Not sure where to ask this question. Are you still able to get the hairwraps at the market place and the hotels. We were there in Aug and we loved them.

Port Orleans Riverside has it by the marina.It is just outside the food court.My daughters loved it and cut their out when the time came and still have them.

I have posted this before, but I can't help but do it again!! The
Conair Hair Wrap, ( Target, Walmart) $20, works perfectly!! You can buy refill string at Joann, Michaels, Walmart in the craft dept, it comes in a ton of colors and rainbow shades of all kinds, sparkles, etc. The string cost $3 for 300 yards!!! It is the same wrap they do in WDW, only with this nifty little machine.
The wrap is tight and lasts as long as you want, I did 10 little girls at a birthday party and some had them in a month later.

Much much less expensive than WDW and you can bring it with you to do down there so your little princesses will be happy!!

How much does it cost for a hair wrap at WDW???

I thought we would have lots of nieces with us next week at our WDW family reunion and I had planned on buying the 'machine' to take. Thought they would LOVE it. Now it's just my DD6 and lots of boys! Thought maybe I'd just pay to have my daughter's done at the Poly while we're there. Sounds like fun to wrap hair at a party though!

Lisa- the cost depends on your childs hair length, but it can get quite expensive- definately much more than $20. I have seen $25 and up for a single wrap! I have always said no becasue my dd had long hair and it was going to cost more than $40!!
The machine comes with plenty of string in 2 colors, enough to do at least 5 wraps, plus some really fun beads to put in as well!! Good luck!

I actually bought one of these at our wal-mart for $5.00. I have used it a few times but it is trickey!! I guess practice makes perfect. Do you rewrap the string holders with the string from michaels?? Or can you buy the disc to pop in the conair hair wrap thing?? Thanks for the info. Now to find the charms to attach!

I have not seen the disks sold seperately, but I just wind them myself and it works well. Yes, practice does make perfect, it was a little tricky at first, make sure you wet the hair well, and go as slow as you need, unwrapping and rewrapping when you make a mistake!! I am now a pro!! Good luck!

In addition to the other resort locations mentioned, you can get wraps by SAB at the YC/BC on weekends.

As for cost, it all depends on the length of your daughters hair. Our DD has a short bob and her wrap cost $17. The wrap itself costs $1.50 per inch (when they measure the length of the wrap when done). The wrap will usually be an inch or two longer than the hair itself. In addition to the $1.50 per inch, you pay a few dollars for the beads they put at the end. The more beads you choose, the more expensive it gets.

A word of caution. Be careful if there is a line of girls ahead of you. We had to pick the only busy night of the week at the BW when we went in May. There had to be 10 girls in front of our DD, and we waited for over an hour and a half. Ouch!

We may have to check out that Conair Hair Wrap thing. Of course, the experience of getting the wrap at WDW is probably most of the attraction for the girls.

We also found these expensive "on site" at CBR and the Poly.

In the UK we use BaByliss products for hair wraps and braids.


Not sure if you can get them in the US.

We were at Disney last week, and the hair wrap stations are EVERYWHERE. If you can't get your daughter's hair wrapped, you're not trying!

At Wilderness Lodge (the only place we really looked at the hair wrap stations -- my daughters both decided against it) they also sold "clip-on" braids. They were just strings 8-10" long (guessing on the length) with a little clip at the top. It would look exactly like a hair wrap once it was attached. These looked like a good deal to me because you know exactly how much they'll cost ahead of time, and they can be removed for hair washing.

Related topic: My youngest daughter got her face painted at MGM (they also had this at the other parks). It looked great, and she was thrilled. They have about 30 designs from which to choose, and most of them were $12. The girl who painted her face was suprisingly quick and did a great job.

We also have the Conair one. I haven't decided if I'm going to take mine along or pay to have it done. With the Conair, it's a pain to do more than one color. If my DD wants one at Disney instead, I think I'd pay to have it done. Once every other year or so, doesn't add up to a lot.

I did not think the price of the wraps was bad. Yes, it was $1.50 per inch, and beads are extra, but my DH8 has really long hair (the guy wrapping it actually called her Rapunzel when asking who was next in line), and it only cost me $19. I put a limit on how many beads she could have (she chose one fancy and a few others to complement it) and we agreed to have the wrap start from behind her ear, rather than the top of her head, so that it would be shorter. She had been waiting 2 years for this (she was too timid to get it when she was 5 and then when she was 6 her best friend came back with one and she has been waiting ever since), and we have been back a month and is still looks as good as the day she got it!

Just an FYI about the hair wraps...yes they stay in for a month (or longer) if you are gentle with it...but let me tell you - it's a PICKLE to get out!

it took me nearly 45 minutes to get that wrap out of my shoulder length hair 2 years ago...i was ready to cut the sucker off. When I finally got it off, my hair was so nasty underneath and at the top where the first knot was, was all broken and gross looking.

Of course I'll get one done again (hehehe) but I might not leave it in as long. A previous poster had a good idea about the clip on one...but for myself, I'd rather splurge and get the wrap done.

We were there in Aug. and my daughter an I both got hairwraps down on the boardwalk.
From out experiences the best place to get it is under your hair along the neckline. This is where I got mine. My daughter opted for on top of her head. Well I kept mine for 6 months and decided to cut it off and I saved it.
My daughters I cut out trying to release the hair. The hair was so gross that I ended up cutting it off so she wasnt able to save hers. Next time she will get it at the neckline to keep as a memento.
We have the conair hair wrap machine but will still have it done at disney.

My DD (10) had one done on the top of her head. It lasted over a month - closer to 2 months. Through hair washing, swimming, etc. We had the hair dresser cut it out when DD had her next hair cut. We knew we couldn't save the hair inside (we had been warned). The patch of hair is still growing out - it's about 4 inches long now. She doesn't care. She wants another one when we go back in September.
