Hello fellow DISBrides,

I am totally freaking out. I've been engaged for a year and a half with the original plan to get married AUG 5 2017. We tried to book our venue early, but they only book out at a year out hence tomorrow. We called to set up a booking time after having numerous conversations with them and they said "What time would you like to book the room? Time? We would need it all day to set up!" (had planned on setting up Prom Decorations cutouts in a ballroom to make it look like the BLUE Bayou at Disneyland). They just let us know we would only have 2 hours to set up before the ceremony starts....so now all the sought ought other venues are taken for our original wedding date. We have to change our wedding date to either July 1st or July 8th to book our other choice. I was hoping to have an Aug wedding so that we could go to Disney during value rates for our anniversaries... I'm so mad the venue left this fact out until today.... Now we are potentially less than a year out and missed our 365 celebration day. I feel like crying... I know there are worse issues in this world but for a year and a half this has been the plan....We have to book the 2nd venue tomorrow in hopes the remaining dates are snatched up. Could you DISers provide any advice? especially on the choice of dates. (How will this affect future anniversaries, honeymoon prices of things, and flights during wedding, etc)

TIA,

Julisha

The major difference would be that a July 1 date could potentially be caught up in the inflated Holiday room rates Disney institutes around July 4 every year. July 8 should be fine, though of course it's still peak summer pricing.

If the only thing keeping you from your original date is the 2-hour setup time at the venue you wanted, what about solving that? Most wedding venues only give you about that much time (some even less!), so it can be done. Many hands make light work—you could recruit a whole army of friends and relatives to help. Or maybe hire a local day-of coordinator with a team?

@lurkyloo Thanks for the response. We are hiring a day of coordinator with a team, but it takes more than 2 hours to set up the cardboard cutouts. The new venue inherently looks like what our theme is...Down on the Bayou. So less set up would be needed. 1st: Cardboard Cut (imagine blue uplights and blue overhead lighting to create this look) vs New Wedding site:

You could move it to the value season which is august 14-sept 22. That's even cheaper than the original time. I don't think you should be worried about your anniversaries being more money at Disney. Really, it isn't that much more per night. there isn't any other ballrooms available on august 5th that you could choose?
I also don't think the season difference will affect honeymoon prices. Are you booking a Wishes wedding? You can use the room discount for your entire stay, which helps.
