I will be staying at OKW for 8 nights in a grand villa, Jan.25-Feb.2.

Any suggestions for which unit or building I should request? I like a nice view and close to the hospitality house.

I would just ask for "close to the Hospitality House" and smoking or non-smoking, depending on your preference. If anyone in your party cannot handle stairs, be sure to let MS know.

There are a limited number of GVs. You'll be limited to the GVs that will have check-outs on the day that you're checking in. So if there are 3 or 4 check-outs, the room assigner will put you in one of those GVs.

Asking for a specific building is a recipe for disappointment. They won't kick someone else out of a GV for you.

That works fine for studios, one and 2 bedrooms, but it doesn't work for Grand Villas, even if it is made as a medical request. There are many studio, 1 or 2 bedrooms that are on the first floor, so a request for one of those is pretty easy to meet.

There are limited numbers of Grand Villas and all but 2 have entries on the second floor of the building (the GV begins on the 2nd floor and goes up to the third floor). The GV that are accessible without climbing steps to get into the villa are wheelchair accessible.
So, if you are requesting a GV with first floor entry (or in a building with elevators), but 2 other groups have guaranteed wheelchair accessible villa, your request can't be met because all the villas that meet that request are already assigned.
Note: at least in unit 4815, where we stayed, only the kitchen and the master bath are wheelchair accessible. The upstairs bedrooms and baths were not accessible (makes sense, since you had to climb steps to get up there in the first place). There was a downstairs bath with a shower that was not accessible.

Building 48 looked far from the HH, but DH measured the distance on the trip odometer on the van we were renting. It was actually only 3/10 of a mile from HH. we walked it many times during our stay and it took less than 10 minutes, even for my MIL, who is over 70 and has some foot problems (if I tell you how much over 70, I might have to kill you). My FIL, who has knee and hip problems, took the bus whenever he wanted to go to HH or back. Building 48 was a pretty close walk to the Turtle Pond pool, which we went to whenever anyone didn't want to use a slide. That area had many of the same amenities as the main pool (like a snack bar) and was a lot less busy.

Hope you have a great vacation.

For my birthday celebration in Nov., I had requested a GV close to HH and got Bldg 49, which is as far from HH as you could possibly be and still be in OKW!!!! BUT (the good news)...it was WONDERFUL!!!! Very quiet and, as someone else pointed out, still not a bad walk to HH (took us about 6-7 minutes to walk it).The GVs at OKW are so fabulous. Have fun!

Don't get hung up on where your GV is. ANY GV will be great at OKW. We have stayed in them several times, and they are all wonderfully large and fun!
