GUY'S ONLY, HS car?

Born before 1960. I had a 1967 Chevy Bel Aire. It was definitely NOT cool. Here is a picture of a 1966 - basically the same - except mine was white. Very uncool.

Maybe back then but not now and especialy if you drop it. And you are in a movie from the 90's made in LA, hehheheheheee.

Born after 1960 (1969 to be precise)
My first ride (which was actually Dad's); was a '78 Chevy Blazer:
350 V8, ran on leaded gas, had the hardtop that came off over the rear seats and cargo space; 4x4, but you had to get out and lock the hubs, then put it 4 wheel drive inside, too.
Then when sis went off to college, I got the Olds Delta 88:

Except ours was a 2 door, blue with the fake vinyl top.

Born in 1960

HS drove a 1970 nova

Now a 2007 Dodge 2500 4x4 Diesel

born after 1960

Car during high school: 1967 Volkswagen Beetle (am radio with Deluxe rear speaker). 5 people rode to school in that car.

it was not cool, but it was free....my uncle was stationed overseas and could only take one car....so he left us the "bug" to use while he was gone.

now: 2001 Honda Accord V6

(but after high school, I was able to buy a nice 67 Mustang Coupe 289/AT.

before 1960

Didn't own a car until my graduation present which was a 1968 Camaro. 6 cyl 3 speed on the floor.

Drove a 67 Chevy II, 6 cyl, 3 speed on the column. Best part? Bench seat freshly Armoralled. Just take a sharp right turn and your date is right by your side.

We also had a 68 Buick stationwagon.

Born in '65 and found this car during JR year summer vacation:

'67 Pontiac Lemans, 2 barrel 326 CI, two speed tranny.... I go t it cheep because it had a cracked piston ring. That car sure had a unique sound, especialy when hitting about 50mph in first and frying the water pump bearing. Maybe I should not have used the cheapest $30 water pump.

I would hate to see what that car would pull in current dollars at the Barret Jackson Auto Auction....

Mikeeee

would be better if it was a 67 GTO...IMO

Don't get me wrong, most of us couldn't afford a new car either... I only got the car I had because a farmers wife wanted something "more sedate" and My Grandfather knew him, and negotiated the price. (I grew up in the midwest) My car was cool cause I could take five buddies out riding around. And it had bench seats for date night!!

What happened to the Mustang?

GREAT PIC!! I havn't see a Cuda in years. And good luck on that Superbird. I was searching the internet a month or so ago and found one for sale in Texas, restored to mint, but the wanted over 100K for it. (DW didn't even look up from her sewing machine when I told her! Oh well!!) My stepson is currently restoring a 1965 Lincoln with sucide doors back to mint! (but it is not going to be driven:sad1: Only for shows!:sad2:

O.K. Guys (no girls allowed!!) Since there are so many women/girls only posts (rants?) I though we could BAND together and talk abount something that is very important and near and dear to our heart and sole!!

Sorry, I've gotta hijack your thread. Who said girls can't be Gearheads, too?

Before 1960 (1 month)

1972 Dodge Charger - it wasn't really cool because it only had a 318 engine

Present vehicles:

1997 Chevy Z28 Camaro 30th Anniversary Edition LT1 6 speed (mostly garaged)
1996 Chevy Impala SS (daily driver)

What happened to the Mustang?

They sissified it. Ford tried way too hard to make it a muscle car. They should have just left it alone.

(By the way, you have more women on this thread than you probably realize.)

Ok...I wanna play:banana:

born waaaaay after 1960

This was my high school car. 1969 Chevy Impala, it looked just like this, same colors. It was actually pretty cool because it had white, leather bucket seats and an automatic "T" shifter on the floor. Today, I drive a 2002 Santa Fe

I have to crash this party! My user name on several other boards is MustangGal. :cool1:

Born post 1960 - '69 to be exact.

My first car in HS was a '71 Ford Maverick Grabbler. Not cool. My second HS car was a '79 Mustang - a little cooler.

My current car is my dream car, a '69 Mustang convertible. Definitely cool. :cool2: Restoration is currently on hold until we become debt free. Only $4300 more to go! And the fun begins!!!!
original specs 289, 3 spd manual - new specs 302 w/ T5 Racing tranny
This is not my car - mine will have much cooler wheels.
1969-mustang-convertable-front-thum.jpg

We also have a '67 & '68 coupe. We will probably only restore one of those before we being looking for a '67 ish Mustang fastback.

My mommymobile is a '93 Dodge Caravan. :sad2:

1. Too embarassed to admit.
2. Maybe a little at the time, certainly not now. However--it was brand new, and had ac
3. Ford Focus (and it's cooler than #1).

Not a car guy. Spend most of my income on WDW trips.:earsboy:
