Hakuna Matada - Joyful June

Hello team!

Rick - Congrats on your marathon!

Saylan - WTG on your race!

Stacey - Welcome!

Robbie - Congrats on your race!

Kipp - Good luck on your weight loss challege!

AFM - I had a pretty low-key weekend. We went to a house warming party on Saturday.

Went running tonight, it went well. The weather was really nice. Last week, it was so hot we had to cut a run short.

Thursday we're going to see Swan Lake. I'm so excited!

Tomorrow is the Venus transit, when Venus will pass in front of the sun. It starts ~6pm Eastern Time. It won't happen for another 100+ years so check it out if you can. Remember - don't look directly at the sun if you don't have the proper equipment! You can also watch a webcast of the event. Just google it to find a webcast or viewing events in your area.

Have a great night!
Emily

Hey Team!!!!

Kipp: Awesome news on the weight loss challenge with your dad that is great motivation and helping each other get and stay healthy.

Robbie: WTG on your race and what a improvement, just goes to show what dedication can mean.!!!!!

Stacey: Hey!!!! WTG on passing up on the street food and getting in some steps. Weight in day:scared1: I stayed the same AGAIN!!!!!!

Lynn: Wow you and Scott are really rockin the bike. Scott posted a photo on FB of the jersey you bought, that was awesome I loved it.

Vicky: Wasn't that weather crazy!!!! I mean we really did need the rain but wow it was crazy and can just imagine what it was like down at the beaches.

Rebecca: WTG:yay:, I so wish I did that race now. Might have to put it on the list for next year. I love Niagara Falls. What was the shirt like? I don't think I seen a photo.

Hi Emily, Dave, Rick, Mike, Kimberley and anyone else I might have missed.

AFM: Last night I did hot yoga it was amazing. I loved it!!!! I felt so great last night and a benefit I did not expect was my skin is so soft...don't know if it is the nasty toxins I sweated out by my skin is amazing. I expected to be a bit sore this morning as my flexibility in the hot room was unbelieveable but since I was fine I did my intervals this morning and tonight will do Hot Pilates with DD unless she wants to do Yoga then will do that again. The temps in the room was 102. It was amazing.

Have a super duper day everyone!!!

Kim

Morning all! Congrats all - this was a kick rear weekend for many of you - rick, mike, sayner - and to those without races too - great job!

while you all were running your hearts out, I took three days off bc frankly, I was tired; and it's been a stressful week - the issue I was talking about finally re finances finally is in the open - my husband's boss announced his retirement at the end of the year which means the need for my husband to find a new job - very stressful bc he holds not only one of our salaries, but also all the benefits. granted he has seven months to look, but he is in a very specialized field so it's a source of stress. that's why I wasn't sure we were going in january, but dh really wants to try to make it work - so we'll see. It's been in all the papers, NYT yesterday and I even saw it in the Chicago Tribune today.

I did get off of the waitlist for my october marathon, so I'm excited and very nervous about that - but really hope and pray dh will find a great job and I will still be there with all of you in january- pls send PD my way!

Good Morning Team!

Kim - I really liked the bike jersey (although the last thing I needed was a new bike jersey), he also got last years jersey that was yellow and has a giraffe on the front. They are from a non-profit agency, so we were supporting a good cause.

Stacey - Good job avoiding street fair food!

Kimberly - PD for your husband in his job hunting, and PD to you for the stress! Remember, regular exercise helps with stress!!!

Robbie - Great race report, and great job, great improvement from last year!

Emily - the Venus transit was on our local news this morning, I am thinking that here it would be too cloudy to see it, even if we had the proper equipment, so I will go with the NASA website and watch it there.

Kipp - Good luck with your weight loss challenge!

AFM - We got in a 16 mile bike ride yesterday, but Scott twisted his back, and now he is hurting, so I think we will not get out on the bikes today. I will use the time to get in a Pilates workout. Looks like it will be windy today also. Dogs have been getting their daily walk first thing in the morning now that it is getting warm early.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi, everyone,

Rick: Congrats on the race! Happy to read that you enjoyed your anniversary.

Saylan: Wow, what a goody bag! Congrats on the time! Glad that your knee is holding up. I'm certain you'll make 2:15!

Vicky: How cool is that Foodbuzz mention! :thumbsup2

Robbie: Great relay report; what an amazing improvement to your's and BIL's original time!

Emily: The transit of Venus event is already on our home calendar; wish I had some eclipse glasses to fully enjoy it.

Kimberly: Sorry about DH's job; my husband went through a layoff 2 years ago and it was stressful for the entire family. We were able to squeeze in a small trip to Disney (previously planned and paid for) and it ended up being a great time and just what we needed. I believe I read about your DH's boss; if so, I realize how specialized his position is but perhaps there is something available in the private sector for someone with his experience. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

AFM: Great run this morning. I wanted to keep going but I ended as determined by my training schedule. Trying to be patient and keep from re-injuring myself so that I can see most of you in January.

Good Morning Team!

Elizabeth - Sounds like a good run! Hope you enjoy the muffins.

Vicky - Hope it worked (whatever you were testing).

AFM - took it easy yesterday, Scott's back is still hurting, and I got lazy, the dogs did get their walk in, but that was about it for the day. It was really windy all day, today severe thunder storms are predicted for the afternoon.

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hey team!!!!!

Kimberley: PD to you and your DH, hope something comes up for him very soon.

Lynn: Sorry to hear about Scotts back hope he is feeling better soon.

Elizabeth: Injury free is definatley a good thing

Vicky: What are you testing ?????

Kipp: WTG on the Garmin!!!!!

Emily: Enjoy swan lake tonight.

Sorry short and sweet posts but at work and trying to post quickly so that big brother doesn't see me:mad:

AFM: Have done hot yoga and hot pilates this week. Didn't like the pilates, too much strain on my lower back. Loved the yoga going again tonight. I was suppose to go to Zumba last night but my knee has been a bit sore and zumba is not a friend to knees so skipped it last night.

Have a super day all

Good Morning Team!

Kim - Thanks Kim, he is slowly getting better.

AFM - Because of Scott’s back we decided to start with some laps around our street, Scott made it thru 3, then he went in and I went off down the road for some hill training. I ended up riding 13 miles. Severe thunderstorm with rain and hail last night, there are still little piles of hail at the base of the downspouts. We got 2 inches of rain in 2 hours last night, that is more rain than the last 4 months combined. We are expecting the same for tonight

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Lynn - I saw that pic of the hail! Craziness!!! We really don't get hail here much, but when we do it seems to be big ones that dent the cars. From what I remember though...it is usually followed by a BAD storm including tornado activity. Do you guys get those there like we do in the midwest?

Kim - What is the "hot" element in the hot yoga or pilates? I have heard the term before, but have never understood what makes it "hot"...lol

Kimberly - PD for you guys for a quick resolve on the employment front.

Vivky - Congrats on the Foodie "best list"!! That's awesome!! If I had more time I would love to create a blog where I make Disney recipes at home. I'm sure there's one out there, but it sounds so fun. I find that I always have to adjust the Disney recipes though...but that's what would make it different! Anywho...I posted more of your yummy treats on Pinterest today. I really want to try the lemon curd :thumbsup2

Rick - I have been MIA for so long that I completely forgot about your Avon walk!! Is it too late to donate? I know that sometimes the donation site stays active for a week or so following the event. Could you please send me a link via Facebook if I can still donate?

AFM - Not much new with me. I haven't been running or even walking for that matter. Gage and I had a nasty cold all last week and I have been battling some pretty serious morning (all DAY) sickness. That and the fact that I can't seem to get enough sleep! So yeah...no miles for me. I'm hoping the sickness passes after the next week or so and I can get back out there. I got a twinge of sadness today when I saw Kim post about race weekend. I am going to miss being there this year. :grouphug:

Hi team!

Lynn - Lots of pixiedust: for Scott! I hope he's feeling better! Back pain is no fun. I've been there and I know what it's like. Sounds like you had quite the storm. We had heavy rains last night but no hail. Were your plants or fruit trees damaged?

Kim - Glad to hear you like hot yoga! I got toe/feet cramping when I tried out pilates LOL Do you sweat a lot in hot yoga (like puddles)?

Kim/Lynn - I was just seeing whether I could post. Rick mentioned that he was having trouble accessing the boards so I did a test post. I meant to come back and post but never got around to it.

Elizabeth - Did you try the muffins? I'm hoping they worked out. I agree that going slowly is the key to getting back into running. You still have a ton of time before January so no need to rush.

Emily - I didn't have special glasses so I watched online. It was pretty cool! Glad to hear your run went well!

Kipp - I've noticed a few stores here don't carry NB shoes anymore either. NB has their own stores so I usually go there but it's annoying. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your BL competition with your dad :)

Robbie - Congrats on your relay! And how cool is that - you beat the Olympian :) That's awesome that you're going back next year! What kind of time do you think you'll be able to do?

Eva - Thanks! I was shocked that I was on the top 9! I also got a comment on my blog from someone who made the scones and really liked them. I was flattered  Definitely try the lemon curd! I have to warn you that it's addictive! We're going to miss you too in January :(

AFM - I worked out twice in the gym on Tuesday and Wednesday. Sadly I didn't go out for a run on National Running day. I'm going to try and get out tonight. I still have to get back into the habit of morning running

I had pretty good workouts both days - lots of weight training, metabolic exercises and I did a treatment on my right ankle. Yeah, the left knee is fine so something else has to crop up LOL

My latest recipe is for Six Grain Bread. If you like it, can you hit the 'buzz it' button on the top left hand corner. I'm hoping that I'll eventually make the top 9 again :)

This weekend, I've got plans for a 14K and an 8K run. Both Saturday and Sunday are suppose to be hot and humid. Yikes! So I'd better get into that early morning running groove really quickly or I'll be running indoors. Hope everyone is having a great day! :wave2:

Hi Team!

Kimberley- Great RR on the 15k. And congrats on meeting your mileage goal for May!! I’m surprised they had a late start and only had 3 water stops. If I am concerned about fluids during a race, I carry it with me for that reason. I also wish we had more long distance races around here. If I want to race a longer distance I have to drive at least 2 hours to get to one. Good luck to DH in finding a new job. Sending PD your way.

Robbie- Thanks for the RR! Congrats on finishing your half. You were very close to your goal so I am sure you will hit it next time. It sounds like overall there were more pros than cons. That’s too bad they didn’t have any faster pace bunnies. Congrats to your brother in law signing up for Goofy! I hope it goes well for him! Glad you and your brother in law had a good time at your race and improved your time! I’m sure next time will be even better for you both as you get stronger.

Elizabeth- Did you find a June 5k? I thought we had heard there were more bands for the RnR races and that’s why we were expecting more. I don’t know if the issue was the rain or because it was an inaugural race, so hopefully next year will be better. That’s great you signed up for 2013 WDW marathon! Looking forward to seeing you there! I hope your training goes well! I would have freaked out to wake up to fire ants in my sleeping bag!! And spider bites!!! How did they get in the tent? And I hate ticks as well. Sometimes I wonder how it is I even manage to go camping because I can’t stand the bugs, spiders, or ticks.

Vicky- Yes DL is our next race but there is a half in July I want to do as well. And it’s reasonably priced. Did you decide to do the 5k? That’s great your blog is in the top 9!! Congrats! How’s your ankle? Good luck getting back into the morning running! I know it takes awhile to get back into!

Lynn- Yes, I do enjoy seeing the sun rise when I run early in the morning. Glad you both had a good trip to Atlanta. Way to go on your bike ride and not having to walk any of the hills!! I hope Scott’s back gets to feeling better.

Mike- Congrats on finishing your 10 mile race, although it’s not good to hear you’re hurting and were having trouble walking after it.

Rick- Congrats on finishing the 10 mile race!! That’s great you had a good time with Mike and Liz. Happy Anniversary to you and Christi!! Congrats on finishing your first marathon!!!!

Kipp- Sorry to hear your weight loss isn’t going as planned. A challenge with your dad sounds like a great idea! Good luck to you both!

Emily- That’s great you’re taking ballet! I also took ballet lessons as a child, so if I were to get back into it, I would have to re-learn as well. Glad you’re getting your long runs in!

Stacey- Welcome!! Good luck with your training and weight loss. Great job avoiding the street fair food! That’s not an easy thing to do.

Dave- I hope you like your new health club.

Kim- That’s terrible to hear about the shooting at the food court. Glad you enjoyed your hot yoga class.

Saylan- Glad your race was awesome and you had a good time! Congrats on your PR! Great job!!

Eva- We will miss seeing you at race weekend next year as well! I hope your morning sickness goes away.

AFM, I have been training and running. I ran yesterday but have not today. I tripped getting out of my car and scraped up my ankle. Now it’s tender. Hopefully it doesn’t get any worse. It took all my strength to keep from falling to the ground, but somehow I managed it. Thankfully, I don’t trip or slip like that very often though. I received a job offer yesterday that I am currently contemplating. Going to consider it over the weekend just to make sure it’s something I want to do before I give them an answer on Monday or Tuesday. At this point though, it’s likely I will accept it. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

:cheer2: Weekend Racers :cheer2:

Good luck Rick and Mike! Can't wait to hear about the race! How many miles have you guys logged this year?

June
10 - North Shore Half Marathon, Chicago, IL - Rick, Mike

The good news is my achillies is doing much better and the bad news is I have caught a darn cold. So the next few days will be just work and try to keep out of the dead bug position.

I'm still looking at mid July as my return to racing competition and hopefully I'll have a pain free race that day. Each day is better and I'm seeing good progress so I"M optimistic that I can beat this.

If I feel up to it I'll do a some training miles in the morning. I had to canx my PT for this morning because of the cold, didn't want to make the staff there sick. Hopefully work will go smoothly and I can avoid getting in to close contact with the patients.

Sally and I are still thinking about the third week of sept for our next Disney trip, no race just park fun and rest. The week after I come back will be the state games so I'm hoping that the week of relaxation will make me race ready.

Hard to believe this year is already half gone, we will all be gathering at the Disney marathon weekend before we know it. Who will be doing their first marathon? How about first Goofy?

Train strong and be positive.

Dave:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - Thanks for the PD for Scott. We have had no obvious damage to fruit trees, of course, they did not snow much fruit development anyway. I have not been out to check the grapes yet. And congrats on your food entry! Good luck on your weekend runs!

Mike - Good luck on your weekend race!

Rick - Good luck on your weekend race!

Regina - Scott’s back is a bit better every day. Hope your ankle is better! Good luck with the new job offer!

Eva - Yes, we do get tornados, there were several last night north of us. Hope the morning sickness goes away soon!

AFM - Weather did not cooperate yesterday, so other than the dog walk, I did 50 min of a Pilates tape. Today it will be another bike ride, how far depends upon Scott.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Happy Friday all! :cool1:

PD to all in need.

Best of luck to those racing this weekend.

Sorry for the quick pop-in, at work and sneaking a few minutes.. :rolleyes1

I'm still plugging away with the exercise - fitting it in when I can. :)

Hard to believe this year is already half gone, we will all be gathering at the Disney marathon weekend before we know it. Who will be doing their first marathon? How about first Goofy?

WDW 2013 will be my first Goofy and my second Full Marathon 'race' (my first race will be the Chicago Marathon in Oct). I am really looking forward to it!

Happy Friday everyone!

I wanted to give Stacey a big :welcome: My apologies, it's been a bit of a busy couple of weeks lately and I just realized I hadn't said anything. Is everyone ready for the weekend? Any big plans? Stay cool if you're going to be outside training! The weather is starting to heat up again.

Rick - Any thoughts on the race for this weekend? Are you shooting for a PB or is it going to be a fun run? Good luck and happy anniversary to you and Christi!

Stacey - I try to fit in the exercise where ever I can - I'll try taking the stairs, going for a lunch time walk. I think it all counts. This is just me popping in as well because I want to finish up at the office and get the weekend started!

Lynn - Thanks  I should thank everyone here as well because you guys are always checking out my blog!

Is the lack of fruit because of the dry winter that we had? Good job on the walk and the pilates :) Continued pixiedust: for Scott! I hope he feels better soon!

Dave - Yes we're half way through the year but that much closer to January! Yay! I'm glad to hear your achilles is feeling better! I hope your cold gets better soon! Take lots of vitamin C.

Regina - My chiro gave me some ankle strengthening exercises so I'll be working on that as well. They're fairly easy and I can do them even while I'm at work. I'll probably tape my ankle up this weekend when I go running. Yes, I registered for the 5K last night. It was $60, a bit on the steep side but you get a shirt and the funds go to a good charity.

Congrats on the job offer! Keep us posted and let us know what you decide. Hope you're feeling better today. I was worried when you posted about you fall.

AFM - This will be another weekend of a 14K and 8K run (I think that's something like 8.5 and 5 miles). I'm hoping to see either 'Prometheus' or 'Snow White and the Huntsman'.

My latest blog post is on tips for new runners. If you have anything you wish you had known when you first started running, leave a comment on my blog here. Those are just my thoughts but I'm sure you have some that I might have missed. But make sure you post on my blog because if you comment here, no one will see it LOL

Hope everyone is doing well! :wave2:

Rick - Any thoughts on the race for this weekend? Are you shooting for a PB or is it going to be a fun run? Good luck and happy anniversary to you and Christi

Well, since I just went 39.3 last weekend, I am not going to overdo things for this race. Mike and I are treating this one as a fun run. My right shoulder/neck area is sore/inflamed a bit from the AVON Walk -- I think it might have been due to a bee sting (I am allergic to bees). That would explain the inflammation throughout the muscles in my shoulder/neck/upper back. Bummer! (Lucky it was only a single sting tho).

The weather is going to be hot -- 90 degree highs are expected -- so race start will likely be in the mid-60s at 7:30am so that is another reason to run smart on Sunday. It should be a fun race though. I admit to being happy that I don't race again until July 22nd (the past two months have been way busy!). I start my marathon training on June 18th which will be fun.

Well I finally got 2/3 of my race reporting done for the AVON Walk.:)

My overall reflections about the Event is posted here,

My RR for the AVON Full Marathon Walk is here.

I will post the Half Marathon RR tomorrow sometime. Then I Will be all caught up! LOL
