Hakuna Matata-Happy April

Happy Friday everyone! It's a rainy and blustery day in Toronto... makes me wish I was sitting at home with a nice warm blanket and a mug of green tea. Hoping everyone is having better weather in their parts of the wood :goodvibes

My PT says I can run this weekend but only for 10 minutes. I'm not sure if he meant 10 minutes each day or 10 minutes total. I have a feeling it's the latter but I guess it's a start. So I will keep on walking and stretching! He says I have to work (a lot) on core strength still.

Scott - Snow? Yikes! Actually, I heard something on the radio about how we might get freezing rain today. I can't believe we're still getting this kind of weather in April!

Cindy - Take good care of your foot! Glad to hear that it's feeling better and you were able to go out for a run :goodvibes

Lynn - Are you going to count the painting as exercise? It's a lot of work - lots of set up and clean up! And lots of work on the arms! Hope it warms up for you soon enough!!

Dave & Erica - Lots :wizard: and  Hope the surgery went well!

Out of curiosity, how many people here are going to the Minnie Marathon in May? I'm looking forward to meeting some of our team :goodvibes

Quick lunch break here,

We Will Be at WDW for the Minnie,

:cheer2: Erica's, surgery went well, she is on her way home!:cheer2:

She said everything went well...as well as she could tell as she was sleeping!
Sounded good but just a bit loopy yet. :goodvibes

Hi guys.

We got up at 4am, and headed off to Nashville. It was raining pretty hard all the way down but we beat rush hour traffic. While Erica's surgery was going on a huge storm went across Tenn. There were several tornado warnings all around us. Of course Erica was blissfully unaware. She was in surgery for 2 hours, one hour per foot and then after 30 min in the recovery room they let me go back.

She is doing fine and the procedure went very well. We had to stop when we got home to collect her meds and now she is bedded down in the reclinner. She has big shoes with hard thick bottoms and a walker.

I'll chalk this up as a rest day since I really don't feel like doing anything now. I did vacuum and laundry. Yes Lynn the back yard is already needing mowing again.

Everyone have a super evening.

Erica -- Here's to a speedy recovery! Glad to hear all went well.

I managed to get two workouts in this week but barely. I will post my miles/hours tomorrow. Forgive me for my laziness but it's been a long day.

Best wishes to everyone racing this weekend! Go Team! :cheer2:

Kristen

Hi Everyone,

I ran 6 slow and easy miles today. The foot is holding out. Yeah!!

Margie: Thanks for the Erica updates.

Erica: Lots of good WISHes for a quick recovery.

Dave: Take good care of Erica. You deserve a rest day.

Bunny: I'll be at Minnie. Hope to meet you there. Are you planning on going to the POR meet on Saturday?

Lynn: Good job on the painting. Are you guys planning a new project once the basement is done, or will you take a break for a while?

Kristen: Hope you get some rest.

Connie: Thanks for the pixie dust. I think it might be working.

Have a great night everyone.
Cindy

Well everyone seems to be doing ok for the team.

Erica and Dave, good luck in the following days towards recovery. The body is a well oiled machine that does need some updates and maintenance now and then. Like that machine you either pay now and prevent or pay later - at a much higher cost - for repairs.

Erica's turn for comfort and care and I'm sure Dave's turn will be around the corner again with the teeth - yes it's always something!

Will send a PM for my miles and times. Saturday in NH and it's raining, mmmmmm what shall I do, spring cleaning or sewing - we'll see.

I vote you sew. I'm still pondering if the needle is heavy machinery yet. Will let you know!

Cindy, we always have a project LOL!!!!! Well it seems like it.

Last night we went to Denver and saw BB King, What a great show, 82 years old, his Blues Band is great. Got home late.

As I expected no rest foe me, here at work, and know I need to be in tomorrow. It will be worth it.

Looks like it is to be a windy day here, so just as well.

I hope to get in a good long run tomorrow, my little brain and body needs it.

So good to hear all is going well for all. Are we getting smarter with our age, NOT!!!!!.

Have a great day and enjoy.

Need to learn more about the POR meet, for the Minnie, but I gotta go see Arlo for sure on 5/3.

Later Kids, Back to work.

Good Morning Team!

As you see, Scott is at work! He already posted about the concert, the roads were dry by the time we left for it. By this time tomorrow, I'm hoping to not see any sign of the white stuff on the ground. There are some big drifts around, so we will see how long it takes to melt.

Good to hear about Erica's surgery!

Dave, if it rains that much, how do you manage to mow the lawn on a daily basis? I always found it very difficult to mow wet lawn! And that is with a power mower!

I do not expect the basement to be done before late summer at the earliest, I am hoping it is done before Christmas because I want to put my Christmas tree down there, it does not fit well upstairs.

Wind has calmed down a little bit, may get a chance to get dogs out today. Yesterday, we braved the 40+mph wind just to go out to the mailbox at the end of the street. Between the wind and icy roads, I nearly got blown down the street! I did get weight training and a pilates tape in yesterday, so got at least some time in!

Have a good day!

Morning all.

Lynn, it's been nuts here and I mow as I get a morning without rain where the grass has mostly dried up. Last year we had a drought and I didn't have to mow but once a month. This year we are already 6.3 inches over average of rainfall. The lakes and creeks that were nearly dry last year are over flowing their banks this year. It takes a lot longer to push mow so I do a section, quarter acher at a time, before work. I had enough mornings last week that I was able to get it all done but it was monday or tues when I did the first section so it's ready again.

The other problem is my workout time has risen from an average of an hour to an average of 3 hours at a time. I'm not walking any more but I'm stretching, and doing calistetics every workout and weights every other day.

One of the theories that I buy into is that your body adapts to routine and what you do enouth becomes routine. So if I gradually work my speed up and keep the weights and stretching going progressively to new levels I'll see slow but continous improvement.

For the first time ever I'm putting all the pieces together at one time:

Eating properly
Walk training
Stretching
Calistetics
Weights
Rest
Positive attitude

I've done all piecemeal but never put it all togehter. Usually if I'm walking strong I neglect the rest. I usually stay positive but when you have nagging injuries it's hard.

Sorry today is all about me but I'm kinda in that mode where my main focuses are getting Erica back to 100% and becoming a better athlete myself. Please know that I love all of you and think of you all dailey. My relationship with you, my friends, inspires me to believe that we can together accomplish amazing things.

Dave, give Erica extra hugs and TLC from us today, okay :goodvibes I hope she will be feeling better soon and back on those feet!

Bunnyfoo, I will be at the Minnie too - I am so excited

Well, I am off to shower from my workout as I will be the matron of honor today in my best friend's wedding. The workouts have paid off and I am not wearing the size I would have worn a couple of years ago, lol! :teacher:

What the heck happened here in NH. As usual the weather people were WRONG and it turned Sunny. I was all set to clean my house and poof sun came out. Put my ipod on and off I went for 4 miles - alone at my own pace.

Did 4 miles in an hour and I'm almost back up to snuff. I have one hill at the end of 3 miles that is tough and I had to slow a bit mid way up but it's early in the process so I'm fine with that.

Dave I know what you mean about working smart. Since I started PT I now know that I need to work on the whole body not just the legs. I did my shoulder exercises this morning and even some last night before bed. It counts as times for my team so I don't mind and the up side, my neck is so much better. People at work can see the change in my eyes - not so strained from the pain.

I put on some clothes today that I had not worn in a while and they look better. Still not back where I want, I do have those one pair of pants that I want to get into but it will come.

We won't be mowing here in NH for another month but we can at least rake up the mess we left behind last fall.

Take care team, go for a walk, it's a beautiful day!

Denise I'm happy to hear that you are feeling better. I do a lot of training on the hills. We live in a hilly town so it's easy to do. Not the hills are my edge in a race. When I'm training and hit a hill I accelerate up it. It helps to have a mantra to help you. Mine is "Bring it on". that is what I'm mentally saying to myself when the hill gets difficult.

Margie, thank you for letting eveyone know yesterday that Erica had come through it good. She is hurting today so she will probably not get out of bed.

Oh Spirit, that's super news about the new size!!!

Ok lunch break over back to the yard work.:)

Good morning, all!

I got up early yesterday morning, came in here and read all the posts from the week and posted a message. I THOUGHT I posted a message, but it apparently didn't take. :confused3

We had a busy day yesterday. I walked 8.5 miles (and it was COLD!), then we went up to Colorado Springs to see DH's family - his twin from California was visiting their mother and the brother that was in the bad motorcycle accident just before ToT. His children, who live in Denver, came down and we all had a nice visit. Then we came back to Canon City and visited my parents, then hit the grocery store and then home. Today will be laundry :laundy: and cleaning and probably some cooking for the week ahead.

I feel like I am, like Dave, finally getting all the parts together. I even lost a little weight last week!

Erica - get better fast! Just be careful not to overdo in your anxiety to get moving again.....

Dave - I know how good it feels to get everything going in the right direction at once. Now, if we can just keep it there......

Denise - I was betting you'd go sew. Good for you for getting out and exercising!

Scott and Lynn - glad you got to go and enjoy the concert!

Connie - thanks for putting the smiley face by our thread! Now I can find the spot I want to be FAST!!!

Cindy - I hope your foot gets healed quicklly!

Everyone, keep up the good work!

:wave2: Good morning Friends, DO's and teammates of every team and especially Hakuna Matata!!!

Debra I have already added your wonderful generosity to the spreadsheet. If you ever need miles, please let our team know and we will take care of you!

Erica Love an PD. I can't imagine having your independence taken away (although temporarily) so thoroughly! But very soon, you will be up on those poor feets and going strong, and towards that end, you have all my best wishes. Please be careful and think about all the painless fun headed your way! :flower3:

Cindy I'm glad your food is better. Keep RICE-ing it! and take care.

Dave How wonderful that you have it all together!!! Now, don't forget where you keep it!!! You will need it from now on! pirate:

Denise Great!!!! Congratulations on fitting into clothes. It's just a matter of a week or two until they look Mah-velous simply Mah-velous!!! :woohoo:

Lynn and Scott I hope that you don't have snow all summer! I want a break from the wind and as long as you are getting snow, I fear I will have the gail forces!!! LOL Of course, if you DO have snow all summer it will give you plenty of time to get your house all fixed up pretty for the party!!! You are inviting us all over for a party....right???

Kim and Mike Hi! :goodvibes , but please quit sending your cold weather to us and we will send warm weather to you!!! :woohoo:

Margie Hi, how is sweet Margie??

Donna Seen any dolphins lately! When I walk near water I always think of you. I look for dolphins but I think being 8 hours from the coast, I may not see them, but it never hurts to look!

Everybody else....

Yesterday, all I got done was drive and a bit of shopping. I took my daughter for dental surgery and then went to a couple stores to pick up the things she needed. It was an 1 1/2 to her house and then another hour to the dentist office .....and we have gail force winds, again!!

I like that Connie, good advice.

Good morning everyone. I hope everyone woke as I did today, with a song in my heart and a dream of wonderfull adventures to come.

I weighted 167.8 so 15 lbs and it will be 6 weeks tomorrow. Yea Baby!!!

Connie I'm so sorry that this week has been nuts and I'm senile anyway, what days do I need to send you for the week?

I did 1 hour today of cals and stretching today. I'm taking care of Erica so haven't wanted to take a chance on leaving her alone till I have to go to work at noon today so no walking. I'll be back at the walking tomorrow.

Hi Kathy:flower3:

Margie, you have been a busy little bee this weekend.

Denise, glad to hear that your neck is responding to the stretching exercises.

Donna, I know you are studying your little butt off and not much time time to visit, so hi pretty princess.

Scott and Lynn, you guys sleeping in today?

Everyone have a wonderfull Sunday.

Happy Panda:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

Scott had to go to work again today, but he did stay home long enough for us to have breakfast together, then we went to Lowes (in separate cars) and bought some more paint for woodwork and some furniture that I need to refinish. So, I can get on the computer on a weekend!

Morepixiedust: for Erica, hope she is feeling better soon.

We had more snow yesterday! I thought it was supposed to be nice, but wind was 40+mph all day, (the early 13mph reading was just a fluke!) and it snowed all afternoon! Today is sunny, wind is light (10-20mph) so far, and it is supposed to warm up to 55 degrees. Tomorrow it is supposed to be nearly 60 degrees! We thought we were going to get to do some spring yardwork - thatching the lawn and fertilizing the lawn - but between Scott having to work and the snow, that did not happen. Maybe next weekend.

Connie - Of course you will all be invited to the party - but the way it is going, it might be a Christmas party :rotfl2:
I am definately going to get the dogs out today for a walk, if I wait until after lunch, I will feel that I can go for a longer one, it is too near lunchtime now to start. I'm looking for at least 8 miles today, since I did not get the 10 miler in on Friday. Then I will feel more prepared for the Minnie.

Have a good day team!

Hi Guys and Pretty Princesses.

Erica is doing much better today. When I got home she was dressed and ready to go out for dinner at our favorite Mex place Peppers. She is getting along good now with her walker. Not fast but tenacious. Can't keep that babe down for long. Did I mention how proud of her I am?

We are turning in early tonight, big day of exercise, dentist and work tomorrow.

Have a super evening y'all.
