Just got back from a week long stay and we really did have a good time.

But, it seems like everytime we go we get more rude cast members in general (i know others have felt the same way) and people who plain have NO IDEA what they are talking about. We go about once a year, so we definitely have a point of reference.

Stayed at French Quarter. Which we love. We were even upgraded to pool view (awesome!)
BUT. We were going to book riverside since it was a bit cheaper and we like it as well. We did not book it because a big warning came up when we clicked on it that the pool was closed during our stay. So we paid the extra for french quarter because we like the smallness and also the pool area. We get there and we are just steps from the pool and the toddler area is closed for refurb. Apparently the toddler pool does not prompt a warning on the reservation.

I ask the front desk if riverside is opening anytime soon and they said no. so i say "we have no pool for our trip?>". the girl next to the one i am talking in rudely pipes in and says guests are not allowed to use other pools. I say something to the effect we will need to use another one since i have 2 kids under 3. she repeated herself very "snarkily". So basically 5000 people at port orleans,no baby pool. She said we have a number of pools you can use. (all adult pools)

I ask for a manager and say i just want to be able to go to another pool (even though its highly annoying, we booked port orleans mostly because we love the small size) i say i dont want anything free, just maybe something i can give or say to the guard shack to go to other pools. Not their policy wont do....she just keeps saying the only thing they can do is trans me to another moderate (one cheaper than the one i am staying in, also we just spent nearly 2 hours unloading the car and unpacking)

I ask for her manger, she was very kind. she offered a blizzard beach ticket. i said thank you, we already have one. i was very appreciative of the upgrade and just told her i wanted access to another pool without a hassle. she said it wasnt possible. she did offer 2 additional fast passes (which i accepted). i then said i would just lie at the guard shack and she basically silently agreed.

We have pool hopped in the past, usually if we were already at the other resort for something anyway. Years ago i wouldnt have worried, but they have really started questioning at some resorts. So we ended up going to the pop century pool 3 or 4 times last week, since we figured a value couldnt question too much since there are no table reservations. Pretty annoying to pack up the car with pool stuff, diapers, snacks, change of clothes and drive 10 minutes everytime to use a pool.

That was the most glaring example. the final manager was nice, but the first line person was quite rude.
We had a number of other similar experiences at the parks. stuff people wouldnt have gotten away with in the past. My friend that was linked on our ticket had the dining plan. she would often get her 2 year old a kids meal and ask them not to charge it to the dining plan. on the third day of 4 her credits were gone because they had charged 3 or 4 of the meals they shouldnt of to the dining plan. she had to spend a great deal of time getting things reversed. We also bought the 1 day memory maker through the app. It took 4 different people on the help line before anyone even knew it existed.

I know there will be responses like "if that is the worst thing on the trip, you are lucky", or "great, dont come again, more room for me", "refurbs happen" etc. Go ahead and say it, but you would be annoyed too. I understand refurbs happen, but taking both toddler pools down at the same time for both port orleans resorts seems short sighted.

I will go again, i still love it. But everytime i go i worry about a tipping point because the service is not really magical any longer. Even my friend who has only been twice said something to the effect of "i thought the service was supposed to be so good here????" on her very first day. Its bad when rookies are noticing it as well.

Pool hopping is only allowed in very few instances (DVC, POR to POFQ). What you did was against Disney rules and I wish you would have been questioned and escorted out.

Okay, I understand that you were disappointed about the pool, and I know you were not happy that the CM seemed to respond sharply, but pool hopping is not allowed. When pools at the Deluxe resorts are closed, there are no pool hopping vouchers for guests. Now if I understand correctly, you had access to a pool, but no the one you wanted. You were offered tix to a water park, but did not need them. You were given FP, but that was not enough, so you told the manager you planned to lie. And you think the CM's were rude?

I also take issue with your DDP problems. Your friend never checked to see if the kids meals was being charged to her plan? When you paid the boll, did no one look to see how to pay for the meal?

I must say that I think you caused some of the issues you are now complaining about.

so, i should have been able to use a pool at all?

Sorry, that is ridicolous. I paid for a moderate pool and "hopped" to a value one. I use the term hop in quotes as i was forced to because a resort closed all toddler pools without warning to the guests.

Did you seriously just admit in writing you do this often?

Was the large pool open? If it was, you don't have an argument. Pool hopping isn't allowed, period.

I'm sorry, but I'm totally lost. You couldn't use a pool at your resort because why?

Pool hopping isn't allowed and really totally understandable. I'm sorry you didn't know the kiddie pool was closed, but really you could have used the adult pools as well. Or if it was that big of a deal changed to another resort like they offered. Not every resort has kiddie pools as it is. I couldn't see them sending all of their guests to another resort when other pools were still available.

What you were asking for was above and beyond their ability to give it to you as it was against policy. Their attitude maybe could have been nicer, but they didn't do anything else wrong.

Totally understand your disappointment. It's too bad about the kiddie pool and the rude CM (definitely seems to be more common these days).

I have to agree with other posters. Pool hopping hasn't been allowed since I can remember. The CM's did nothing wrong and seems to me went out of their way to try and make up for it. Refurbs are a bummer, but a necessary evil.

I'm sorry some aspects didn't live up to your expectations. That's always disappointing.

i knew this would be the response.

i consider it a favor that i wasnt using a "pool they offered, but i didnt like"

My 6 month old would need to be in a float and my son would have his toys all over the side of the pool. Not even sure that is allowed.

I was very very kind to the people i spoke to. was very appreciative, and asked if they knew when the toddler pool was open etc. i was not begging for anything. i was super nice when they offered blizzard beach and told them repeatedly how kind that was.

the last lady even basically gave me a list of other hotels on site that did have a kiddy pools.

My friend had never been on the dining plan and trusted they would charge it as she asked them to. not to much to ask.

I think Disney should have found a way to accomodate toddlers (and their parents). Perhaps when they have to close the wading pools, the can get portable ones at the pool areas? Don't they usually give people the option of using another resort's theme pool when they close the themed pools at resorts?

If it had been us, we just would have taken the children in the adult pools with us. I would have gone to Target or a drug store and bought a float thing for the baby to sit in (since there was a car).

I totally understand being annoyed by the pool situation, but I'm a little confused about the dining credits. Did your friend pay OOP for her toddler's meals AND they took the dining credits for the meal, because it's one or the other. No one gets a free meal at a QS regardless of age.

I agree that most of the time the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing down there. When we go, we just hope to encounter friendly CM's and not have any substantial problems.

IMO they should've told you it was ok to use the POR kiddie pool. How many people would that inconvenience? You wouldn't have been trying to get away with anything had they just given you a pass or permission to use the kiddie pool over there.

Guests at POFQ can use the pool at POR and vice versa.

I read it as the POR pool was closed and they knew that so they booked POFQ but their kiddie pool was closed as well.

POFQ and POR are sister resorts. You can use either pool. Something here makes no sense.
