had a great time...BUT

I did tell the manager that in the future i wished they would indicate a toddler pool closing as well. in our case it would have changed our plans. she agreed, was sweet as pie, looked at my kids and said "i understand why the big pool wouldnt work for you". I have nothing but good things to say about her.

I would pool hop a million times in an instance like this and never feel bad about it. There are exceptions to rules. this is one of those times. i dont live in a black and white world, there is always some gray. i more than paid to be able to use a splash pool. it is safer for the kids and more serene for the other guests.

I wasnt trying to get something i hadnt paid for. i could have stockpiled the offered tix to blizzard beach. but i didnt, because i didnt need them and wasnt gunning for anything.

BUT. We were going to book riverside since it was a bit cheaper and we like it as well. We did not book it because a big warning came up when we clicked on it that the pool was closed during our stay. So we paid the extra for french quarter because we like the smallness and also the pool area. We get there and we are just steps from the pool and the toddler area is closed for refurb. Apparently the toddler pool does not prompt a warning on the reservation.

They don't see the need to inform guests that is because there is still a pool to use. Most people would just use the open pool. Seems simple

Glad you feel good about it. Rules are not grey but be sure to remember that argument when you child does something later on down the road that is against the rules like stay out after curfew or worse. They are only there when you like them after all.

i knew this would be the response.

My friend had never been on the dining plan and trusted they would charge it as she asked them to. not to much to ask.

Two things, the response that you are getting here is that no one agrees with pool hopping. I do not care if you go from Value to Deluxe in the hop, or moderate to value in your hop. Hopping is against policy. Period. We may sympathize that you were met with a disappointment, but the way you dealt with it is not okay with many of us.

As to the DDP, we all need to check our receipts. Witehr you pay with money charge back to the room, use a gift card or debit credit card, or you use the DDP. No one eats for free.

Sounds like a hassle. Personally, I would have just skipped pool time instead of packing up everything and going to POP. You have a right to feel how you feel but I get where Disney is coming from too. I used to work in customer service and I used to hate when a manager would let someone break a rule after I told the customer they couldn't do something a certain way. Seems they tried to accommodate you the best they could, although moving resorts after unpacking is a hassle.

Does seem odd that both toddler pools closed at the same time. Would think they wouldn't do that. Glad you have a good time otherwise.

I am really asking this in sincerity.

Should we not have had access to any kiddie pool the entire time we were there? That just seems crazy to me.

with 2 under 3 it honestly seems like a safety issue to me. They dont even have life jackets for my daughters size. i didnt bring one for a small infant because i wouldnt need one in a kiddle pool while she sits on my lap. i would have booked differently if i had know

Your timing was unfortunate! The POR main pool reopened on Saturday and the POFQ splash area on Monday.

A big pool is definitely not a good replacement for a kiddie pool with children that age.

No comment on the pool hopping, though.

To Poppins, What would you have liked to have happen? What would have been the magical pixie dust fix for you? I agree it is very frustrating when you spend time planning your vacation, feel like you already dodged the pool closure issue and then get surprised at check in!

Your post said that you pool hopped in the past - what were your excuses the previous times as to why the rules don't apply to you?

We have pool hopped in the past, usually if we were already at the other resort for something anyway. Years ago i wouldnt have worried, but they have really started questioning at some resorts. So we ended up going to the pop century pool 3 or 4 times last week, since we figured a value couldnt question too much since there are no table reservations. Pretty annoying to pack up the car with pool stuff, diapers, snacks, change of clothes and drive 10 minutes everytime to use a pool.

Maybe the unavailability of the toddler pool at the booked resort was karma, since you have broken the rules repeatedly in the past and seem disappointed that the new enforcement of the rules seems to be increased.

If you didn't want to move to another resort that had what you were looking for then honestly, yes. I know it sounds harsh, but look at it from the other end. If you were staying at a resort and this was allowed of all of their guests, and your resort pool was now overrun by everyone who wanted to use a kiddie pool wouldn't you also find this unacceptable?

It stinks you didn't know ahead of time, but if a kiddie pool was that important to you moving would have been your best option and wouldn't have required asking anyone to break the rules.

before i knew it was even not allowed...we stopped in at the poly pool after eating at kona and getting a dole whip. and we let me son splash in the baby pool and play at playground at coronado after pepper mkt. i wasnt a reg visitor til a few years ago, so never knew it was a big deal.
