GUY'S ONLY, HS car?

After 1960

1. 1976 Plymouth Volare slant 6
2. Cool, well 5 out of 10
3. Now 2006 F150 Supercrew

1. Too embarassed to admit.
2. Maybe a little at the time, certainly not now. However--it was brand new, and had ac
3. Ford Focus (and it's cooler than #1).

Not a car guy. Spend most of my income on WDW trips.:earsboy:

Not really a car guy either... Just wanted to start something that all guys can relate to (or even pretend to relate to, don't tell any GIRLS!)

Anthough I must admit there are some pretty coool cars showing up!!

Since I was born WAY before the 1960 date, All of my piror views of "cool" cars really didn't involve gas milage. (gas was 29 Cents a GAL when I started driving!)

Don't worry about being embarassed, when I blew the engine out of my Chevy, I had to drive my Aunts RAMBLER american for six months until I could get the money for local engine guy to fix it!! (oooopss I wasn't supposed to say that, don't tell anyone....)

I have to crash this party! My user name on several other boards is MustangGal. :cool1:

Born post 1960 - '69 to be exact.

My first car in HS was a '71 Ford Maverick Grabbler. Not cool. My second HS car was a '79 Mustang - a little cooler.

My current car is my dream car, a '69 Mustang convertible. Definitely cool. :cool2: Restoration is currently on hold until we become debt free. Only $4300 more to go! And the fun begins!!!!
original specs 289, 3 spd manual - new specs 302 w/ T5 Racing tranny
This is not my car - mine will have much cooler wheels.

We also have a '67 & '68 coupe. We will probably only restore one of those before we being looking for a '67 ish Mustang fastback.

My mommymobile is a '93 Dodge Caravan. :sad2:

O.K. you can be an honoary guy! good Mustangs. (that also means ya gotta buy the first round of beers when a car club meets!!)

After 1960:

Drove a 1992 Ford Ranger extended cab pickup.
Cool enough for the country town we lived in - not as cool as a bigger truck, but it was a truck, and that was what mattered most. :)
Now I drive a 1999 Nissan Altima.

My DH doesn't read the disboards but he had cool cars so I have to post for him. He was born before 1960.
In high school he bought a 1971 Dodge Charger SE like this, but his was white with a black top
1971_4_SE.jpg

In college he traded in that one for this 1973 version, his was red.
1973_2.jpg

He now drives a 2005 mustang like this, he added black stripes and changed out the grill to make it look like Elinor
2005mustang-convertible.jpg

He drives his 1973 SE he bought 3 years ago on the weekends and to car shows, it looks like this but his has a black top. I guess you could say they were all cool cars then and now!

My first car was a 76' super beetle.
I put "MY VW HAS ATTITUDE" on the windshild, yes I thought it was cool!
Now I drive... mainly 2007 Ford Explorer(black), when I don't take all the kids 1988 Ford Mustang(blue), sometimes 1999 Ford Bronoco(blue/white)... and when I have to a 2004 Ford Mustang(DSG) (w/ KB Supercharger)...
As you can see... yes, we are a Ford Family... and they are all V8's. Only 2 drivers (the oldest is 12)....... why so many cars??? My hubby is a car guy. We needed to get a second Mustang (88) so we can do car shows and cruses as a family (4kids!)...

I know what you mean.. my DW loves her Explorer. We bought one many years ago after she drove my Ranger when her Honda quit! (125,000 Mi!)

She liked being able to see over the traffic, and now will only drive similer vehicles. (we test drove an Edge, but it is too much line a car for her!)

I now drive a F150 Supercrew, but REALLY like the mustang.. The only problem is that I would probably get a few tickets..

Cool Cars.. later pirate:

would be better if it was a 67 GTO...IMO

Nope this one was nice and quiet for sneaking around. Easy on the gas for low budget high school days... and nobody else around had one like that.

Born in '65 and found this car during JR year summer vacation:

'67 Pontiac Lemans, 2 barrel 326 CI, two speed tranny.... I go t it cheep because it had a cracked piston ring. That car sure had a unique sound, especialy when hitting about 50mph in first and frying the water pump bearing. Maybe I should not have used the cheapest $30 water pump.

I would hate to see what that car would pull in current dollars at the Barret Jackson Auto Auction....

OMG, my boyfriend had a maroon convertible model!!! I named it "Jean Claude Le Mans." It was always breaking down on back roads at night. :rotfl2:

I was born before 60'.
My car was a cherry black enamel 68 Cutlass.
It was VERY cool as it had been a Smothers Brothers racing team car. Four on the floor with chromed dual barrel carbs and some very nice Mags.

Sorry, I gotta hijack this thread, too. My grandfather owned a service station in Hawaii. His siblings all were teachers, lawyers, and doctors while he went with his heart. My mom is a tinkerer and she can fix anything. I like to continue that tradition. ;)

I was born in 1967. I bought my first car when I was 16yo. It was my grandmother's 1964 Plymouth Fury. I loved it.

I met my dh in college and he turned me on to Studebaker's. He drove a 1964 station wagon. He also owned a 1964 sedan until he sold it last year. His mom still owns a 1948 sedan with those reverse doors. They were very active in Studebaker Driver's Club in WA state. When we return, I hope we can continue that tradition, too.

Oh, now we drive a minivan and a full sized van. lol

Rambler? Oh the memories! lol

My dad had one and drove us to school when we were kids. I still remember the hole in the foot area that he never fixed. :upsidedow It was kinda embarrassing, but thank goodness for transportation. lol

I grew up in NYC so NO Car and NO Licence in HS, you had to be 18.

That's just sad:sad2:

I grew up in the midwest. (60's) You could get a "farmers license" (slang) at age 14 through 16 (with drivers ed) that would only allow you to drive to and from school, and if you had one, an after school job! After 16 you could get a "provisional youth license"(?) (not sure what they called it) until 18 OR High School Grad! BUT I believe all that has changed since then!:car:

It almost made me into the "COOL" league, as the front seats folded FLAT with the back seats. My GF at the time thought it was pretty neat!! :woohoo: Sad to say it was a V-6 Stick, the V-6 part was unforgiveable!

Was happy to fix my Chevy and hit the road!!pirate:

After 1960... 1985 to be exact.
1. HS: 1990 Isuzu Trooper
2. Yes, it was just known as the Tank at my school... that car was a beast
3. 1998 Honda Civic (hey I am still in college)
