Good Morning Team!

Margie - I love your daily sayings - you must spend some time on the computer to come up with them. No, the dogs do not go on bike rides, never trained them to run along side a bike, and not get leashes tangled.:lmao:

Kim - you must be getting some nice fall colors - our trees are starting to turn, but we have has no frost yet - so mostly still green, or have just gone straight to brown.

Mike - new shoes!!! Great!

 to everyone else.

Scott left for the airport late (8am) this morning, so we had breakfast together - French Toast, then I took dogs for a short walk. I have riden the bike to the mailbox twice so far this morning - once to pick up the newspaper, an once to get out some letters. Today the big chore is to cook down the crabapple butter. We got 16 lbs of crab apples this year, I am having to make the butter in 2 batches, got the first batch cut up, cooked and thru the Squeezo Strainer on Sunday, did not get around to cooking it down yesterday, so today I need to do that. Then the second batch needs to be cleaned, cut, cooked, strained, then cooked down. Sounds like a full days work to me! I am hoping to fit in a bike ride today also.

Have a great day all!

Thanks Margie, it will be a great weekend. Good luck getting that swing set done.

Lynn: Sounds like alot of work. Yes, our colours have started to turn, actually quite early this year. They do say we won't get the awesome colours we had last year but still love seeing the change of colours

Good Morning Team!

I must be early this morning, not many posts to catch up on! Never did get much more exercise in yesterday, after a quick trip to the library to return some overdue audio books, and getting some more for my week of cleaning (Scott's parents are visiting in a week and a half), I started working on the crab apple butter. I finished up at 8:30 pm - no bike ride, break only for dinner. I have not yet gotten out for todays walk. On Friday Scott and I are meeting in Colorado at the bike shop - his new bike is in and he is helping put it together, my bike will get it's 60 day check-up.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Kim-we are getting a bit of color all ready too.

Then we have a hard rain and it’s gone!

Lynn-WTG on the bike rides
After the first Oh No-I love it when company comes it forces me to clean!

:thanks: I usually spend 5-10 minutes.
I do not take the time to post on other threads-

I am using the monthly quote in my journal-

Hi everyone!

Margie - I try to journal everyday. I find it helps me to clear my mind. Sometimes I have a lot to write down and then some days, just a few sentences. I like your quote for today - food for thought! How goes the work on the swing set?

Sue - I went down to the RR yesterday to pick up a patella tendon brace. It's kind of like an ITB brace but it sits at the bottom of your knee. Did you know there was a 15% off coupon at the back of their magazine - the free one that's all over their store. The guy helping me out was nice enough to point it out AFTER I had bought the brace. He seemed really happy about it too. I mean it would have been only a few dollars saved but I would have prefered he said nothing  I didn't see the Canada jackets there but was going through the store really quickly.

Lynn - I was thinking of an actual crab when I read your post above! We have a ton of crab apple trees here - they make the sidewalks a little messy because the fruit gets smushed from everyone walking on it. But 16 lbs is quite a bit - collecting and hauling those bags around is a workout in itself!

Kim - Did you decide whether to leave on Thursday or Friday?

Scott - Safe travels!!

Mike - Yay for new shoes! Which kind did you get? Great pacing on your 10 miler!!

Elizabeth - How's your back doing? If you're still feeling pain, make sure you go and see someone about it. Maybe a chiro or your doctor. Even a physio can help too.

Regina - :wave2:

AFM - I haven't done any running since Sunday. I was in the gym on Monday for my usual training. I did mention my sore knee/ITB to my physio so he did a quick treatment on it after we did our training. He did suggest that I take it easy on the miles this week and that I get a patella tendon brace. So if I'm going out with the running group tonight, I'll probably go with the 5K group again  I wanted to run with the 1/2 group but they're doing 9x hills so I can't imagine that will do me any good.

I've got my aunt and uncle visiting next week. I didn't realize they were staying with us though. I love my relatives but not when they stay with us. Sharing the bathroom gets complicated first thing in the morning. I never understand why people on vacation who stay with us have to get up before 8AM. You're on vacation! Sleep in!!

Have a great day everyone :wave2:

Hi, everyone,

Thanks for the advice and well wishes. I'm happy to say that my back is feeling better each day. I'm not sure if the rest, damp heat, ice, or massage from DH worked the best. Perhaps it was the fact that I tried everything!

I haven't been running since Saturday; hope to get out there tomorrow morning.

Elizabeth

Hi y'all.

This is my tired day. I got off at 9pm drove the 2+ hrs home, got 5 hrs sleep and met my walkers for a good 5 miler and then worked. Now it's laundry and then relaxing for a little bit before an early bed time. Tomorrow I pick Sally up at 8am and we will adventure for a while.

I'm leaving early friday morning for Ohio and the USAF half. I'm not really ready for it but the rest before will help a lot.

Margie we haven't set a date yet.

Dave:hippie:

Sorry team, I haven't been around. It's been crazy.

Dad isn't doing well. Having a hard time adjusting. Hopefully he gets the hep he needs to adjust and move on. It's been really to hear about how bad it's been for him. I just want to protect him and find a way to get him to where he needs to be so he can get through the halfway house stuff and get a place of his own.

But I did get a new job. I'll be transferring to the bakery as an assistant manager. So I'll be in a larger department with more people under me. I can't wait to get started with that!

Connie~ how'd it go with the swing set? i miss getting my son to nap. now i try to sneak one in on my day off while he's in pre-school.

Lynn~ i've never heard of crabapple butter. sounds good but a lot of work. how much do you get from 16# of apples?

Vicky~ it's just under 6 miles one way. i met a guy this morningwho was also commuting on his bike but his ride was 14 miles one way.

Dave~ may i suggest a fall wedding. the weather is usually dry and cooler temps make those tuxes a little more bearable.

AFM~ did a short 30 min run and averaged a 10:30. That's pretty good for me. Swam 1500m yesterday. Spin class and more swimming tomorrow. Then my son and I are making cupcakes:cool1:

Hi Team!

Emily- Great race report! I’m glad it went well.

Elizabeth- I’m glad your back is feeling better.

Lynn- We’ll see how excited our dog is to see us when we go pick her up from the kennel. How’d the crab apple butter turn out?

Vicky- How has it been going getting up earlier? How are you feeling about the 2:00 half goal? I don’t understand how they can get up before 8am if they’re vacationing either…

Liz- Happy Belated birthday!!!! I’m glad you had a great day! Cupcakes sound delicious and fun!

Kim- Congrats on signing up for the full!

Dave- You have been a busy panda!!

Mike- Way to go on yet another personal record!

Hope- Congrats on the job! I hope your dad is able to adjust better.

AFM, I have done zero…yup that’s right zero training this week. I have been sick with a cold all week and it’s driving me nuts! It needs to go away so I can get some more training in and finally breathe out of my nose again.
On a happier note, we bought our MNSSHP tickets and pre-ordered photopass! Yay!

Connie- :thanks: for the call this afternoon!
We miss you! 2-plus weeks is a long time without telephone
and Internet.

Update: Jon & Connie went into town (Bayfield Colorado-
near Durango) this afternoon and had cell service, so I was
blessed with a call!

Both Jon & Connie sounded good. They are having a
good time, after getting through the 24-hours of rain
they have had great camping weather; wonderful 5-course meals;
elk sighted, shot at, missed, but looking forward to
the next opportunity!

They plan to stay until this coming Sunday.
So we will hear from her again sometime next week.

Dave-No Date Yet (?)
Are you & Sally planning on the Big Event before closing
on your new home, so you can carry your Bride across the threshold?
Safe Travels for you & Sally tomorrow!

Elizabeth- glad your back is doing better!

Emily-how are you doing?

Hope-Congratulations on the promotion!
Sorry to hear your Dad is having a difficult time-sometimes changes
And added responsibilities are hard to adjust to.

Kim-Excited for you - Safe Travels!

Liz-WTG nice run, spin class, and a swim!
Nice Training Schedule.
Have fun making cupcakes with Robert!
Do you let him help measure, use the mixer, etc?
My little guys are much younger than Robert,
so I put the batter into a spouted measuring cup
so they can pour the batter.

Lynn- apples taken care of?
You & Connie are our Team’s Prairie Farmers!
Might have to add Regina as I heard she too is freezing
corn and making Jelly.

Mike- WTG nice run

Regina- We have missed you!
Oh My Gosh-take care of yourself!
Summer colds are serious business!
I so understand. I went through 3-weeks of zero training
and now struggling with time & motivation.

On a happier note, we bought our MNSSHP tickets and pre-ordered photopass! Yay!

Scott- One more sleep!

Sue-

Vicky- sorry to hear you are not any better.
Nice you were able to get a treatment. Not familar with
the patella brace.
How did the running go last night?
One bathroom – put a sign on the door for assignment times

AFM:when Brady arrives Need to go pick up DD and my little Hagen.
DD had doctor's appointment and she is no longer able to drive.

Rain & schedule had put the swing set is on hold until the weekend. :rolleyes1

Good Morning Team!

Vicky – we have a Dolgo Crabapple tree in our yard, we planted it to help pollinate the apple trees – so far, we have not had apples, but the one crab apple tree is doing well. The crab apples are larger than the crab apples on the ornamental trees you generally see around – average size is 1.5 inches. I put up 21 12oz jars of crab apple butter – last year I only got about 20 oz all together – so quite a bit more this year! Good luck with the Aunt and Uncle – maybe you can get them to sleep late so you can get ready for work!

Elizabeth – Pixie dust for your back – you should take it easy after a long race anyway, especially a first one.

Dave – Good luck on your race!!!

Hope – Pixie dust to you and your father to help him adjust – congrats on the new job!

Liz – crab apple butter is basically the same as apple butter – I do that with the fruit because it takes less sugar than jam or jelly, and you can make it with any amount of fruit.

Regina – Pixie dust to you for that cold!!!

Margie – Thanks again for the update on Connie. I am not the farmer Connie is, we just have a few fruit trees (4 apple, 2 plum, 2 cherry, 1 crab apple, some raspberry plants and some grape vines). I do not have a vegetable garden to deal with.

AFM – today I have an 8 mile walk scheduled, I am planning to load up the dogs and drive to the bike path for a change – that means that Kali will have to walk 8 miles, but I think she will do fine in a different setting. She walks fine, she just doesn’t want to do it. After running some errands, I will harvest the grapes, then work on grape jelly. I have never had grapes before, so I have no idea how much jelly I will get, or how good it will be. I just need to decide if I want to make it with or without pectin.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Hi team! It's a cool and rainy Thursday here. Apparently, I didn't get the memo because I've worn my capris to work. Brr!!! Looks like I'll be chugging tea and coffee all day today  Actually, I've just been lazy and haven't had time to take my new pants to the tailor get hemmed.

Margie - My PT gave me a quick treatment which was a little bit of ART. It feels better now and I've been using the foam roller on my ITB but I'm afraid to push the mileage. I think I'm just being overly sensitive and there isn't much of a problem. Is everything okay with Sara? Here's a little bit of pixiedust: for her doctor's appointment.

The last time my mom had a friend stay over. I put a huge sign on the door of my bathroom that said "Please do not use between 9-10AM". I actually put another one on the mirror in the bathroom. I had a hair appointment that day that I had made months ago and didn't want to be late for. Well, you can probably guess what happened. She claimed she forgot her glasses and couldn't see anything. But you think she would have at least asked someone what the signs said.

Regina - When I did the 30K a few weeks ago, I did the half marathon distance of that race in 2:10:12. So I'm thinking the half will probably be more like 2:07 but I'll be happy with any time under 2:10 :) Don't worry about not running - think of it as saving energy for the race! Plus you want to make sure you're 100% on race day :) Do you have some weights at home, you could try lifting as cross training.

Liz - How did the cupcakes turn out? What flavor(s) did you end up making? I think 6 miles is the perfect distance to bike to work - not too long but enough for a good workout! WTG on your 30 minute run! Fantastic pace!

Hope - Congrats on your promotion! Do you get to do any sampling for quality control :) I'm kidding! Sorry to hear about your dad. Transitions and big changes are always tough. Are you the only family he's got right now?

Dave - Safe travels and good luck at USAF! Say hi to Sally from all of us

Lynn - Wow! Those sound like big crab apples. I didn't realize there were different varities. Everyone here treats them like they're a nusiance. The grape jelly sounds yummy too! Gosh I wish I had the space for a fruit and veggie garden. Good luck on your 8 miler today!

AFM - I went out for run with the Running Room group last night. Did 3 miles with 10/1 intervals. I forced myself to go slowly for the first half to see how my knee would hold up. It was pain free with the band, though the velcro from the band was itchy.

I got an email saying the marathon clinic I signed up for has been cancelled :( They suggested a different store which has a clinic for Disney on Thursday nights. But that store is a lot farther from my house and doesn't have parking. I could go over right from work but don't really feel like going home in soggy running clothes especially in winter. Plus I'd have to switch my training session around which is pretty difficult because my physio has shortened his hours. I'm thinking I might just ask for a refund seeing how I know I'm capable of 18-19 miles on my own. The longest distance on Higdon's plan is 20 so I should be good for that.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good Afternoon Team!

Vicky, What a drag that the clinic was cancelled. Didn't know about the RRoom coupon and of course nothing was mentioned in store. We get the magazine at home but the latest issue has not arrived.
You're working. You superceed everyone else trying to use the bathroom.;)

Kim, We are on SW on the Thurs. Have never flown JB but here good things about them.

Regina, Pd for your cold. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Hope, Congrats on your great job promotion.:thumbsup2

Kim/ Dave, Have a great race weekend!

Margie, to you also.

It's meet the teacher night. Only dog walking on the exercise agenda.
Have a great evening everyone.........Sue

Hi Team!

Just a quick post today. It's been a busy week with no training since my 10 miles on Monday. No day off from work until Sat. night. Ugh! I got my W.I.S.H. team shirts in the mail yesterday and will be wearing them on Wine and Dine weekend! I can't wait! :cloud9: Liz and Robert's cupcakes turned out great...but now I really need to get a run in tomorrow! Chocolate with chocolate frosting!

Vicky~ my new shoes are Brooks Adreneline's, same as my old pair. I love Brooks shoes.

Regina~ what night are you going to Mickey's NSSHP? It is really alot of fun, take time to see the shows and the fireworks are great!

Dave~ I'm craving pizza and beer, what to do?

Lynn~ the crab apple butter sounds tasty, is it sweet or tart?

Hope~ Congratulations on the job change! A new department can be fun, and a challenge. I hope that things smooth out for your Dad.

Off to bed, work tonight! -Mike :cool2:

Lynn~ Sounds delicious!! You must be very good in the kitchen. I can cook anything that comes from a box:rolleyes1

Margie~ I measure everything but I let Robert pour it in. he's really good at cracking eggs too, no shell pieces. I let him stir but I do the mixer part. They turned out great!!

Regina~ Hope you feel better soon:sick: It's amazing how we take breathing out of nose for granted sometimes:laughing:

AFM~ Just found out I'm working mostly 4am shifts next week. good thing I just charged up the batteries for my bike lights. 90 minute ride on the sched for friday. Any ideas/opinions on how often I should be strength traing?
