I am obsessed with beach waves as they call them - for my hair. I have really thick kind of crazy hair. It's not curly but not straight either. I currently use a curling iron but just ordered curler type things that I saw on instagram. They are called spoolies.

What do you like to do with your hair and do you have any tips to share?

I'm jealous. :p I'd love to be able to achieve beachy waves in my too straight hair. My hair has been tapered on the sides starting around my chin & straight across in the back for many years. I like keeping it that way, so I can wear it in different styles. The only way I can get curls to last a few hours is to roll it with hot rollers. Curling iron curls fall out too quickly. I've heard people say it's the opposite for them. I guess it depends on your hair type. Let us know what you think of the spoolies.

I always had the same problem, my hair not holding curl, but then my hair dresser showed me a technique where you start at the top of your hair gently rolling and sliding as you move down and then release the hair when you get to the ends. Theory being that your ends don't need as much press time as the top does. I know that probably is an odd description haha. That along with my new curling iron my hair actually stays wavy all day and then still looks nice on day 2.

I have similar hair, one hairdresser told me I had "bizarre" hair. Awesome!

I round brush my little longer than should length hair most of the time.
But sometimes I wear it wavy/air dried. I have had no luck with curling irons or rollers because my hair is too much for them, what size curler do you use?

Lol, bizarre hair is nice. My hair dresser gets a kick out of my hair. Two years ago I sold my house and bought a new one. Apparently it was more stressful than I had realized and my hair had thinned. I never noticed. I have lots of interesting things going on with my hair coming back in, I loo like a wild woman lol

I will check out my curling iron when I get home. Not sure what size it is but it's purple and sparkly :) I will try to figure out how to post a picture.

I have extremely fine hair, but a lot of it. It's medium length with a few long layers around my face. I either flat-iron it to give it a little bend at the ends, or I curl it.

The key to getting my hair to hold a curl (more like a wave, actually) is using the right tool -- a Hot Tools Gold 1 1/4" curling iron -- and the right hairspray, Kenra 25. I've only discovered those in the last five or so years, and they make all the difference. This is a quick look at the method I use.

My hair is long. It's either up or down which is dependant on what I'm doing.

Occasionally I go all out and use the curling wand on it

My daughter has Shirley Temple curls when her hair is short, I'm terribly envious of that.

That's a great tutorial and is about the same as the method I use except for the braid. I might be adding that to the mix soon though.

I am so jealous of people who have naturally curly hair. A girl who I used to coach on my daughters softball team had the most beautiful curly hair and she hated it. I always offered to trade lol
