Welcome back:D I've often wondered abouth the concierge service at WL. How was it? I think one of the main reasons I've never booked it is beacuase they don't actually have a lounge. Please do tell about the offerings. Thanks.

Hi,

I felt the parks were quite well attended while I was there. MK in particular was extremely busy on Monday 24th and fastpass was a necessity. I did notice that Epcot was fairly empty any time I attended there. As for security, there were the usual security staff searching bags etc. Seemed friendly and reasonably thorough. Didn't feel at all concerned about the security. A CM researcher actually asked us about a number of things, but notably asked us if we felt a bag search was necessary at WDW to which we answered yes. We felt that MK closed a little too early and Spectro had been cut back so we had one chance to view it while there and it was quite a job trying to see it, then dash over to Epcot for Illuminations - still managed it, but then missed our PS at Concourse Steakhouse for 10 pm due to poor monorail service. Was quite annoyed at the CM's attitude about that, but opted not to take it further.

WL concierge exceeded our expectations. We had a nice room facing the villas and just down the corridor from the presidential suite would you believe! We had breakfast there most mornings. They offered croissants, muffins, pastries, coffee, tea, orange and apple juice etc etc. It was never busy. I actually really liked sitting on the balcony area overlooking the lobby as we don't normally get time to enjoy the lobby when not in concierge - just never have the time - but it was very relaxing to and nice to see it from a high vantage point. The tables are low on one side of the balcony and higher on the other and they are spread out so you are not near other guests, so there is a degree of privacy. The staff are generally very helpful and top up the offerings frequently. There were cookies and gummy worms etc at lunchtime and a hot offering in the early evening from one of the restaurants. Later on was dessert, wine, cheese and cordials. They had cans out for taking during the afternoon.
One of the other benefits was that our purchases were delivered direct to the room as opposed to the gift shop.

We had the most amazing maid, Livis, who did a whole lot of towel animals - even ones hanging from the fan and a little angel above the bed. And she knew that we were three adults!

Turndown left our radio on and some choccies on the bed. Overall we felt we were in the lap of luxury. It was great, and well worth the upgrade price. We would definitely consider doing it again.

Any more details, I'd be happy to provide!

Sounds like it was a great time!

Did you book concierge or did you upgrade at checkin, and if so how much was the upgrade, if you don't mind my asking? And did the CM offer you the upgrade or did you ask for it?

Thanks!

I thought I may have had to ask about it but was fortunately offered it. It was $45 plus tax per night, BrianD.

Thanks, #1MMFan! We'll be headed there in May and I'm thinking about trying to upgrade to concierge when we get there. Thanks for the info!! :D

Forgive me if this has been asked in the past, but if you ask for an upgrade and get it - do they actually move you to the concierge floor or do you just get concierge privledges?

When booking our next trip, I wanted the Deluxe room but turned it down because concierge service wasn't included. If I could have "bought" the privledge to use the 7th floor but still stay in the deluxe room, I would have booked.

We were at WL March 8-16. When I checked in I asked about the upgrade. It was offered for $35 as an upgrade from our Courtyard room. When the CM started looking at the 7th floor rooms available we determined that the 5th floor room that had already been assigned to us was better than the 7th floor rooms that were available. I had faxed requests for bunk beds, good view etc. and we had those on the 5th floor room but the 7th floor (concierge) floor didn't have as good of rooms.

So we kept our 5th floor room and just added the 7th floor accessibility to our 5th floor keys. Then if we were going to our room we just pressed the 5th floor elevator button but if we wanted to go to the 7th floor we inserted our card in the 7th floor slot on the elevator. It made the process of going to 7 to get drinks, snacks etc. a litlle longer but we were fairly close to the elevators and the WL elevators run great so it really was no problem at all. We also still had nightly turndown service and the use of the concierges for PS's etc. It worked great.

Also, the balconies on the other floor are better than on the 7th floor. IMHO. Because the 7th floor balconies have solid bottoms. So, if you are sitting on the balcony or you room bed you really can't see out of the balcony. You have to be standing on the 7th floor balcony to see out. The other floors have slotted balconies so you can see out while sitting.

Do all the elevators go to the 7th floor? We usually stay on the Roaring Forks side. I can't for the life of me remember if that goes to 7. It would really be inconvenient to have to walk to the elevators by the front desk.

Both elevator banks go to the 7th floor. The lobby elevator hits 7 at the concierge desk. The Roaring Forks one is just down the hall from the snack/drink area.

Thanks! I'm getting more homesick by the moment.....
