I'm kinda curious to see how it works out.

The sun just came out for the first time today, maybe it will warm up a little. I'm not weather tough like you guys up north.

I just finished 2 hours of cleaning the kitchen. Glad that's out of the way, I just need to vacuum and I get my good house husband medal.

Have a great Easter y'all.

HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE!

Thank you for the pez Debra; I love the little yellow chick :lovestruc!

Happy Easter!

Finally a nice day, and no work work, we got the north bedroom sanded and a 2nd coat fo mudd on, then went for a 6.81 mile run, Lunn has the pups out on the course.

Sorry I don't recall any of you THM (team Hakuna Matata) folks going to be at the ING Atlanta???

I haven't done any running in the last week. I have been to busy with homework, projects and tests.

I managed to get a little run in today and went 3.53 miles in 45 minutes.

Happy Easter!

Recovering from the 13-inches of snow we received Friday and Saturday - thankfully no new snow today. Spring must have made a wrong turn! :sad1:

Long day - starting with sunrise service. I managed to squeeze in my 8-miles in on the Dreadmill. 5-miles when dinner went into the oven and then 3-miles while everyone else got to nap.

 Hey Panda do you hire out?

Denise, hope the PT and stretching takes care of your neck problems. :flower3: I am about an hour from Amish Country in Shipshewanna IN. Great place to visit and shop. Have Fun!

I work for hugs:hug:

Dang Margie you are amazing Getting in 8 miles on the treadmill is an accomplishment. I'm done by 4 on the treadmill. I've used it more this year than ever, I think because it's been such a cold wet winter. The other winters it would be like 30 and sunny, which I don't like 30s but if it's sunny I can tolerate it. This winter has been very cloudy all winter, when it's so gray it seems so much colder to me.

I did get a lot done while my pretty princess recoverd from her week. It's bad when you have to rest to recover from work. But 12 hour shifts are draining.

Yes spring can start any time. It's still cold and gray here. By now it should be much nicer out.

Hope everyone had a wonderfull Easter.

Good morning team!

I may also have to hit the treadmill today, the wind is blowing at 20-30mph with gusts to 60! It should be warm here today, but with the wind blowing that hard, I may skip the dog walk today! We did get a good walk/run in yesterday.

On Wed. night we are headed out to Atlanta, actually to Denver on Wed night and to Atlanta on Thurs. for the ING 1/2 Marathon. At this point, it looks like cool weather and possibly rain for the race, but we will have to see what Sunday brings.

Happy Monday, Everyone!

Able to get in a quick post on this SNOWY start to the work week. All week the weather does not look promising. Snow, rain and ice pellets. Yeah!

I'm sooooo busy at work and haven't anytime to check in to see how everyone is doing. I'm up for Around the Bay Road Race this weekend, 30K. What was I thinking! Around 5,500 runners and it sells out in advance that I commited to the race but just not feeling it. Going in with very little training. I'm relying on January's marathon training to carry me through. I know a really bad idea.

Back to work.
Happy training! Sue

Just a quick hey there!!!!! Work is crazy today. I hope everyone enjoyed there Easter Weekend, I am back at work today but since Mike is a govn't worker he gets the day off.....not fair....but that is OK I left him a honey do list....he probably wishes he was at work:lmao:

Have a good one all

Kim

Good morning team.

I hope all this stretching works out for me. I have been faithfull to it. It adds an hour to the workout time. I hope this is what it takes for a new level of performance. I guess it just takes time for the changes to work. I'm so ready to have some warm weather so I can get out to the track and start doing intervals again weekly. I want to see where I am now speed wise, so I can plan my training.

I did 4 miles on the treadmill this morning and then the full stretching and calistetics routine. Lots of deep stretching on the achillies tendons.

Here is the reply I got from Disney Sports about the 16 mpm time restrition on the ToT. I'm still not giving up on it.

Dave-
Thanks for your feedback.

We are assuming the event you are referring to in your email is the
Tower of Terror 13K.

The pace for this race is 16 minutes per mile. This pace requirement
actually gives the participants an additional minute per mile over the
rest of the events in our Endurance Series which have a 15 minute per
mile pace.

The Tower of Terror 13K is in line with our January Marathon and Half
Marathon with 16 minute per mile pace.

We will check out the web site you attached to this email.

Thanks,
Disney Sports

This is a fight worth the effort because there are several of our team and I would assume lots of others besides that need the relaxed pace of 18 min per mile right now.

Anyway, I'm kinda drained right now when it comes to causes since I'm still trying to get my darn furniture I bought from Ashley Furniture Showcase. I surely do not reccommend shopping there.

Wilber welcome back.

Everyone, walk/run strong today.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Lots to be thankful for like NO new snow to shovel. We actually had sunshine today, but still not able to walk safely outside. So after everyone left at 9:PM I had to do my 4-miles on the dreadmill.

Panda, Thanks! This is a fight worth the effort because there are several of our team and I would assume lots of others besides that need the relaxed pace of 18 min per mile right now.

Kathy, Glad to hear you had a vacation so great you did not want to come back!

Hello, everyone! We are back from vacation. It was WONDERFUL!!! I enjoyed it so much. We drove to northern Tennessee to see our DS who is stationed at Fort Campbell, KY. I had never been in that part of the world before and I LOVED it! So green and beautiful! We took our time and saw all possible tourist attractions along the way, even ones we didn't know WERE tourist attractions, like the side trip with Connie and her DH to see the longhorns, RibEye and TBone! :dance3: We didn't get home until Sunday afternoon. I didn't want to go to bed last night because I knew as soon as I went to bed, vacation would be over.......:sad2: But.....on to other things now!

I did absolutely AWFUL with my eating and exercising last week. I did well for the first 2 days of vacation and then it all went down the tubes. But today I am back on track. Of course, my legs are aching tonight because I hadn't worked out for a week! A good night's sleep should fix them up!

OF COURSE I am more than happy to donate time and miles to Erica! And how in the world has she managed to lose 2 dress sizes and not be exercising????

Denise, I hope your neck is better fast. Lisa, I'm sorry to hear about your knee. Kim and Mike, glad to have you back! Margie, sounds like things are going well, even though you're still not able to get outside! Scott and Lynn, glad to hear you haven't blown away up there! Donna, you seem to me to be getting lots of miles in! Dave, glad to hear you're working out without pain! Connie, I enjoyed our "bridge-walking"! Kristen, it's been a long time since my DH was in the Navy and left me for months at a time with our son, but not so long I don't remember what a struggle it was! Hang in there! (And yes, you will be picking those little balls up for months - just make sure they don't end up on your plate or in your bed!! :scared1: I know I have left some of the team out, but it's because it's past 8 pm and I have very little brain function left by this time of night!

You all keep on keeping on!

Hi Kathy, you were only 60 miles from me. If I'd known it was Fort Campbell we could have met for lunch or something. I could have given you a tour of the RedNeck capital of the world.

Margie, we will be able to escape the tready soon. Spring will come. You will miss shoveling.

Denise pixy dust for your neck. you need a good massage therapist.

Wilber, Kim and Mike are from Canada also.

Scott and Lynn, have a safe and fun guys.

Kathy Erica and I are eating a healthy, low meat diet.

Have a restfull evening fellow athletes.

Hey Wilbur where in Ontario are you ??? I am just north of Newmarket. I have a girlfriend doing the Around the Bay this weekend as well, I hope the weather warms up a bit it is going to be a cold one.

Welcome back Kathy: Glad you had a great time with DS.

crumb, didn't realize how late it was gotta get ready for work. Have a great day all.

Kim

Good morning team!

I spent all day yesterday sanding drywall - and I mean all day - started at 9:30 am and finished at 6pm! I will have to make up for it today, get the dogs out for a good walk, and do some weights and that pilates tape that I should have done yesterday! The wind is less than yesterday, but still supposed to pick up later, so I will get the walk in early.

I will have time for a walk tomorrow before taking the dogs to the kennel. I will donate that walk to Erica. Then I don't see us doing much measurable exercise before the 1/2 marathon on Sunday.

OK, time to get ready to walk!

Kathy -- Glad to hear you had a good visit with your DS!

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Kristen
