Hakuna Matata - Dashing Through December

Hi team!

Elizabeth - Sounds like you're good to go for January! I can't wait for it either! I hope you're able to catch some down time and relax during the holidays!

Dave - WTG on you pain-free 9.5 miler! I have no doubt that you will rock the full in January :) As for group stuff - we have the Kona breakfast on Friday morning and the dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe on Sunday night. There's a WISH meet at Pop Century on Friday afternoon and then another one at the Boardwalk Bakery on Monday morning.

AFM - Some good news! The WISH team got into the DC Nike Women's Half Marathon. It's the inaugral race so I'm excited! Plus DC is pretty awesome! I happened to be on the train yesterday when I was reading FB and saw that other people were posting they got in. I checked my email and sure enough, my confirmation was there. I think I must have said "YES!!" out loud when I saw it because a few people turned to look at me. The bad news is that my friend who lives in DC got booked to speak at a conference that weekend so I'm going to have to figure that part out. But I'm not too worried about it.

Got out for a 3 miler last night and it was a pretty awesome run! I nailed the hills - both uphill and downhill and just generally felt really good. Uphills in general are hard for me and downhills are hard on my knees. No aches or pains, nothing wrong with my foot, knee or ankle. LOL Managed to finish in just over 28 minutes. I've got a 13 miler on the weekend and that's about it. A nice and easy cutback week :)

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - Good luck with the new shoes and the lacing.

Elizabeth - Hi!

Dave - You have always been optimistic, and I am sure you will have no problem finishing the marathon when the time comes!

AFM - Spent most of the day yesterday running errands, plan to stay home today and catch up on stuff like laundry, watering trees (a 2-3 hr job), Christmas cards, and exercise!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

so just a quick note to let y'all know I have a change in plans. my dh can no longer come bc of a new job (very sad for me) so my parents are now joining DS and I for the trip. they will be at teh finish line. not going to tell DS so it will be a fun surprise - not sure now if going to be able to come for sunday dinner but still want to meet up and run together for the marathon!

Thanks! My bib is 5800-love having an even number! Does this mean I'm in corral B? Someone said each corral has 3000.

My Goofy Bib is #25275. I have no idea where that will place me corral-wise in the Half and Full races. Anyone know how it works for Goofy?

Like to know too. I am 20747 and my brother in law is 20493. He would have submitted a better proof of time than me, so just based on that, I am assuming the lower your number, the closer you are to the front. Could be totally wrong on that though.

Question: the are no corrals for the 5K, right? So the bib number is meaningless, right?

BTW, my bone scan is Monday so I will know Tuesday if I am cleared to run!

Yes, the lower the range of numbers, the better the corral placement. Too early to tell what the corral ranges are yet.

And yes, the 5K is a fun run so no formal corrals but they do have three 'groupings' based upon expected pace (but they are not enforced).

Will be praying on Monday! :)

5K 7711
Half 45968

I did a 3.7 mile run on the treadmill-o-doom in the Kinvara 3's tonight. So far so good with these shoes. I'll be in them for the 5K and my Brooks Adrenaline or the Brooks Trance for the Half, I'll have to see what pair is in better shape by race time.

I've been keeping with a 4 minute / 90 second Run / Walk combo and it seems to work out very well for me.

I have a 10 mile run to fit in sometime this weekend. I've got some family and friend commitments this weekend that I've got to juggle it around with :) And I also want to get out and see The Hobbit :)

Good Morning Team!

Robbie - Good luck on the bone scan!

AFM - Still no formal exercise, but did get a bit of walking in with tree watering (have 2 hoses set up, one in front yard and one in back, so put water on 1 tree in front, walk to back, move that hose to next tree then back to the front to move hose).

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Bib 10854 for Mickey 20 here!

About to head out to the "holiday show" we go to every year with the kids. Mainly lots of noise. I'll catch up later, but just updating that I'm NOT doing the Newport Half (it's in RI) because they changed the date. I've heard all kinds of reasons, but likely it's because people whined about them moving it. At any rate, they are refunding my money as I can't do it now (no way to get between Hartford and Newport - they're the same weekend now - and no desire to do back to backs - hence why I'll never do Goofy), but I'm really disappointed that they would change the date after registration opened.

:cheer2: Weekend Racers :cheer2:

Good luck to Rick this weekend! I think he's the only one with a race this month :) Here's hoping for clear skies and nice weather!

December

Dude! You are in Corral "C"!!! Congrats on moving up big time!

Happy Friday everyone! Anyone have plans for the weekend?

Kimberly - Have a great race tomorrow! The 5K sounds like fun! I haven't seen many Christmas lights in my neighborhood this year.

Beth - Strange that they changed the date but I'm glad that they refunded your race entry fee. Have lots of fun at the holiday show with the kids!

Lynn - Do you have to do anything to prepare the trees for the winter season? I sometimes think that gardening and household chores can be a better workout than going to the gym. I definitely feel like I spend more time on chores than I do at the gym LOL

Kipp - Good job on TM miles! Make sure you get in that 10 miler this weekend! LOL

Robbie - Sending lots of pixiedust: your way for good results on Monday!

AFM - I did a 3 miler yesterday. I went a bit slower because I don't like pushing for speed on every run. It was a good run as the weather was mild.

My bib number is 24419 for January. I can make a list on the first page. If you don't want your bib listed, let me know.

This weekend is a bit busy for me - I have a 13 miler tomorrow, followed by a massage and then a hair appointment in the afternoon and then a holiday dinner in the evening. It should be fun! Then on Sunday a friend and I are driving out to the Cheesecake Factory LOL

I'm down 2lbs this week! Woo-hoo! Not sure if that will last after all the eating this weekend but it means I only need to get rid of another 3 lbs by the end of the year to meet my goal! Yay!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks! You and I are in the same Corral for the Full! WooHoo!!

We're back! It was chaos as usual - but at least the school (we have 7 sites) is split into two sessions so it's not insane.

Rick and Kimberly ~ Good luck!!!

Rick ~ Where did you find the official corral announcement? I've only seen guesstimates based on history.

Robbie ~ Sending good thoughts for the bone scan!!

Lynn ~ I agree!! Chores and household things are often a huge workout!!

Feel free to list my number. No issues. :)

I didn't get a chance to post my morning adventure earlier. I was walking from the subway and about a block from school saw two kids in a gated driveway (most of them around here are - though it's little more than a parking space) and talking to a woman in the doorway about if the skin was broken and one of the kids was bleeding. Then I looked up and saw a Pit running loose on the street heading towards me. At that point I noticed two teachers from the school we share the building with in the next gated driveway. One of them opened her gate a little and said "Get in here! He bites!" Yep...the dog was not just wandering but on a rampage. Apparently he was hit by a van but jumped up and started running around terrorizing anyone on the street. One of the teachers was on the phone with the police. One of the kids was flipping out about his bookbag being outside of the fence and the other teacher was all "Leave it! It's a BAG." Then the dog crossed the street and started towards a group of kids and an adult. Thankfully one of those gates was unlocked and they got in. About that time, one of the security guys from the school came up the street and said he would cover us while we moved to the school. I think the kids and one of the other teachers either stayed there or moved to the bodega as I saw an ambulance at the corner while we were doing bussing. He wasn't bitten badly, but the skin was punctured, so I'm sure they were checking him out thoroughly. Definitely scary times!!

edited to add: BUT it was tiny in comparison to the shooting in Connecticut. :( My heart is breaking for all those children and teachers and the families affected by the senseless shooting.

Beth: the Corral placement documents are on the RunDisney site under Runner Info for Marathon Weekend

Yeah, when I submitted my time, I was figuring on being in much better shape. So far, I'm feeling much better than when I went into the Monumental Half!

Maybe with this placement, I won't get stuck behind all the walkers when we exit Magic Kingdom this time :)

Now I just wish I could get my Garmin to just do my 4:00/1:30 interval until I tell it not to! [do until]...[stop button] LOL

There is a way to do that. I know Vicky has a Garmin and uses intervals. Perhaps she can tell you how to set that up.
