Hi. Can anyone tell me the make of a good pair of ceramic hair straightners? I'm travelling from the UK at the end of April and mine wont work as the voltage is different. I want to order some over the net but just wondered what the best brands were in the US. Thanks

I have two wigo ceramic hair straightners , One thin one and one wide one and love them Both, I have used the store ones and they don't work on my thick hair . these are worth the money.

I have a Vidal Sasson professional grade straightener, but Chi's are also supposed to be great, however in both cases you're looking to spend $60-$120 dollars. Are you coming to stay for along time, or just for vacation? If it's just for vacation I'd recommend going to a travel store and buying a power converter and just use the one you have!

This is the exact straightner I own, and I purchased it from CVS as well. It looks like it's currently on sale for $19.99 (not including tax and shipping). I've had mine for over two years, and I use it every day. BTW, I'm headed to your side of the pond today to work out of our London offices and meet with clients. Hopefully, I'll be able to sneak in a quick trip to Harrod's :cool1:

I tried a power converter with my hairdryer and straightners and it didn't work. Nothing came out of the hairdryer! A collegue has friends that live in New York who will be able to buy them for me and post them over in the next few days. I have GHD's if you have them in the states but if not i'd like the equilvilant. They cost £100 ($180 i think). I travel to the states twice a year they will def be a great investment. Keep the suggestions coming! :cool1:

CHI is hands down the best. Use the CHI Silk Infusion along with it for silky straight hair. My hairdresser just used this combo on my hair last Wed. It lasted 5 days! (Sounds gross  not washing your hair for five days!) How do you all keep your hair straight in humid conditions? I live in the desert, so it's not a problem here. As soon as I fly across the country to the east I'm stuck with curly hair. I remember getting off the plane in Ohio and being hit with sauna like air and my hair went curly in a few minutes!

I'm from the UK and my GHDs worked fine with a travel adaptor in Florida last year, they took a little longer to heat up, but worked well and DH assures me it won't upset the straighteners being used on an adaptor.

Wigo, CHI, and Hot Tools are the best I think. For affordabillity Hot Tool would be best. I am a cosmotologist and love all three. Remember these get very very hot so use a silicone type shine on your hair to protect it. I like Beyond Shine. Hope this helps.

Aveda Anti Humectant Pommade. Mix it with your styling gel and then follow with small amounts to finish your style once its dry.

If you will have a car while at WDW, I suggest just taking a short trip to a local Wal-Mart and picking up a Wahl flatiron. This is the brand that I have. I've been very pleased with it and it is economical enough to purchase for a 1 to 2 week WDW trip. The CHI irons can be upwards of $100 (American) so I wouldn't think that would be worth it for a vacation-use-only type of appliance.

I just found the ONLY flat iron that has worked on my hair!

I have very long, very curly, very thick hair. Straightening it with a blow dryer and a round brush is impossible...my arms aren't that long. I have tried sooooo many flat irons (even the renowned "Chi") and haven't been satisfied by any of them. They either don't straighten, or they make my hair frizzy, or they burn my hair.

I've NEVER bought anything from an infomercial before, but I saw one last Saturday (early, early am) for the Maxiglide by Maxius, and the guy was doing hair live, and it looked like it worked, and there was a money back guarantee, so I thought I'd give it a try.

WOW! :earseek: It works great! It has teeth and steam, so it straightens each strand of hair, and the steam makes it really silky. Even when my stylist does a blowout on my hair, it doesn't look this good!

I paid $80 for it, and it was worth every penny. I don't know how you'd order it online, but if you did a search for it, it shouldn't be too hard to find.

:bride: <-- this is me, with straight hair!

I own a Hai and it's amazing!! It tames my curly, kinky, frizzy hair like no other. I bought it on ebay brand new for $75, but it's retails for $110+. Whatever you do, buy something high quality...it's worth it in the long run!

Boy, I learn so much from this site!

Why not try riding Tower of Terror? :scared1:

Just kidding... it's late Monday and I'm ready to get out of here! Have a great trip!!!
