Hi team! I had a great workout at the gym yesterday and did the usual weights and have started to add deadlifting back into the mix. It's probably a good thing I went yesterday because at the office we had a potluck and I most definitely overate. There were dumplings, noodles and someone brought in Portugese custard tarts :lovestruc So I'm going back to the gym again today and will probably focus more on leg exercises since we did arms yesterday. Oh and I have a dentist appointment this evening

Has everyone (who's going to marathon weekend) voted on the team dinner in January?

Mike - I was going to suggest seeing a PT or going for a massage but you're so busy working! I'm definitely thinking about EE next May. I heard someone say the corrals were organized in a funny way - individuals were first with the teams in the middle and the coed teams being last. I think I read that the coed team that came in first did so with a time of 38:00. We could beat that ... just sayin' :cutie: But doing it as individuals is fun too...

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Rick - I think pie AND ice cream is the recommended cure. Eating one or the other will only get you there part way ;) Hope you're feeling peppier soon Rick!

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Hockeychic: Great race! Did you racewalk the race or do a run/walk method cuz you were speedy! Once again, congrats on the PR!

RadioFanatic: Thanks for the encouragements! It gives me the extra motivation to keep moving forward! This Sunday it looks like I will be walking around Lake Geneva in WI with my AVON Team -- 21 miles. I will be putting everything to the test -- hydration, fueling, gear, etc. It will definitely be a "Grrrrrr On" day! How is your work going this week. It sounds like you have really been 'wicked busy'!

AFM: Today was a good day! I got some decent sleep to start things off. Then I took the morning off from work so I could stop by the Dick Pond Running Store and visit with Mike! It was good to see him and the store manager Karie who is the head of our LifeTime Run Club. We talked about a bunch of things, including Karie's perspective on the Newton shoes. Vicky: I forgot to talk to Mike about my ice cream/pie idea! I am going to have to text him tonight about it. :rotfl:

I wanted to try on the new Saucony Kinvara 3s. But they won't have them in the store until June. So Mike had me try on a pair of K-Swiss Kwicky Blade racing flats. They were pretty comfortable. I have never really thought about having racing flats before so now I have something new to think about.

I will have to go back there in June to try on the Kinvaras, and the Kwickys again, to see which shoe I will purchase. The Kwicky has a higher heel drop than I am running in now so that is a downside for me.

The rest of the day was spent at the office in meetings. Oh well, you gotta pay the bills, right? Tomorrow I plan on a quick run in the morning, probably with my Altra 'Instinct' shoes.

Hey Rick I did run/walk for the first 5K but didn't have it in me for the 1/2 5K but did jog it in. I don't like walking across the finish line so I jogged it in.:cool1:

My intervals are a work in progress :goodvibes

Vicky we already discussed my vote:rolleyes2 I really am ok where ever just as long we the team is there all is good.

Hey isn't everyone going for marathon weekend?????:confused3

Hello team!

Mike - Congrats on both your races!

Vicky - DH and I did a 4 mile run last weekend. It went pretty good as I recall. I finally had a chance to check out your blog and the recipes on there look really yummy.

Kim - WTG on your 10k! Unfortunately, I won't be going to marathon weekend :( I'll miss seeing everyone!

AFM - Not much happening here. We were supposed to have friends over for dinner tonigh, but they had to cancel. They're moving cross country and the movers were taking longer than epxected to pack. They're coming over tomorrow instead. So, DH and I went for a run tonight. It was hot out and I wasn't feeling great so we only did about 3/4 of our run.

We went to see the Avengers last Saturday. I liked the movie. Has anyone else seen it? What did you think?

Have a good night!
Emily

Hello team.

Rick and Mike, no funk allowed brother athletes! I'm 8 days into a healing rest and therapy for treatment of my achillies and I'm just waiting for the day I'm pain free so I can get back at it. Each day is a little better and each day I'm stronger and tougher.

Sounds like a lot of racing going on. I did the Indy half and did that with a mad achillies so wasn't very smart. I do think I would have been ok if I hadn't stepped into that pothole with my bad sore foot though.

Kim are you doing a run walk? You did the 10K almost as fast as I can walk it.

Vicky, yes as you said on facebook we need to find out where the comfy potties are along the new course for the marathon.

Tomorrow is Sally's birthday and we are doing dinner and a ball game.

Have a restful evening.

Good morning team.

I'm headed off to PT this morning, Yea! I hope to get more good news, last visit was Wednesday and the PT said my range of motion was in the normal range now. I went from 12 degrees of motion in my left ankle to 30 percent. I'm so ready to find out what that will mean for my racing and training abilities.

Everyone open your eyes today to the beauty and wonder that is all around us. Reach out for your share of the joy.

Thanks Vicky, I am really looking forward to it. Looking like good racing conditions for Halifax Sunday morning. Good luck to the other racers this weekend.

Canadian teammates: Have a great long weekend!
American teammates: A little patience, yours is next weekend!
AFM: I get the best of both worlds... live in Canada, but telecommute to the US, so I get back to back long weekends! :cool1:

Everybody have fun out there this weekend! Stay hydrated; stay safe; and bring home the Gold! :thumbsup2

Good luck to all racers this weekend!!!!!!!

Emily so sad you won't be at marathon weekend:sad2:

Robbie: Is your company hiring;)

Dave: I did walk/run for the first 5K but the the conditioning isn't quite there and with dealing with shin splints and a bit of knee pain I just walked in most of the last 5K. I would be happy to jog as fast as you wlk:thumbsup2

My fellow Canadians enjoy your long weekend the weather is suppose to be amazing!!!!

To my American friends have a great weekend and hope your weather is just as nice.

Well hello there long lost team!!

I am here to bug you guys as I don't have anything to add to the running world or training orrrrrrrr Disney races. Although I would like to vote...just because I love to vote on stuff ;)

I know I have been MIA for a bit and I do apologize...life has it's crazy way of getting...well crazy.

I had been recouping from the surgery, then we had family in from out of town, then things got crazy at work....then I found out I am pregnant. Yep...a new little Baker on board!!! If I am correct with my calculations...my due date will be January 4th. I have not been to the doctors yet so we have not seen the pictures and we have not told work yet...or anyone else for that matter. So please no FB comments or any of the like :upsidedow

I'm sorry I have been absent...I am just sooooo tired. It has been really hard for me to wake up and run. Not only that but hard for me to focus at work...it takes forever to do what normal should be easy and quick.

I promise I will try to do better with keeping up on here :thumbsup2

But for now...back to work. Hope everyone is well and GL to all the racers this weekend!!!!

OMG!!! Prayers answered!! Eva, that is so awesome!! Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you guys!!!!! :cheer2:

Happy Friday team! Super busy day at work as Monday is a holiday and everyone was scrambling to get their work and leave early.

Eva - Congrats! That's fantastic news :) Keep us posted on the news and of course, I won't post it on FB.

Kim - One of the marketing companies downtown lets their employees have the Friday of the long weekend off so they get an extra day for free. Not fair at all! I think the shin splints will eventually go away. It's just a matter of getting use to running the miles instead of walking them. Once your muscles adapt, they will go away.

Robie - I'm jealous that you get both weekends off! That's awesome! We all need more vacation days! Good luck on your half this weekend!

Kimberley - Good luck on your race! Your little guy must be so excited that you're racing again! I love that you have such an enthusiastic cheerleader!

Rick - Hope your walks go well this weekend! Say hi to Christi!

Dave - How was the PT visit this morning? What kind of exercises are you doing on your ankle? Make sure you spoil Sally rotten on her special day :)

Regina - Good luck to you and DH on your half this weekend!

AFM - I worked out the gym on Wednesday and did a round of treatment afterward on my knee. I left feeling pretty good. Looks like that tune up came just in time because I ended up doing an impromptu run after a bus yesterday evening. The bus driver decided he just didn't want to stop for me (for what ever reason). I even ran and caught up to him a quarter mile from the original stop and he decided not to stop for me. Crazy! I was so upset after getting home, I wrote about it on my blog. It's a little funny now but not so much yesterday.

Anyway have a great weekend everyone! :wave2:

Good morning Team!!

((((((((((((((Eva))))))))))))) Congrats little warrior.

Well I was walking almost pain free and then we did an exercise at PT and I think they took me to far because since I've been hurting again. I hope it's just a minor setback. I'm planning to try some easy race walking on Monday.

Yes Sally had a good Birthday. Dinner at a nice place, a ball game and some nice goodies.

Kim, we need to spend some mornings training at Disney so I can teach you to walk properly and we can do some training together. With about three one hour morning sessions I can get you started. My walking has really evolved with the coaching I've been getting from some Warrior Princesses.

Weather here has turned of perfect for training and I'm lame, darn it. Monday is going to be rainy for my come back day, hoping it will be in the afternoon so I can get a good track workout, (slow and easy) but good for restarting.

Have a great weekend y'all.

Dave:coffee:

Good Morning Team! I am finally getting back here after our cruise. Again, do not have time to catch up, so starting on final page, if I missed anything important, would you please tell me.

Vicky - Glad the knee is doing better.

Dave - Sorry I missed Sally’s birthday, please tell her happy belated birthday from me!

Kim - Have a great long weekend!

Mike - Hope you are feeling better!

Rick - Hope you feel better too!

Kimberly - Good luck on your race!

Robbie - Good luck on your race!

Elizabeth - Good luck on your race!

Regina - Good luck to you and your DH on your race!

Emily - We could have seen the Avengers on the cruise, but never made it to the movie theatre, so we will probably wait until it comes out on DVD - like we do for most movies.

Eva - Congratulations!

AFM - Finally got out for bike ride yesterday, 12 miles. We did do the spin bikes on the cruise ship on a daily basis (except for shore days), but it is always good to get outside on the real thing. Today is raining and windy, if it clears up this afternoon we will get outside again.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Dave: I would be interested in learning some too if there is any time before or after the races on Marathon Weekend....

Hi, folks!

Good luck to all the racers today. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm not running today because I wasn't able to adequately train with my injury and my PT advised me to run no more than 3 miles right now. I did get out for a run this morning with my DD11 and I am happy to report that I'm not feeling any back pain at all. I still only have 1 race on the schedule (ToT) but I'm looking for something local that fits in with my training.

Eva: What fantastic news! I'm happy for you.

Emily: I just saw The Avengers last night. What a fun movie!

Dave: Happy belated birthday to Sally. Hope your pain is temporary.

Vicky: Who knew catching a bus could be so adventurous?

I'll check in tomorrow; I can't wait to read the race reports!

Good Morning Team!

Elizabeth - Glad to hear your back is getting better!

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!
