Hakuna Matata March-ing in like Lions!!

Just a quick drop by,

I hit the TM this morn and it felt good, I did a fat burner program, lots of incline, not really fast so I need to bump up the level, got snow last night nad wind today.

Better get back to work,

Lynn can post pics later.

Hi All. It's me the night person. Mark has gotten a full blown cold and I have a sore throat. I think mine is sinus as I feel fine, just a bit dry. It may be just my sinus draining. Comtrex, cough drops and orange juice and I'm good to go.

He's a mess. We did use our Afrin before the flight but I guess if your gonna get it- there isn't much you can do.

The temps are mild here - it is now 41 and rain is expected tonight. It might get colder and freeze for the morning commute. I just got my car out of the shop so I"m not thrilled with bringing it out again. We had the repair from when the tree branch fell on it.

The only dog I had was when I was young, a yellow lab named Zipper. She was a cutie. There is a picture of me with her when I'm 18 and if I find it I'll scan it in and post. We got my kids a dog but it was on the condition that they take care of it. Well after about 9 months of fighting on that, I gave the dog away. She was a beautiful Cocker Spaniel. Princess was her name. I feel bad now because she was a very good dog. I guess I love all dogs, but I just don't want to own one.

No workouts till the weekend. Our evenings are now light since we changed the clocks so once we're feeling better- we'll go out more and do some miles.

Connie, I'm happy you'll be able to do the 1/2, can't wait for a report on how it goes. You've improved so much. Girls weekend! Now that's a fun time. I have a quilting weekend scheduled for 4/1.

Well, I have bee at my house tomorrow so I have to pick up the computer/sewing studio.

Have a good night

He's all dressed up for the meet n greet.

I've got him up to 2 miles when we walk, but that's about the limit and in the heat of the summer he's in the air conditioning.

Welcome TigerLily and Kirby. He's very handsome. I'm with him in the AC! All my walks in the summer are at 5am before sunrise to beat the heat.

Good morning Team.

I started a new thread for sharing walker stuff. We needed a new one for 2009. Since most of the WISH are pimarily walkers with a little running salted in. We do have some fine runners on the team though.

I'm not loving the cold front that is moving in over the next week, we are even forcasted some snow. That isn't spring that is more winter. Would our Canadian friends please ease that door shut.

I have still been doing my workouts on the treadmill and the gym since it's dark in the mornings when I workout, in a month or so it should be light out at 6am so I can get out on the road. Most of the roads I walk on have sidewalks but they have places with just the gutter on the side, not even a shoulder. I'm not doing that in the dark.

Feel better Denise and Mark.

Have an awesome day y'all.

Thought that Buddy (Lab Mix) and I would take you up on your invitation to come over to the dog show--especially since he's had me up since 4:30!

Good Morning, TEAM & Cousins!

Thanks for sharing your Cute little Puppies with us!

Sorry No puppy, No dog, No cats, No horses, No Animals…left the real ones all behind at the farm several years ago. What Denise said!

Mary- PTL that Anna is recovering so quickly from such a serious surgery! And it is nice to sleep in your own bed too

Connie, :thanks: I ordered the book you recommended from Amazon last night - "Weightlifting for Dummies." 3rd edition

Mark & Denise pixiedust: pixiedust:

I asked an Elliptical Question on a new thread – I am not sure I understand if it actually benefits me as a walker. I know it is great for cardio, is easier on the knees- joints, but it shortens your stride. I also think it gets the heart rate up faster. Concerned that the shorten stride might have a negative effect.

After 3 days of warmer temperatures with heavy rains, dark clouds, and wind – today we are getting the colder air down to 25 degrees with high winds and floor warnings for today. Strange weather even for Michigan! Btw seeing growing green things and mowing the lawn is not in the immediate future for this area!

Wednesday is a Rest Day :upsidedow

Hey everyone! Just stopping by to see some puppy pics. I don't have a dog, I have a cat, so no pics to post, but I want to pet all the pups.

Good morning, Hakuna Matata!

Maura: Buddy is so sweet!

I have never had a dog.....or any pet, for that matter..... but I do have a little grand-doggie! His name is Stitch and here he is on Christmas day resting in his new UNC sweater (a gift from his grandma, natch!)

Hello Hakuna Matata! There are some cute pups here! My crazy dog Skippy can not pass up an opportunity to meet other dogs. Here's a more dignified one, a less dignified one and one with his cast from last year's 'broken toe' incident.

These two are my wife's fur kids. This was taken when we first got them four years ago. They are brother & sister and love to chase rabbits.

Hello, Hakuna Matata and thank you for hosting this meet-and-greet with the photogenic pooches!

I thought I'd bring some special treats for all your pooches. Yes, these are all doggie treats!

I don't have any pups myself--two cats in a small apartment--but I'm lucky enough to live in an area of Pgh that's very dog friendly. I live near Frick Park, with some areas being leash-free, and acres and acres of green space and trails. I live in Squirrel Hill, which has tons of dog lovers. But it's the neighborhood right next door--Regent Square--that is dog nirvana. There's even a hair salon there (for humans) that sells doggie shampoo and conditioner. I'm also very proud of our Animal Rescue League. And I haven't done any yet, but we do have the occasional 5K that's open to dogs.

Connie: Thanks for the invite! Good luck and have a great time in Little Rock! I'm all for the Girls Weekends! And you and Susie will have a great time--try not to get in too much trouble, you hear? ;)

Mary: Welcome back home! There's nothing like sleeping in one's own bed!

Syko: What a fun picture of your princess! Love the expression on her face.

Dave: I can see why Erica fell in love with "the vicious creature." :rotfl2: I take it your area has several dog-friendly events, as well? Thanks for starting the new walker thread. I know a lot of our new WISHmates will appreciate the community! (And thanks to Tracy for bumping the old one!)

Margie: That's a great, all-around WO routine you've got going. :thumbsup2 I use an elliptical on my XT days and substituted it in the late fall when an injury prevented me from all-out training for the marathon. I'm not sure if it negatively affected my stride--I ended up walking most of the marathon--but I do believe it was good to keep my cardio endurance up with no impact. Wish I could be of more help.

Jennifer: WTG on your 4 1/2 miles!

Scott: Good job with the fat burner program. I don't like hitting the incline on the TM, but it does make a difference. Hope your snow melts soon!

Lily: Kirby looks ready to paint the town red! I'd imagine 2 miles is really good exercise for him. (Somehow I'd imagined him as a BIG dog when you've talked about him before. Probably because he's got a big heart.)

Maura: Buddy has that inquisitive look I associate with labs. And looks ready to go for a run at a moment's notice, too. The M & Ms? Must be a great story there.

Marci: Hey, why does "pet the pups" sound a little PG-13 rated? :confused3 :lmao: (I know, it's my hearing.)

Jeanne: Stitch looks soooooo comfortable and contented. Must be because he loves his Christmas sweater. (And maybe all the holiday treats.) You're a good grandma.

Corinna: Skippy looks very calm and meditative in that first post. Not at all bouncing off the walls that way I imagined. He's obviously very image conscious. :rotfl:

Jack: Awwww. Lady Belle and Max have the same expression on their faces! My cats are siblings, too, from a rescue although they looking nothing alike. My cats would also like to chase rabbits, in theory, but unlike Lady Belle and Max I don't think they could quite work up the energy. Those two look like bundles of running fun!

Hi all,

Just back from 30 minute, 3.5 mile speed workout. Very good workout, much better than yesterday. Ran all my intervals at sub 7 (most around 6:55), now if I could just figure out how to get that to come out outside of speed training. Warm up and cool down at 8:30 pace, recoveries at 9:30.

Jack, Are those King Charles Cavaliers? I've been thinking about getting one when I move into a house in the fall.

They are precious. I want one!

Alright, I can't resist showing off my baby. And by baby, I mean 70 lbs of teeth and muscle. :lmao:

This is Jack, the German Shepherd. Looking a bit silly at bath time, and also causing some problems on my fiance's work laptop. We joke that since my fiance takes him to work almost every day, he probably knows the computer system as well as anyone!

In other news, but since this is the dog show, I just got a call from my mom an hour or so ago telling me that our sheltie, which we got when I was 14 years old, Sparky, passed away today. It was not at all surprising; he's "ancient" (to quote the boarding kennel when I picked him up for my parents about 6 months ago) and has had trouble with tumors for over a year. I just really didn't expect it to be today, so I'm still a bit in shock. I have a flight booked to visit my family in 2 weeks, so I'm kind of sad that I didn't get to see him one last time, but I'm glad he's not in pain anymore. So, here's also a picture of Sparky from the last time I saw him, back in October.

It's great seeing pictures of everyone's pets! I think you can know a lot about a person's personality by seeing their dog!

Poor Skippy with the broken toe! Our Jack broke his *tail* of all things, last summer while hiking. And the worst part is, he's a "second-hand" dog so we don't know how he spent the first year of his life, but it DEFINITELY was not the first time, judging from the kinks in that thing! Anyway, lucky for Jack, they don't put a cast on a broken tail, but we were just given some anti-inflammatories and the instructions to not let him hit his tail on anything. :rotfl2: Easier said than done!

Hey guys!!! I had to come in and see the pups (and share my babies) even though I'm still at work and need to finish up. We are having computer probs again at home and the laptop is not easy to post pics on and such...
