Hakuna Matata: Dash away, dash away, dash away All!

Good Morning Team!

Sound like everyone had a great Christmas & I as well.

Run on Sat. got rained out & rode the bike at the gym instead.

Spent Sat. night in Niagara Falls. We upgraded to a Fallsview room so we could see the Festival of Lights/ Falls etc.. The weather was so foggy/ misty we literally couldn't see out the window. There were fireworks over the falls. We could hear them just couldn't see them. :lmao:
Sun. morning I ran from the hotel to my inlaws (12 miler) along the Niagara River. Nice change of scenery.:thumbsup2

Margie, We are flying out of Buffalo & will have already cleared customs at the border. I'm only semi-worried about carryon restrictions.

The temps. are on quite a rollercoaster. Very cold again today.

Have a great day. 6 more training runs for me. Now I just want to get this over with............Sue

Good Morning everyone! :goodvibes

Brrrrr Cold here today -2 w/ wind chill off the water.

Indoor mileage is continuing. 5.2 in 45 min

Snow is all gone :thumbsup2 had our white Christmas, the the rains came

and washed it away.

Have my bag packed, 'cept for my running stuff. getting excited, a year in the planning :cool1:

A Big :thanks: to everyone I'm happy to have been a part of such a supportive bunch of good people.

Well time to crack the box and see whats happening! :surfweb:
Stay Warm!

Good morning, Hakuna Matata!

Jeeze, I just about had this post finished when "poof" it was gone!

Sue - That sounds like a trip I would take. Upgrade and see nothing!

Margie - Yea, carry on could be a problem. I am checking at least one bag.
Fortunately, we are flying out of a small airport, so hopefully it won't be such a big deal! We thought of seeing SIL in Dallas, but that would be a nightmare getting back through security!

Jack - Can't wait to meet you and watch you run off leaving many of us in the dust.

We had one road open on the 26th so we were able to get out and go to my DD's house. The other roads leading out of town just opened yesterday and we are expecting more snow today.

I am not trained as well as I had hoped. I will just be gutting the marathon out. But I have the guts for it! :rotfl: Can't wait to see everyone!

Good Morning Team:

I have miles to deliver to Connie and I will do so before the end of the year as I think we’re done for the year on the 31st. It’s been a beast at home with issues related to Mark’s business. Nothing too bad but still stressful. Mark and I have now put all that behind us and will get back to the task at hand, eating healthy, exercise and feeling better.

I did 3 miles on the TM when I got back from WDW but had a nasty sinus thing that went to my chest so it sure did put a cramp in my working out. Too much coughing.

Today I got up at 4:45 and did 2 miles on the TM. Our high temp was reached this morning and will only go down with a wind chill in the single digits. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. So for me the new year has already begun.

A couple of years ago, there was a thread in which we would commit to so many minutes or hours of working out. Sort of a monthly goal. It was an easy way to keep track and make sure we did just a little something each day. I may strive for that next year rather than miles.

I keep thinking of all of you heading down next week, and hope you do well and enjoy the process. It’s a wonderful race and I'd like to do it again some day.

Happy New Year to all of you. I will check in on this thread to see how you do and will certainly continue to post now and then on the regular event board.

Hi everyone! Back at work today but it is like a ghost town here!

Margie - Yes, there are new restrictions in place. Basically we cannot take any carry-on bags except for a few items like a purse, coat, medication, laptop, cameras etc. There was no clarification as to whether we could bring a bag for the laptop or camera and what we could bring in our purses (ie. wallet, cell phone). My favourite allowed item was "containers carrying life sustaining items". Well, the weather here is -16C (3.2F) so IMO a bag of clothes should count count :rotfl: :confused3

The thing is - Canadian flights pre-clear US customs so that when we arrive in the US, we're considered a domestic flight. So I don't understand why we're lumped together with international flights. I usually bring all my running gear in my carry-on so maybe I'll just dress in layers and wear it through security.

Sue - Your 12 miler sounds scenic! Have you done the Niagara Falls marathon before? I'm still waffling on ATB - not really looking forward to winter running.

Hi all,

5.5 miles in 48 minutes (about an 8:45 pace) all on hills and into a head wind. I'll take rain but please no wind on marathon day.

Jack, What are speed are you thinking? I'm going for a 3:40 BQ and plan on running with the pace group (hopefully picking it up for the last 5k or so), but would love some WISH company.

Margie, I'm with you on airport arrivals. We're also about 2 hours, but since it's a small airport are only aiming to get there an hour and a half early.

Best,
Jennifer

On the first day off, so far I have washed dishes, vacuumed, picked up some Christmas stuff, made breakfast, worked on an appeal for one of my new guys challenging his training record, few work emails taken care of, birds fed, dogs fed, and Lynn out the door. Good morning lots of stuff done, back from the bank, shopping etc….weather is to be a balmy upper 30’s today so after lunch a run will be in order, Garmin is charging. Have a great one kids. I better get busy...

Pups like the Bank Drive Up, they get treats and the tellers oggle all over them... they are totally spoiled.

Went out for a 6 miler 36 degrees and the no wind, felt really good to be outside...

Scott you have the most perfect life. I wanna be like Scott when I grow up.

Margie told me to bump this thread. :littleangel:But she doesn't like it when we just to say "bump" so.......:upsidedow

Good Evening! :wave2::wave2::wave2::wave2::wave2::wave2::wave2:

Well in the spirit of bump-ness..

I'll vent about my new pre-marathon anxiety.
I'm not going down until Saturday. Flight is schedule to arrive in Orlando before noon (11:45 am). Here's my new panic... what if the flight is delayed and I can't get my packet. Theoretically it shouldn't be any problem to get to the expo, but I'm starting to panic about what if something happens along the way.

This is kind of a worst case scenario type of thing, but any teammate suggestions to soothe some marathon madness.

Do you know anyone who can pick your packet up? They would need your DL photo, waiver and permission slip (I haven't used that phrase since my kids were in school ...years and years and years ago :lmao:)

Anyway, you could overnight those things to them, so that you can be sure they recieve them in plenty of time and then the designated person could handle that for you.

Bumping again! :rotfl:

Connie, thanks. My ex-boyfriend is in Daytona, and I'm thinking I may send him a copy of everything so that in the event of unavoidable circumstances, he could go get it and then meet me with it. I also have an acquaintance from college in Orlando, again in the event of unforseeable circumstances I could ask her to. I think this is just pre-race anxiety. I have about 3 hours of wiggle room, which should be plenty (the actual flight is less than two hours so as long as it left by the time it was supposed to arrive, I'll be fine).

Good morning y'all. It's time to be getting into road warrior mode folks. Time to start thinking the good thoughts. Like Richard Pryor in Stir Crazy, "Yeah we bad".

Time to get your Grrrrrr going and start believing you are going the distance, stop the second guessing yourself and KNOW you will be enough.

I'm off for an 8 mile training walk. The temp is 32, still to cold for me but better than it has been.

Good Morning, TEAM! :wave2:

Thanks – :lovestruc

Jack- Good Morning ::yes::

Connie- you really gave me a start last night when you said we only have a few more sleeps before we leave! We have waited and looked forward to this all year and now it is happening so fast!

Jennifer– my flight was delayed about three hours last year. We had snow, deicing, and extra security checks due to the Presidential Inaugural Ceremony. I know you will not have any of those happenings, but it is best to be safe rather than sorry. :upsidedow

Dave- Road Warrior … seriously I feel like the Cowardly Lion at the moment! :sad1:

Vicky- hope you have smooth going through security checks with all those layers! :rolleyes1

Sue- :confused3 but the imagination can be in vivid color!

Denise- :wave2: we will miss you guys!

Safe Travels and looking forward to seeing you all in a few days!

Morning Kids, it’s a chilly 23 with winds (so what else is new for Cheyenne, WY) will see if the temps warm up a pinch if not TM for sure, and maybe some Wii fit Plus, the running course with the wrecking balls looks like fun.

Will see what the day brings maybe a little wood working in the barn. Have a good one.

Good Morning!:goodvibes
4.5 in 45 mins on the TM, I'm thinking it was the new music that threw me off a little, or to much breakfast....:lmao: but feel gooood.

Jennifer~ I'm not in your running category, ;) I'm sure you'll find a crew to run with, I don't want to get hurt or worse

Went on-line and printed my final instructions last night, I notice they "discourage" headphones :sad2: anyone have experience with having to remove your tunes? :scared1:

Sunny & Cold today but heart is warm knowing I"M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD! :woohoo:

Time to crack the box :surfweb:

2 miles on the TM this morning. only 6 outside today so we're doing the machines.

Have a great day everyone! Taper mode for all of you!

Good morning, Hakuna Matata!!!

Jennifer - Do make arraingments with someone to pick up your packet. That way, you WILL have it! Here's hoping that everything works out for you and you get your packet and some goodies at the Expo!!

Denise - You will be sorely missed. Gotta love taper madness!!

Jack - :lmao: It's good to make others laugh!! Hmmmm, breakfast sounds good!

Scott - sounds like a great day, well except for that temperature thing! It's sunny here and melting snow...that's MORE snow! It snowed overnight!

Margie - Yup! Seven more sleeps and we are in the World!!!

Dave - I don't think my grrrrr is working just yet. I usually don't put it on until absolutely necessary...you know like Mile 20!

Vicky - They have lifted most of those restrictions on carry on baggage. They are asking that you layer your things so that there is a layer of clothing, and then a layer of neatly folded and arranged electronics or hard items (like a haribrush, etc)and then a neatly folded layer of clothing, etc. That way the scanners can clearly see whats in your bag. Otherwise, prepare to have your bag searched and tested for chemicals and pat downs, etc.

Well, off to work on my packing. Everything must be just right!
