Hakuna Matata March-ing in like Lions!!

Jack, I think you made a good decision. I did not want to say anything but there are other things about the area that might not have worked for ya. We can talk at WDW. Oh I was asked to put in for the Command College, my NA story is not positive.

I hit the TM this morn for a couple of miles. Work still wears on my mind.

Happy B-Day Mark.

Better get after it....

Happy Friday everyone! Looks like it's finally warming up, I'm definitely looking forward to spending more time outside. It has been a long winter! I went to the gym last night and remembered to bring my new runners (New Balance 769) with me. Ran on the treadmill for a few minutes and the shoes feel different but good. There seems to be a little extra cushioning on the balls and heel areas. These ones have a little less stability than my Asics but the person fitting me for shoes mentioned that if I was running in a shoe that was too stable, it could be the cause of my knee problems. I guess I'll give this pair a shot and see what happens.

Margie - So far I've just sketched out ideas. I was thinking this was going to be a two pager but after making a list of all the stuff I have, it seems like it might be a couple of pages. Did you make a page for your bib?

Scott - Kewl! I didn't know you were a diving instructor! I tried out Scuba gear for the first time when I did the Seas Aqua Tour a couple of years ago. Took some getting use to - though everyone else in my group picked up on the breathing technique right away.

Lynn - Congrats on the team leader position!!

Connie - Have a fun weekend with your grandkids! When I was younger, I loved spending the weekend at my grandparents' house!

Mark - :bday: No better place to spend it than WDW! Hope you have a fantastic day!

Sue - Are you enjoying the warm weather! Fridays are usually my 1% bad eating day :)

Eva - Still working long days  We miss you!

Jen - How did your potluck go?

Dave/Erica - :wave2:

Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Scott- Thanks, as they everything happens for a reason right. I Think it actually helped me here. I did take your response earlier into consideration, sometimes the things Not said are the things you hear the loudest.
You & your wife are PADI? Very cool :thumbsup2 That's a huge deal here in the Ocean State.
I know a few people that went through the Command College, again a big feather in the cap. I found the most important thing I took from the NA is the networking. I'm certain you'll find the same at the Command College. With your determination I'm sure you'll get it.

Finally recover from my long long work night- I'm not as young as I used to be I guess..........

Vicky- Do the New Ballance fit smaller than others? Always looking for The Better Shoe" if there is such a beast.

Hope everyone is doing well, the weather is breaking and should be nice for the weekend. Cheers!

Hi all!

I always forget that a new thread is started every month. I was wondering why I wasn't getting any updates!:confused3 So, anyway, now I'm all caught up.

I'm still at my DD's helping out while she is recovering from her surgery. It's been a tough few days. Turns out she was having an adverse reaction to her pain meds and they were keeping her awake at night, so she was only getting a few hours of sleep. Finally got that straightened out and she developed a cough. Not good when you're recovering from heart surgery. Went to her family doctor and he gave her something for the cough, so hopefully things will get better from here.

Went outside to walk/run this morning. Windy but still managed. I'll send my times to Connie later.

Got a 7k next weekend. Hope the weather is good for that!

Mary

Vicky, Potluck went well. I was able to avoid meat easily enough.

Denise, Sounds like you are having a wonderful trip!

As for me, I did a nice easy 4-miler in 35 minutes.

Jennifer

Hi guys, quick drive by before I head off to the gym for light workout of stretching and calistetics to warm up for weights.

Good luck to all the princesses who have gathered at the mouse house.

Denise, hope your having extra fun to share with us when you return.

Have an awesome weekend.

Happy Panda:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

Congratulations to Jack for making a great decision and hearing so clearly that which isn't said!!!!

My grandkids have "toys" here and love the freedom my small town offers them. They can ride bikes and just enjoy hanging out. I will be riding with them!! We should have a great time.

MaryJ, I am sorry we keep losing you! I guess I should try to send out PM's or something! I'm sorry about the cough and the meds for your DD! THis will all be a distant memorty before long.

Margie, pics will coming in soon.....I hope! :rolleyes1

Everybody seems well and happy!

See ya! Connie

Good Morning, TEAM! :wave2:

Mary- give Anna our :grouphug: PTL the doctor was able to adjust her meds (and I hear Mom's cooking helped too) was able to take care of the problems.

Thinking of all of our WISHers at WDW for the Princess...Have Fun and enjoy all the moments. Denise, are you doing the Princess?

Connie-:thanks: Enjoy those precious grandchildren and the bike ride!

Vicky -
Margie - So far I've just sketched out ideas. I was thinking this was going to be a two pager but after making a list of all the stuff I have, it seems like it might be a couple of pages. Did you make a page for your bib?
I do not do complicated. Oh, Yes, I did my BIB; pages for the intro, the hotel, the WISH meet, the Race Day, The Race, the Finisher Certificate, me & the Donald Medal, I did not have any pictures of the Illumination & dessert. I will send you pictures of some of my pages this week. First I just decide on the paper I want to use, as it needs to flow for the whole section. I did some Mickey but mostly keeping 2009 as 'The Donald' - then do layouts - let it sit where I can look at it several times - make adjustment/changes/crop pictures - glue down - and add embellishments.

:hippie: Enjoy your workout!

Jack - the perfect shoe for you would never fit my imperfect feet and I would still have problems. Would it not be so nice if we all have the $$$ to have our shoes custom made! Oh, NO even at 63 my feet keeping growing...No kidding. :confused3

Sue- I have some question about your work out on the elliptical. I just started using it. So I need to know things like how fast you increased your time-the pounds you use-steps per minutes - etc.

 raining hard and that thunder sounds nasty. I might just go to the gym - do the upper body and do some miles on the DM there then maybe I can get outside to finish the walk later. This getting up at 4:am has given me a nice productive week- might Never have another one like it!!!!!

Everyone have a great weekend! Anne, Connie, Dave & Erica, Denise & Mark, Scott & Lynn, Diane, Eva, Jack, Jennifer, Jen, Jessica, Kathy, MaryJ, Maroo, Nichole, Sue, and Vicky!

Morning Kids,

We were expecting rain but it's sunny now, go figure, we will still work on taxes today....

Jack, thanks I am a good networker and know that is always helpful for sure.

Wishing the best for folks at WDW doing the Princes, I wish it was a Princes and Pirates theme.

Shoes are such a delima, I was a NB person due to wide foot, then found Asics which I now prefer, just gotta find what works for you. Just get frustrated when the models are always changing.

Good Afternoon Team!

It is now snowing, no I take that back, it has been snowing, right now the sun is trying to come out again!

Jack - I always thought New Balance shoes were larger than others, I always wore an 8 1/2 (wide - I have neuromas, need a wide shoe) in New Balance, and when I went to a running store to really be fitted for shoes, they put me in a 9 1/2 in Ascis, Mizuno, Pearl Izumi and Saucony - maybe because none of those shoes come in a wide width, and they were just giving me a wider shoe by giving me a larger size :confused3 .

MaryJ - have some more pixiedust: for your DD (and for you also)!

Everyone sounds like they have been working out so well - I really feel like a slug next to all of you! I did make it for 4 miles on Friday - but I was trying for 6, I was just going really slow, and I still had too many other things that had to get done, so couldn't spend any more time out there. Today, we only made it out for a short dog walk, 1.3 miles! I do not have to be anywhere next week, except for Wednesday - just alot of "homework" - so maybe I can get a few more miles in.

Happy Belated Birthday to Mark - hope you had a great day!

I did get in a 5K on the TM this morn, wind and cold and snow. Gained a pound last week Bummer, I definately did not get enough exercise last week.

You guys are doing great getting stronger for sure....

Taxes finished , efiled and accepted, used Disney Visa to Pay taxes, so will atleast get Disney rewards.....

Thinking of starting a business so we are meeting with others this morn for breakfast. Could be good.

Good Morning Team!

I can finally post a bit more than previously since I'm on a "regular" pc rather than that tiny one. It's difficult to type anything accurately on it.

We had a wonderful trip. The temps when we left were well into the 80's and sunny. We are back in NH and the temps aren't that bad. Streets are clear at the moment but we do expect some snow tomorrow. We can really see that the sun is stronger and things are melting quickly. We are on the DOWN side of winter.

I could really see a change in Mark and I on vacation. We slept good, we look rested and refreshed. We did a lot of walking both regular and power. We usually go to the Flying Fish for Mark's birthday dinner. Neither one of us wanted to do all that so we ended up going to Beaches and Cream, sitting at the counter watching the young girls make sundae's and eating our birthday dinner there. Mark had a salad and I had a chicken sandwich. We didn't even save room for dessert but it was a nice evening. A table behind us got a kitchen sink and we took a picture of that - close enough for my waistline!

We never made it to Illuminations. One night at the beginning of the week it was too darn cold so we came back to the room to watch TV instead. On the 6th - his b-day we wanted to go. But the kids sent Mark a present through Disney florist and I wanted to make sure we were in the room, in case we had to (we did not) so I delayed going to Epcot - we were fixing my suitcase. The retractable handle would not go down so Mark used is nail clippers to "fix" it. That took quite a bit of time and finally I said, let's go so we left about 10 min before 8 to head to EPCOT. Well for some reason, Illuminations was at 8 and we missed the whole thing. A bit disappointing but we did see the finale at the top of the bridge by ESPN so we made the best of the night by going to B&C.

Mark did get is $75 shopping card because we are annual passholders. Which he promptly spent on the kids, (squirt included) and me. He couldn't find anything he wanted and I believe it has to be spent That day. The best part of the trip is one of my favorite things to do. Walk through EPCOT from the BW to the monorail. Take the monorail to TTC and then the Boat from TTC to the MK. We did that but on his b-day we took the monorail to the GF, rented a little boat and off to the 7 seas lagoon, and bay lake. It was a warm day - perfect for being on the water. We did that for about an hour.

Not your typical Disney vacation. Lots of walking, very little rides but some time to be together, soak up the sun and warmth and finally refresh ourselves. It is always the best vacation for the 2 of us. WE need to have that week during the dog days of winter to look forward to and Disney never seems to disappoint us in the weather dept.

I understand the Princesses are running this morning. We did see a lot of groups of women out and about. I felt a bit of sorrow that I had not extended my stay or changed my ressie to include that race but in the end it would not have been fair to Mark. So, it's best we did what we planned.

Off to do laundry, cook and clean. It's sort of good to be home.

denise

Denise thank you for sharing your trip memories with us.

Erica and I are the same way we do some rides but just the mental release of being there is what keeps us coming back. We love the Ferry ride to MK also, we did that with Scott and Lynn last trip.:cloud9:

The people we have met through Disney boards are some of the very best, giving, caring and totally wonderful people we have ever met. We have made friends for life and the hugs we share at each meeting are like being reunited with brothers and sisters.

Once Erica and I retire we plan to spend a lot more time connecting with friends that we can only see a few times a year now.

Our push right now is to get out of debt so we can begin gathering some Disney DVC points. The carrot in front of us to keep us focused.:)

Have an awesome sunday y'all.

Happy Panda:hippie:

Thinking of starting a business so we are meeting with others this morn for breakfast. Could be good.

Scott - Good Luck!!! we'll keep our fingers crossed!

Everyone- How far out do you book the Marathon Weekend Reservations and where are most people staying? We've stayed at many of the resorts and like Poly or Wilderness Lodge the best. However for the run we're thinking the Yacht & Beach for proximity to Epcot. Any thoughts?

We stay at the BW or The Dolphin but you cannot walk through EPCOT before the race, you still have to take the bus. We have a friend that wanted to enter Epcot at the International Gateway and walk over to the finish line around 7:30 am - which on any other day would be ok, but on the day of the 1/2 - which is not part of the route, she was not able to, she had to go back and take a bus to Epcot from the Dolphin.

We had no problem getting buses from the Dolphin or BW. There was a long wait to board the bus for the return trip. I think being on a Monorail resort would have certain benefits.

denise

Scott, Hope the meeting goes well; I'm sure you'd be a great business man.

Jack, Good luck with the shoe search. New Balances don't work for me (narrow feet; high arches), but I do love going to the outlet here.

Denise, Did you get to see any of the princess?

As for me, I did 8 miles on my normal course in 1 hour 10 minutes (8:45 pace). It felt really comfortable.

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

Mental Health Day

We all know that our mental-health days are just as important as our workouts, recovery days, and proper fueling. So, Monday's question for the 'Ohana mixer, which starts here on the team thread, is....

If you had an unexpected free day--no work or other obligations--and $20 to spend just on you, what would you do?

So please share those small indulgences that are essential to your mental well-being. Hopefully, we'll get new ideas and find kindred souls.

There are three little rules. Just because.

  1. You have to spend at least part of the $20 on you. No giving it away, no saving it for a rainy day, and no spending the $20 entirely on your beloved partner, cute kidlets, or BFF. You can spend time with these folks, of course, and some of the money. But the focus is on YOU and what you want to do.
  2. You can choose to work out, if you wish, or your mental health day can coincide with a recovery day.
  3. What you do on your mental health day has to reflect your everyday, local life. No "I just happened to be in Paris..." :rotfl2: You can imagine, however, that you have perfect weather.

As usual, full stories that are related to your mental-health day are welcome. Not to mention the odd digression! And you're always welcome to bring drinks, goodies, and profound thoughts on the meaning of life.

Hi TEAM! :wave2:

I took Saturday & Sunday as rest days, but did get in several miles walking while serving at a wedding today.

Back to the up at 4:am in the morning-gym by 5:am

Vicky- emailed you a few photos of my scrapbook

Debra-I have no idea what I could do with $20! Favorite things are pedicures, massages, or even getting my nails done are very special treats for me! No way could I get any of them around here for $20.

Mental Health Day: Weather-60 degrees, light breeze, and partly sunny- a perfect day for a long walk!

Jack-we reserved our rooms at the POP for January 2010 - they told us to call back when the promotional rates became available. I like the convenience of the POP & busses, the rooms are okay, we do add the fridge, as we do not spend a lot of time in our room. And it was very nice that we had special friends who drove to WDW that went the extra mile and went grocery shopping for us.

Scott- hope all went well with your meeting.

Denise- thanks for the vacation report and glad to hear it was relaxing and renewing for both of you...Happy Belated Birthday, Mark!

Denise - I can relate about the little laptop - I am using my little one so that I can sit in front of the TV,and it takes twice as long to type, because I am always having to backspace to fix errors.

Jack - we willl be staying at Old Key West - for Tower of Terror 13K, we stay at Boardwalk because transportation is not great - but transportation is good to the Marathon races, so that does not really matter. OKW is one of our favorites.

I took the dogs out for a walk today, we made it for 6 miles, sometimes even at a almost decent pace!

Hello team! Yep...it's me...I'm alive! Still working Long hours, going to night school and trying to get a run in when I can. I got in 12 miles last week. Only got out three days. Better than nothing though! Jordan and I officially joined the gym yesterday, so I'm hoping that helps. We are done with school in 3 weeks so that will give me lots more time to get my miles in. :thumbsup2

Oh and I can't stop thinking about the princess half. Hope our WISH girls did us proud! I'm sure they did!!!

Vicky - I miss you guys too..I need my life back :grouphug:

Denise - Did I read correctly? You went to Beaches and Cream and didn't eat ice cream?!?! Man oh man...you are a strong woman!!

Margie - Doesn't look like the Martian is in the cards for me. I did see a thing about it in my Runners World...sounds sooo fun!!

Dave - Can you help me on weights? What should I be doing if I want to tone up my arms and shoulders for summer dresses? I prefer free weights...

Mental Health Day - As much as I love the pups, to truly get mental health, they would be at Grandma and Grandpa's for the day. I would wake up (60 degrees and sunny) and go for a nice LSD 8 miles. Then I would come home and fix a big breakfast fr Jordan and I. We would tool around town on his motorcycle (because now it's 70 degrees and sunny)...maybe grab some steaks to grill and rent a movie. Sounds great to me!

Jack - I'm Eva btw...Nice to meet you! I stayed at Marriott last marathon because I waited too long to book. And "on-property" hotel would have been better.

Scott - Looks like you have some heavy work stuff going on. Best wishes!!
