Yay! You got this! An easy 3.5 tonight or tomorrow and you are there! Very exciting! (I ran 3.2 miles today but am 6 miles away from 100 for May. I don't think I'll make it this month. I need to rest now for the 39.3 mile AVON Walk this weekend).

How are you going to celebrate?

By sleeping in on Friday instead of my usual run! No really, I'm not sure. I'm just excited about it - and I think you should use six mies from the avon walk for this month! :lmao:

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - We are going to be home most of the summer - a few weekends out for bike rides. Next trip will be to DL for 1/2 marathon, we will be walking the 5K and chEARing on folks for the 1/2. Disney races have sure gotten pricey, I guess everyone is following suit.

Rick - 39.3 mile walk is quite ambitious!

Kimberly - You should have no problem with 3.5 miles! Sorry about the BLT reservations.

Elizabeth - Let me know if Vicky cannot supply a muffin recipe and I will give you my Blueberry Muffin recipe, should work for any fruit. I am sure Vicky’s will be better, mine is just basic.

Emily - Good job getting runs in!

AFM - Nice day yesterday, got in a 12 mile bike ride, the wind was a bit more than the 5-10mph predicted (more like 15-20mph). Today is supposed to be windy again, will see if we brave it with the bikes.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi Lynn!!!! Are you and Scott coming for marathon weekend 2013? It was a great surprise seeing you guys.

Rick: OMG is that this weekend I was sure it was in Oct??? I know another friend who is doing that event maybe hers is in Sept.

I hope we will have a new team member soon. Stacey, I know Scott, Lynn and Dave know her but not sure about everyone else. Her family is coming in for marathon weekend this year and I have been trying to get her to post so she can get to know you all before the weekend. She is on FB with many so some of you might already have "friended" her.

Kimberley I like that goal of 100 miles for a month....hummmm so just over 3 miles per day.....might give that one a go. Anyone else for June?

Hope all are well, going for a trail walk tonight not sure how long it is but will bring my garmin and hope it registers.

Kim

Elizabeth - I do! But it's at home. I will send it to you tonight or tomorrow. It's a paper copy so I have to type it out. I'm just working on a few things right now.

Kim - Who is it?

Rick - Does the Avon walk have water stops and other race elements like mile markers? I know it's not a race but I was curious.

Lynn - I'm looking forward to seeing you and Scott again in September :) If the 5K race registration is still open in a few days. I'll think about it. I do like that race because it's flat and well organized. So we'll see.

Sorry for the short post! I have a few things at work that I need to finish today. I'm off to the gym tonight and then hopefully a run in the morning. Not sure about the run because I've been short on sleep lately but like Kim, I'd rather just get it done and out of the way.

Hope everyone is having a great day so far! :wave2:

Rick - Does the Avon walk have water stops and other race elements like mile markers? I know it's not a race but I was curious.

They have aid stations throughout the course about every 1.5-2 miles with water, Gatorade, porta-potties, and medical. And many stops also have snacks too. They are actually better than the average race aid station.

They have sag wagons at most aid stations to drive people to the end of the course if they don't think they can finish the Walk that day. At some point along the course, they have a special station that provides lunch for the walkers! How cool is that?!

I will probably bring a fuel belt with my own water and my GUs/Clif bars just because my stomach is used to that. But I will drink their Gatorade and I will definitely have some of whatever they are offering for lunch. I do not plan on stopping for lunch -- just to grab a sandwich and a banana and and keep on walking.

Yep! June 2nd is the date for the marathon walk and the 3rd is the half marathon walk, ending with the closing ceremonies and all. I am pretty excited for this! My first 'Goofy-ish' experience. Can I count Saturday as my first Full Marathon even if it isn't a timed race? :confused3

I think the one in Oct is the Komen 3-Day Walk.

Christi and I are celebrating our anniversary on June 1st since we are staying at a nice Hyatt hotel on Friday through Sunday -- kinda like marathon weekend. (our actual anniversary is on June 8th)

Kimberley I like that goal of 100 miles for a month....hummmm so just over 3 miles per day.....might give that one a go. Anyone else for June?

I might hit 100 in June. I will already be at 52.4 after my HM on June 10th...

Vicky it is Stacey, can't remember her dis name

Rick I think it counts it is the distance right!!!! and happy anniversary to you and Christi how many years?

Good morning team. Sorry about not posting for a bit but I've been working 12 hr shifts for the last week and with all the other tasks that needed done I've had to cut back on my computer time. Now I have some days off coming so I can catch up again.

I went for a nice 6.5 mile training walk yesterday with my group. It was the first good training session for 6 weeks. The purpose was to break up the scar tissue around my achillies. The rehab has been up and down and I've been very frustrated and it's been hard not to get discouraged. But yesterday was a very positive effort with a low pain level except for during hill climbing. Funny hills were where I was strongest. So the rehab continues with extra work on hills.

I might be able to do a race in July, that's my target anyway. I should never have done the Indy 5K and half back to back when I wasn't 100%. But that did make me decide to work on getting my cronic achillies problem addressed.

I'm rejoining the health club on Friday so I will have access to the pool and hot whirlpool tub. I will be doing some regular weight training as well. I need to balance out a few body parts.

Mike are you feeling better?

I hate camping not just for the bugs but it's so much nicer to wake in a soft bed and have a hot shower and then have a hot breakfast served to you. I had enough camping in South East Asia.

Kimmer how is your Mike doing? Is his PF under control?

Have an awesome day everyone.

Hey all! Well, as you may have seen from my exuberant FB status - I did it! 101.56 miles in May! I'm so glad bc I really beat myself up last month by missing it by only 1.44 miles - and it was bc I was lazy one day in april - shame on me! so I'm going to celebrate by going to get my free pair of new balance shoes I won today - yeah!

Rick - happy anniversary! and you can definitely get 100 miles in june with all the walks/races you are doing - I know you can! and definitely count it as a marathon - it's doing it, not time!

Kim/Hockeychic - I did it running mostly M-F so you definitely could do the 100 miles! it was a fun challenge.

Vicky - hope work is calming down - did you ever report that bus driver?

thanks es and lynnG for the encouragement.

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - Last year we walked the 5K with Marsha leading, and she lead at a very slow pace - she says the pace will be faster this year.

Dave - Glad to hear your ankle is doing better!

Kim - Sorry Kim, we are missing marathon weekend next year. You make 100 miles a month seem so do-able! (3 miles a day)

Rick - The Avon walk sounds more like a bike ride than a walking race (bike rides tend to have more in the way of snacks and lunch, not just water and gu). Happy Anniversary!

Kimberly - Congrats!

AFM - Windy yesterday, got the dog walk in, then did 30 min of pilates, 15 min of weights, and 15 min on spin bike. Today a longer bike ride is on the schedule.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi all!

So per Kim's suggestion, here I am! For those who don't know me, my name is Stacey. Thanks for having me here. I used to be on the boards a while ago, and am going to make a bigger effort to check in more often again. I'll be heading to Disney in January to do the marathon.

I'm also doing the Avon 2 day walk (as Kim mentioned) in October. Rick, can't wait to hear about your experience so I can take notes! It'll be my first Goofy-ish experience too!

Looking forward to getting to know and train with you all!

Welcome to our Team!!! Congrats on choosing to run the 20th Anniversary Mickey. It is going to be epic! Did you see the new course announcement on RunDisney?

Hope to learn more about your journey and have you be part of our WDW Marathon experience in 2013! I have posted about my AVON training on my blog and will definitely be posting a WR (walk report cuz it's not a race) about each of the two days. I am really looking forward to it (although I have still not quite gotten all my gear and stuff together!).

Hi Everybody!

Welcome Stacey!

I'm checking in from Oxford MA at the moment. It been a nice vacation so far, we went to Boston to check out the Aquarium and saw an IMAX move while we were there. Liz and I also went to see the Avengers (finally). We liked it, but thought it could have been better.
Tomorrow Liz and I will be staying overnight in Boston and taking a historical tour and seeing the Sam Adams brewery. We also have some dinner plans for seafood. Saturday we will be picking up our race packets for the Worcester races on Sunday. I'm scheduled to do the full marathon and Liz the half. I'm still not sure if I will do it or not, or maybe do the half instead. I haven't trained in several months and am still getting over my sore achilles problem. I also forgot my fuel belt bottles when I packed for the trip, so I'll have to find some at a store somewhere in Boston. So far, no luck. To kill even more of my motvation, they posted pictures of the finishers medal and it is the same for both races, saying marathon and half on it (which I dislike). It also says 3rd annual, for the half, but nothing about the full being the inaugural. So, I might decide to take my first DNS. :sad1: I guess I'm just being a mope about the whole thing. Next weekend I have two half marathons, so I this is driving me a little nutso! :scared:

Rick~ Good luck this weekend! I'll be thinking about you!

We have no cell phone service here, so I'm feeling a little isolated!

Hope everyone is well, Mike :cool2:

Mike I did the Indy back to back 5K and half when I wasn't 100% and it whacked me so bad that I lost a solid month of training and if I hadn't devoted all my energy into healing I would still be hobbling. All the signs are pointing to letting your body rest. I wish that I had took the Indy off or just did the 5k and called it a day. Your your own boss and sometimes the boss has to make some tough decisions. Best of luck to you in whatever you decide.

I did 5 hours of yard work and then went marketing and made supper. Now it's time for my new must do stretching and strengthening exercises. I will be stronger and tougher for this break in training.

I'm ready for a vacation and some Disney, is it sept yet?

Have a restful evening y'all.

Tomorrow Liz and I will be staying overnight in Boston and taking a historical tour and seeing the Sam Adams brewery. We also have some dinner plans for seafood.

Best time I had in Boston was to do the Red Line tour. I started at the Boston Commons end and picked up a booklet ("The Complete Guide to Boston's Freedom Trail") that is a self-guided tour. It was much better than the motorized tours, as it takes you down many of the side streets that the bus/duck tours don't go down. It also has many other points of interest that aren't covered in the generalized motor tours.

Then at the end of it, I went up the Bunker Hill Monument... UGH! I think it's 295 steps? I just remember getting halfway up after walking the red-line tour all day and people telling me "You're halfway there, might as well go the rest of the way!"

This is something that I'd really like to go do again someday, when I have much more time to spend on it. I only had one day there and didn't get to see some of the stuff I wanted to see. (Like take the tour of the USS Constitution sailing ship).

Hi Stacey!!!!!! This is a great group you will really enjoy posting here.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!!

Welcome Stacey, are you the Stacey I know from NY?

I'm rejoining the health club today. I will have acccess to weights, a lap pool and a hot whirlpool again. Those things are going to be a big help to my training.

I think the PT will be pleased with my progress today. We will probably be going to just 2 sessions a week now.

Dave:hippie:

Yes Dave it is that Stacey, I finally convinced her to start posting here to get to know this awesome group. We are on a mission together to get healthy and rock out marathon weekend!!!!
