Hopefully there will not be a lot of traffic at that time of day.
Glad you & Robert had fun with the cupcakes!
Today is rainy so need to get project planned out of the boys-

Lynn- how did the walk on the trail go?
Safe travels picking up Scott!

Mike-hope you are able to get your run in today.
I like Brook's shoes too...do you ever use runningwarehouse.com

How is the Girl's in Training Program working out?

Scott- Today is the Day! :cool1:

Sue- how did Meet the Teacher go? :teacher:
Does you DD like her teacher?

Vicky- bummer that the Marathon Clinic was canceled. :sad1:
Ask for the refund!

AFM:took DD to the doctor yesterday with the 2-little guys in tow.
She is no longer able to drive. And the car would not start when we were ready to leave :headache:
Not so big of a problem when by yourself, but when concerned about
3-other people that cannot walk very far ... it is stressful!
Called a friend, for a ph number, but they came to give me
a jump start. Now need to get the car in to have the battery checked.

Margie, Yes, meet the teacher was good. DD is in Montessori so she will have the same teacher for the next 3 years.:thumbsup2

Vicky, Scotia is fast approaching.

Heading to the cottage for 1 last weekend of the year. :sad1:
Have a great weekend everyone. Enjoy the training..........Sue

Good Morning Team!

Just a quick post from here also, need to get dogs for a walk before I head down to Colorado to meet Scott at the bike shop - he is flying back from Texas this morning.

Mike - one batch of crab apple butter is tart, the second batch I made a bit sweeter, but I prefer the tarter one.

Liz - No, I am not great in the kitchen - that is why I have so much trouble with this kind of stuff.

Good luck to Kim and Dave for the race this weekend - good luck to anyone else racing!

AFM - we did get in 9.6 miles yesterday, I took the dogs to the bike path, at mile 4 where I was going to turn around, I was out of dog water, I knew that 1 mile farther on there would be water (and a bathroom), so we added the extra milage to the walk. The dogs really enjoyed swimming in the pond in the park where we turned around - after they got plenty of water and I filled up their water bottle. Kali had no problem with the distance.

Pixie dust for all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Happy Friday everyone! Anyone have big plans for the weekend? I'm "anxiously" awaiting the arrival of my aunt and uncle  Seriously, they're nice people but my parents need to have a better set up for house guests. I did talk to them about the bathroom usage so we'll see.

Lynn - Great job on the 9.6 miler! Do the dogs take a long time to dry off after swimming. Their coats must be very thick. Safe travels to you and Scott.

Sue - Yes! Scotia is next Sunday! Crazy! Have fun at your cottage this weekend! Just a few more months until you get to go back and reopen it :)

Margie - Sorry to hear about the car trouble but glad you were able to get it started. Maybe the battery just needs more water - it happened to me once and that's what I was told (but I'm definitely not a car expert). How old is your car? I'm definitely going to ask for a refund because I don't know my racing schedule for next year. It's too much work to move my training sessions and everything else around so I'll leave it as is.

Liz - I've only had to wake up for 4AM a couple of times before. I'm okay as long as I have a coffee before I have to deal with people  I do strength training twice a week - Mondays and Thursdays. I'll do core exercises, deadlifting, free weights, compound exercises and plyo and agility exercises.

Mike - I haven't tried Brooks before, only NB and Asics. I may experiment with a new brand the next time I replace my shoes to see what else is out there.

Kim/Dave - Good luck at USAF this weekend! Burn some pavement!

AFM - I went for my training session yesterday. I normally get there a few minutes early and walk on the TM to warm up. My chiro/trainer immediately asked me why I was limping. Probably not a good thing my ITB/knee issues are so obvious :( Anyway we went lighter on the leg exercises and mostly focused on upper body so we did curls, lunges and squats with a medicine ball and the dread chin ups. I think I'm almost at one by myself

I met up with some friends I haven't seen in years for dinner after the gym. We use to work together many (many) years ago. It was fun to see what everyone was doing. We met at 7PM, finished dinner and then moved on to a coffee shop. We didn't finish chatting until almost 12AM! And these were guys  I guess we had a lot of catching up to do!

I have a LR of 8 miles planned for tomorrow. I'm going to take the patella brace out and see how it holds up on a longer run. Will try for 4 miles on Sunday if everything goes well :)

Have a great weekend everyone! :wave2:

Good evening, everyone!

My DD9 and I are in a recreational race Sunday afternoon. We plan to run, stay for a few of the post-race festivities, and then have ice cream to celebrate. :thumbsup2

Wishing you all a great weekend with safe travels, fast races, and no injuries!

Elizabeth- We hope you & DD have fun in the race tomorrow!

Lynn- WTG on the impressive 9.6 miler!

Mike- WTG nice run

Regina- :hugs: how do you feel this morning.

Scott- Seen the picture of your new Trek Medone 6.9!!!!!
Kwel - it’s beautiful – love the paint. :goodvibes

Sue-Montessori School I have one within 1 1/2 miles.
What is your 'Best' reason for sending DD there?
Enjoy the weekend at the cottage!
Do you close it for the winter?

Vicky- :hugs: is your ITB / knee better this morning?
Hope your 8-miler is a good one!

:thanks: The car started okay yesterday when I tried it, but still a bit
apprehensive about taking the boys out, so going this
morning to have the battery checked. Not thinking batteries these
days need water?

AFM: Jeez- tired but cannot sleep after DD woke me at 2:30am!
Then it hit me the new furnace and water heater is scheduled for THIS Monday.
Okay do I have to clean the basement this weekend? :rolleyes1

Hi Team,

It's 230 am with a bit of rain outside. I slept most of yesterday away after a week of going every-which-way. I'm off of work tonight and couldn't sleep any more, so I'm catching up on email and such.
We have signed up for a few upcoming races over the next few months:

Mike- 9-26 Run for the Bear 5K -Algonquin IL (for pediatric brain cancer research)

Mike- 10-9 Prairie State Half Marathon-Libertyville IL

Mike- 10-23 Run for the Hills- Moraine Hills State park- Half Marathon

Mike & Liz- 11/14 Panting for Paws 5K- Crystal Lake IL (for local animal shelter-that we love!)

Mike- 11/25 Long Grove Turkey Trot 5K- Long Grove IL

Mike & Liz- 11/27 Schaumburg Half Marathon- Schaumburg IL (Liz's first Half!)

Liz wants to get up at 4am today and go for a five mile run before she has to go to work at seven. I'm all for it as I only got one run in last week!

Margie~ How old is your car,and the battery? Almost all car batteries are sealed now. Most likely the cable connection has become loose or corroded over time leading to a poor connection. Other problems could include the alternator not charging the battery and needing replacement, or old age of the battery. How long has the car sat idle? There is still a drain on the battery while the car is off from the alarm and various other electronics. If it's been a few weeks then it could be a combination of poor charging from a loose connection and the batteries age. Between old cars and old motorcycles, I have had plenty of experience with dead batteries!
Many thoughts and prayers for your DD.

Scott~ Happy for your new bike! :yay:

Sue~ Enjoy the cottage!

Vicky~ Good luck with the family visitors! Did you make your long run?

-Mike :cool2:

Mike, that is an impressive schedule WOW.

Dave and Kim, how did it go?

Weather looks better today, bike ride in order.

Gotta pack up again leave Monday.

Margie, the history snippets and quotes are great.

New furnace and water heater, prob save money as the new stuff is more efficient,

Good Morning Everyone!

We got our five miles in this morning and we were home by just after 530 am. Liz ran with a headlamp to light our way. Pace was 10:38 a mile. Now it's time for laundry and football on tv today!

Scott~ We are always busy! The races give me the motivation to keep training, and break the monotony of everyday life! I love it!

Go Patriots! -Mike :cool2:

I've got one more race to add to our list:

Mike- 11/6 Hot Choclate 15k - Grant Park, Chicago

Thanks, Mike :cool2:

Hi Fellow WISHers

Just wanting to point out there are two Headsweat orders going on right now.

One is for the "regular" Headsweats Hats and Visors
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2537249
--hoping to get minimum order numbers by end of October so I can place the order with the company and get them out before WDW January Marathon Weekend.

The next order going on is for a special order Headsweats White and Lime Green Visor. The minimum for an order is 100, so if you are interested please go take a look...
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2508052

Thanks and have a good day!!

Hi Team,

Tracy- Thank you for the information on the visors!

Margie- Did you get the swing set up? The girls program is going great. The girls are so much fun. I’m still trying to learn all their names but I think I have the majority of them down so hopefully I can remember the rest this week. Did you decide to clean the basement? Was DD in pain at 2:30am?

Lynn- Thanks for the PD! Way to go on your 9.5 mile walk!!! I’m glad the dogs had a great time. Did you make your grape jelly? What did you decide on the pectin/no pectin?

Vicky- How goes it with the family visiting? I could go to the gym and lift weights for cross training, but having a stuffy or runny nose and being tired, I just didn’t feel like going for any cross training. I should be able to do weights and hopefully get back into running this next week. I know I shouldn’t worry, but I worry I will lose all the work I’ve spent the last 7 months on being that I haven’t run in like 2 weeks. We’ll see how it goes this week! Did you get a refund for your marathon clinic being cancelled? Way to go on the chin ups! I’m sorry to hear you’re having such bad ITB/knee issues. It’s always nice to catch up with friends. Glad it went well.

Sue- Thanks for the PD! Enjoy your last weekend at the cottage! Why does DD have the same teacher for 3 years? How does that work?

Mike- We are doing MNSSHP on Fri 10/8. I definitely plan to see the shows and the fireworks! I have been following the MNSSHP thread in the theme park forum and I’m thinking I probably want a MNSSHP shirt too while I’m there. When is the Hot Chocolate 15K? It sounds like fun!

Liz- Thanks! No kidding- my poor lips have been chapped all week because I couldn’t breathe through my nose. So annoying! Are you going to be biking to work every morning to start at 4am? What other training are you doing that you will be adding your strength training?

Elizabeth- How was the recreational race with DD? Ice cream sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate!

Scott- Glad you like the new bike. You’re always headed somewhere!

Dave/Kim- How did your race go?! Look forward to hearing about it.

AFM, I still have my cold but it seems to be on its way out so that is great. I can finally breathe out of my nose again! YAY!!! Less than 2 weeks until we leave for vacation!!! I am hoping to get back into running this week, so we’ll see how it goes. Yesterday we creamed and froze 3 more dozen ears of sweet corn and made strawberry freezer jam. Oh, I guess I forgot to mention that I did get my WISH shirt....the color is fine but it is so short! I am not impressed with that. Not sure how much I'll wear it because it's so short?!?! I'll give it a try and see how I like it. Next time, maybe I'll just have to order from the men's shirts I guess. Nothing too exciting going on today. Hope everyone’s enjoying their weekend!

Good Afternoon, Team! :wave2:

Currently 67° / 68% humidity
Partly Cloudy / High of 67°
Searching the Peak Color Tour locations, as I think we will be
earlier than our usual Mid October.

Tracy that's so much for posting on our Team Thread the Threads for the Sweatbands orders.
We do appreciate you!

Connie-should be breaking camp and starting home today!
Safe Travels!

Dave-eager to hear your race report and WISH Meet update!

Elizabeth-eager to hear your race report!

Kim-eager to hear your race report and WISH Meet update!

Liz-WTG nice early morning run!

Lynn- WTG on the 9.6 miler!

Mike-WTG nice early morning run!
Will get the Team Race Calendar updated-very impressive Race Schedule!
Very thankful it was just the car battery :upsidedow

Regina- :hugs: glad to hear your cold is better today.
You will not lose your fitness-it would be worse to train when your body is
not well and or injured! I had problems training last year because of DD-
did one 4-miler prior to a very hilly half. I did okay and maintained my 15-mpm pace.

WTG with the canning and freezing...Impressive!

I got my little Hagen a women's XS-I wonder about sizing of those shirts.
Basement-still needs help but what's done is done-
Swing set is not completed-we have had rain-rain-and more rain.

Scott- I would so like to see your new Trek...even touch it :cool1:

:thanks: I sure hope the new furnace and water heater helps save money.
Now need to look at a better-bigger clothes dryer. With more people
soon to be in the house the one I have is not very efficient. :headache:

Vicky- :hugs: do hope the bathroom is not a problem-
and will be thinking of you in the morning.

AFM: My car is a 2002 Impala...runs and looks great,
if you over look the a few stone chips and a couple of kid's toy
run-in scratches.
(Any Ideas: looking for a way to do a self fix on them too)

New car battery installed yesterday-I even got a credit as the
old one did not last as long as it should have. Oh, so thankful
it was a cheaper fix. You know these cars have sophisticated warning systems-silly I know, but I thought they were to WARN us of potential problems before they happen.

Fire Drill at Church this morning-My little Hagen kept asking where
the danger was? :rolleyes1

Hey gang made it back in 1 piece. Not happy with my time at all but the heat really kicked my butt. There was this nasty, nasty on ramp hill at mile 8 that just did me in. Managed to finish under 3:30, actually about 3:26 I think.

Didn't see Dave at the race but did see him and meet Sally very, very briefly Friday, was so tired, being up at 1AM and driving about 8 hours I was exhausted. Did manage to meet up at the Museum Sat afternoon which was great cause we didn't manage to get anything planned. Got a chance to get to know Sally a little and she is just a sweetie you guys will love her. Our Panda looks like a very happy man:hug:

There where a few things I loved the few....very few flyovers where cool, bling was awesome and tech shirt I loved. However more things I didn't like. Race started to late for me, not alot of course support, very limited port a potties at the race start...the race started and many where still in extremely long line ups. Did manage to thank all the solders on the course for what they do to make our world a safer place. Although I am a Canadian we are all on the same team and I appreciate it all very much.

OK off to chill for a bit, totally exhausted.

Vicky you and I next. Friday expo and carbo load and Sunday race...at least this one starts at 7:30 AM;)

Have a great sunday night all.

Elizabeth- How was the recreational race with DD? Ice cream sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate!

Elizabeth-eager to hear your race report!

The race was wonderful! What a great way to spend the day with my daughter; her confidence after that race almost made me forget just how darned hot it was this afternoon. ;) I usually run at 5 AM so the heat was something that I wasn't prepared for.

The race benefited motor neuron disease research. It was created by a woman, now in her 40s, who was an avid runner. Now she is confined to a wheelchair, barely able to speak. However, she was at the finish line encouraging everyone to finish. I really needed that gut check to remind me to get up and get out on those days when I feel like my training is a chore.

My next race is a 5k this coming Saturday. It will be in the AM, so the weather should be more to my liking. :thumbsup2

Regina: Glad you are feeling better.

Margie: Glad to hear the car is back up and running!

Have a great week, everyone!

I'm home.

I had a wonderful time at the USAF half marathon. But the expo was a why bother and the traffic around the expo and packet pickup place was horrid. Recommend if your gonna do it arrive early in the day get your packet and get the heck out of there before rush hour.

I finished and I'm not sore or limping. I was afraid the PF monster would bite me but it never did and I finished tired but uninjured. The course is great and it's very flat with only 3 easy hills. I'll probably do it again next year. The Air Force museum is worth the trip all by it's self.

I had a chance to see a movie and talk a bit with Kim and Mike after the race. It wasn't enough time with those wonderful people but I'll make up for it in January.

Dave:hippie:

3 easy hills??? Where we at the same race:lmao: OK, first one not bad, one at mile 8 just about killed me and 3rd one was not long after the one at mile 8.....geee who does that. Actually it was on the way down from the 3rd hill that my hip and foot started to bother me, it was one of the famous disney slant ramps.....hate those!!!
