Hakuna Matata-Happy April

Got out today in time for a 3 mile run , felt good, this upcoming week will be hectic till about Wednesday and then the pressure will be off me. Will let ya all know how it goes.

Doubt if I will stop by here much for the next couple of days so be good and have some great workouts.

Good to hear you all are healing well and studying hard.

Looking forward to the Minnie, thinking about adding a few more days to the trip, we will see, this is news to Lynn.

Happy Monday team! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Got on the treadmill yesterday and tried running for a little bit. I thought, 10 minutes feels like a lot and then I realized it was the first time I'd run in about 3 weeks :scared1: My left leg/back still aren't at 100% yet but I'm not sure if that's from the previous injury or because it's my first time running in a while. I have my training session tonight so I'll have to talk to my physio again....

Dave - Glad to hear Erica is doing better!!

Scott - I wish my fiance thought like you! He's always trying to cut down on vacation days.

Lynn - Snow? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll get some better weather :sunny:

Good Monday morning, everyone!

This week will be crazy for me, so I am enjoying a IM chat with my friend, Connie, before starting out. My boss has been out on vacation for 2 weeks and will be gone again today for court. As her back-up, I haven't gotten anything done of my own.....Tomorrow morning I take my Mom in to have cataract surgery and in the afternoon we will be interviewing 2 prospective employees. Wednesday morning, I take Mom back for her check-up, take my Dad to Walmart (he can no longer drive), then interview 2 more people in the afternoon. Thursday and Friday I hope to catch up on some of the stuff I haven't done for the past 2 weeks. :surfweb: Next Monday, DH has a colonoscopy :scared1: so I will be off work for that. Then Thursday after work, I will leave to go to Connie's! I'll spend the night along the way and on Friday we'll go to OKC! Yippee!!!! :cool1: I think I'm ready!

Scott and Lynn, I don't know how you manage to get as much done on your house as you do! If I were doing it, we might have the party at Christmas, 2010!!! LOL!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Good Morning Team!

Yesterday was a beautiful day! The dogs and I ended up walking 11 miles! It was a new loop, and I thought it was going to be 10 miles. There is still some snow on the ground, but it might disappear with the high of 66 today. It will be so nice today, that I want to get outside again, so may do an easy walk with the dogs. Dave - you would be proud of me - I even iced my knees yesterday when I got home (I really dislike icing, it usually makes whatever I'm icing feel worse while the ice is on, but yesterday it felt good, and I think my knees felt better for it.)

With Scott working all weekend, we got virtually nothing done on the basement this weekend. I did start working on refinishing a desk we are going to put in one of the rooms, but that was all. He has mentioned taking a week off just to work on the basement, if he did that, we would really see some progress!

Erica - glad to hear that you are up and about, and feeling well enough to want to go out to dinner!

Kathy - good luck with your week, have fun with your interviews, that was one part of my old job that I do not miss (I can't think of any part of my job that I miss, other than some of the people I worked with!)

Have a good day!

Sounds like the norm is a 'Crazy Week.'

Can you believe that Erica is up and going out to dinner all ready ... amazing woman. Erica, your check up is tomorrow ... correct?

Lynn, I am glad your snow does not stay long. Are the high winds normal you you guys?

Connie, how is your hip?

We actually have sunshine today after several dark, dreary, rain filled days!
I am so hoping to get a walk in outside tonight.

The little guys are sick and my body appears eager to share their experience!

Margie the hip is doing really well. I have torn a page out of Dave's playbook (I hope he doesn't read this and have me prosecuted for vandlism or something.... ) But I am stretching regularly, doing Pilates and weight resistance in an ongoing effort to heal the heal and the hip, keep the back strong and reduce the keg to a 6-pack or less! :rotfl:

Kathy LOL I can't believe I had to come here to find out what your plans were!!! :upsidedow

Erica Congratulations! Sounds like you are doing wonderfully on your recovery. Although, I hate to break it to you....when you get back up on those feets and making miles the game board will look like you are just resting!!! Everyone has been really generous in giving you miles! :grouphug:

Lynn and Scott LOve Christmas parties!!! Can't wait!

Where's everyone else??? Probably over at Robert's site planning their ToT.

Did 7 miles today. My last long mileage until the 1/2 marathon. I think I LOVE taper!!!

High wind is normal thru the winter, they seem to calm down a bit in the summer (or maybe it is just that they are not as noticible when it is warm wind rather than cold wind). It is considered "calm" here in Cheyenne (or any place in Wyoming that is not in the mountains) if the wind is below 15mph.

Today was a beautiful day, I went out for a short walk this afternoon with the dogs, I was so excited to be able to wear shorts and short sleeves! My legs still hurt from yesterdays 11 miles, so it was a slow walk also. Made it 2.75 miles with a pace of 17:05. I did get to my pilates tape, but not to the bowflex for weight training. There are still a couple of patches of snow, but they will not last long. Tomorrow should be warm also, then cooling off on Thursday w/rain or snow again. Ah, Springtime in the Rockies!

Good morning everyone! It's a nice and sunny day here today and it looks like it's going to be warming up each day this week :goodvibes

I had my training session yesterday and my PT watched me run. He had to remind me a couple of times to keep my abs tight but each time I did that I felt like I was holding in my breath. He also noticed that I was hitting the TM pretty hard so I think next time we're going to work on running lightly (anyone have any tips for that). The good news is that he said I can go out running for about 20 minutes at a time several times this week :cheer2:

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

Good morning everyone,

Finally able to get on. I guess work doesn't appreciate me dising on their time. Having problems finding an internet connection. It would just spin and spin.

Terrible training last week. Just not feeling it and I did put the hat & gloves away too soon. Needed them for last Sunday's run. BRRRRRR. In Dec. & Jan. I don't care. I ran on some really cold days. In April I mind! Bring on some heat. If it doesn't warm up a bit I'm going to really suffer through the Minnie.

Everyone take care of your injuries and don't push too hard...happy training...Sue

Hi everyone! No time to chat. Heading to the gym this afternoon and will hopefully do better than last week!

Have a great Tuesday!

Kristen

Good Morning Team (or maybe it is closer to Good Afternoon!)

I got out early for my walk this morning, as the wind is supposed to pick up today. I got my 6 miles in, it was not easy, maybe I am still recovering from my 11 miles the other day? The dogs loved it though. It is another beautiful day, that all changes tomorrow, rain or snow, high of 40 instead of 70!

Scott has been really busy at work, so I feel I have to add miles for him also!

Everyone have a great day!

Went for 3 miles with the hub and Miranda tonight. Good walk and only 45 min.

Will do some "core" stuff too as I've been given the green light by the Dr. He's released me from weekly care and I will now go only on an as needed basis. I have 2 more appts for PT and one will be for exercise for my knee which is a bit of a problem.

I'm good to go and can do almost any kind of exercise. :yay:

Have a good one.

denise

Denise that's great that you are cleared for takeoff. Don't look back lady the future is in our hands to mold.

Lynn, glad you and the sled dogs got to go out and play. Thank Scott for us for doing what he does. (Law Enforcement)

Connie, the complete workouts are working well for me, I'm really feeling strong. I'm seeing definition I haven't seen for a long time and I'm putting in some real good times for only 5 weeks after an injury layoff.

Margie, Sue and all the pretty Hakuna Matata princesses:flower3:

Kim trust in Robert getting the reservations done, he and Scott are experts at doing the Disney.

I sound like a broken record but today was another awesome workout. 4 miles on the tready, since it was 28 degrees this morning. Last to miles were at 12 mpm pace. I kept pushing the front bar so the legs wanted to crank it up a notch, but I'm staying true to plan and keeping it slower.

Last thursday I did the 4 mile hill route outside in my second best time ever. I'm really looking forward to doing the track intervals as soon as it will get at least a little more like spring weather out there. Every morning it's 40 degrees or below or raining. I'm not doing speed work in cold weather, not till I've had a good speed base built up.

Of course after the walk I did the complete stretching and calistetics routine. I finished everything off with some pilates exercises that AmyBeth tought us over on the core training thread.

Sorry about being so long winded but I haven't got to visit with you guys for a while.

We went to see "Run Fatboy Run", good flick, well worth the trip.

Have an awesome evening y'all.

I get to be first to post today, YAY. I think that comes from getting up at 5am so I could get all my gym time in before Erica wakes.

I was my lowest weight so far this morning 167 even. so a total of 15.8 since the dental adventure. The Veggie/fish eating is a good way to drop a little body pudge. I even had a big meal at Red Lobster yesterday and popcorn at the movie.

I hope everyone wakes to a beautiful warm morning. I sure would like a warm morning. It's 31 degrees here so it's another treadmill day. After I get home I have to get Erica moving so we can go to Nashville for a Dr followup.

Off to the hamster wheel.

Good morning everyone.

I only have a few minutes but wanted to pop in to say hi. My last few runs have been pretty good. The foot seems to be much better. I'm still trying to baby it until the Minnie.

Dave: Congrats on getting in such good shape. It's amazing what you can do when you really commit yourself to it.

Bunnyfoo: As far as running lighter, I've read that you should imagine that you are trying to run across hot coals. That way you place your feet lightly and don't keep them on the ground for too long. Good luck.

Lynn: Nice job getting in so many miles this week. Hope your legs are feeling better.

Denise: Congrats on getting the release from your Dr. Hope you continue to improve.

Wilbur: Sorry about the cold weather. I hope you get your share of warmer weather soon.

Connie: Good job on doing your stretching. Enjoy the taper.

That's all for now. Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Good Morning Team!

Today does not look as bad as I thought it was going to be. Although it is VERY windy (30-40mph wind gusting over 50mph!), the sun is out, so it looks like we might not get the snow and rain forcasted earlier. I'm waiting out the wind in hopes that it will decrease this afternoon. It is only 30 degrees out, and high of 40 is forcast (after being over 70 the past 2 days!), but I can handle the cold, if the wind calms a bit.

Hope Erica's follow up appt goes well today.

I have printed out all of Amy's suggestions from the core thread, and plan to implement her daily training exercises on the days I do not do a pilates tape.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi y'all.

I'm pretty pumped today. I was 167 even on the scale, that is the lowest so far. Just a little more love handle to send packing and I'll be happy.

Today was another complete workout with the high light being that I walked the last mile at 10:54 pace.

Hope eveyone has a super day like I'm having.

Hi everyone! It's a rest day and I am in taper!!! Yea, I love it!

I hope everyone has as good a day as Perky Panda too! Especially, ME!

Perky? I thought that term was reserved for describing other things, like ummm girls.

But yes I had a super day. We drove to Nashville for Erica's first check up after surgery. She is healing well and has multi colored feet.

It turned out to be a beautiful day, 72 degrees and sunny. To bad I already had my workout done. Maybe it will be warm in the wee hours of the morning.

Hello, team!

Can you believe it's snowing here????? :scared1: Is this winter EVER going to end???? :headache:

I did a short walk on the riverwalk yesterday morning while I waited for my mom to get done with her cataract surgery. It was gorgeous outside! It was nearly 80 degrees yesterday, with snow today. Go figure.

Today was a rest day. You can't prove it by me! I feel about like I've done a half-marathon today! LOL! I'm hoping tomorrow and Friday will be a little more calm.....no one to take to the dr, and no one to interview, so maybe I'll get rid of some of the piles on my desk!

Erica - way to go on your dr visit! I'm glad you're progressing well!

Cindy, I am glad to hear your foot is getting better!

Bunnyfoo, I am glad to hear that you're feeling better and able to work out again!

Dave - good for you! You sound like you're doing just mah-velously! I don't want your dental problems, but I do envy you the weight loss. I feel like I am struggling for every tenth of a pound.....Hey! I AM struggling for every tenth of a pound! :rotfl2: I have major muchies tonight, but I am keeping my fingers busy on the computer so I don't eat something.....I am determined to do well like my friend, Dave! :)

Margie, I hope you didn't catch anything nasty from your little guys! Do you have two grandchildren?

Denise, sounds like you're on the mend, too! Great news!

Kristen, glad you stopped by for a minute! I bet you're busy making ready for your hubby to get home!

Sue , I don't post from work, either. I somehow have my doubts that the taxpayers of the state of Colorado would want me spending time and resources for this, so I always wait until I get home!

Lynn and Scott, are you getting any of this snow?

Well, I'm about worn to a frazzle, so I think I'm going to get some sleep. Take care, everyone!
