Just received this email about a pool refurbishment at Aulani from April 13 through May 8. Looks like the water slide, pool and spas will be closed, but the lazy river and other pools will remain open.

To help you better plan your visit, we want to let you know that your stay falls within a necessary refurbishment period. From time to time, certain maintenance is required to keep our amenities and offerings updated and in line with Disney standards. As part of these efforts, the Waikolohe family pool, Waikolohe whirlpool spa, and Volcanic Vertical body slide will be unavailable from April 13 – May 8, 2026.

We invite you to make a splash at any of the other fun water features, including Waikolohe Stream lazy river, Ka Maka Pool & Grotto family pool, Keiki Cove children’s splash zone, Tubestone Curl tube slide, Menehune Bridge water play structure, several whirlpool spas, and the Ko Olina beach area. In addition, Wailana Adult Pool and ‘Alohi Point whirlpool spa will continue to be available for guests and DVC Members ages 18 and over to enjoy.

While we work our magic, it is possible that you may see or hear construction work, but rest assured noise should not be heard between dusk and 8 a.m. Please know your comfort and enjoyment are our top priorities.

Good news / bad news for my Feb trip. The good news is that the pools will be open, the bad news is that they'll be at the end of their refresh cycle so possibly in rough shape.

I'm going to be there during that time and I'm trying to figure out how impactful it would be.

What are the odds that the refurb takes longer than May 8th? I'm noticing a good amount of availability in Mid May but things are not as open end of May. I know June is a popular time as it's still cheaper and school is out for families, so maybe that is bleeding into late May--but I wonder if people are subconciously avoiding mid-may in the event the refurb has a setback.

I'm tentatively planned for a 5/18 arrival now but am trying to push it back to 5/22.

We were at Aulani in 2019 when about the same amount of the pool area was closed. The trip was fully booked and coordinated among a largish group when it was announced, so we had no choice. We had a great time and loved Aulani despite the pool issues. But we have returned twice since then and noticed how much more we enjoyed it with everything being open!

We have made plans for our first time to be at Aulani as well prior to the pool announcement. We have no idea what the impact is but plan on having a great family experience regardless.

Does anyone know if there have been any changes to the anticipated pool refurb timeline? We're looking at booking beginning around May 10/May 12. Very close to the closure!

Dates appear the same. The Aulani website has the following notice pop up when you attempt to book within the pool closure dates:
"From April 13 – May 8, 2026, the Waikolohe Pool, Waikolohe Whirlpool Spa and Volcanic Vertical body slide will be closed for necessary maintenance."

Thank you! We haven't booked yet (and our whole family is booking through the family member that's also a cast member) so I wasn't sure!

Here now. I wasn’t really concerned about the pool or slide use. But I’m not very happy about the loud equipment noise while trying to enjoy my expensive ocean view balcony. Do we ever get any compensation offered if requested? Like dining discounts etc?

We were supposed to be there last week right before the pool refurb and had to reschedule for the beginning of May (tail end of the refurb). Curious if you could share a picture of the construction so I know what to expect. Is the noise all day or just sporadically throughout the day? It's a bummer for sure, but still very excited to be coming!

I was there in 2019 during a pool refurb. Every villa got a 50$ credit. But that was very well advertised on the DVC website back then.

This is a thread from way back then with the info. It was a very long pool closure.

It’s been really noisy the past three days. Power saw and Jack hammer. Sometimes they stop for an hour. But I’d say it’s at least 6hrs a day of very loud noise. You can hear it everywhere. Had to use my AirPods at the beach. I might ask at the desk if there’s any compensation being offered. It won’t help with the noise but it’s something at least. We’re here for 12 days so I’m hoping the heavy tools will stop soon. But it seems they are doing work on the stonework so it might not.
You can see the fence around the large kids pool. And the slide without tubes is closed.

Thanks Flossbolna, I had actually been here during that time in Aug 2019. I had forgotten about the credit! I just called guest services about the noise and asked if anything was being offered to guests or if they knew when the heavy tools were being used. They had no idea about the tool use timeline. And there was no offer for guests. I expressed my dismay about the noise and that the level of it was likely not even safe at times for the guests on the deck.
She couldn’t have cared less…

Oof all that noise sounds rough! I hope that's only for a few days and that the end of your stay is more peaceful!

We have almost 2 weeks before we arrive so I'll hope for the best! 🙏🏼
