So while I no it's taboo to place a "price" on a collection, is anyone aware of a quality price quide for disney pins? I am relatively new to pin collecting (2 years), but I have been trading sports cards and comics for years, and have found it VERY helpful (as well as somewhat fullfilling) to know values.

I believe Tomart has released a Disneyana price guide in magazine format similar to their other collectibles price guides. I haven't looked on the newsstands for one recently, though, and I'm not sure when the most recent one may have been published.

The main thing is that the values on Disney pins are EXTREMELY fluid. By the time a price guide makes print, prices and values can change numerous times.

DH also used Stovall's Guide to Disney Pins but it was published in 1999.

Since the demand for Disney pins changes more than even Baseball Cards, it is very difficult to have an accurate price guide.

I would think that taking an average of ebay auctions for a particular pin over a time period of about a month should give you a pretty good reference of a going price.

I never look at my pin collection as having a particular monetary value though--I look at it sentimentally.

I totally agree, but just the same if you're anything like me you spend a fortune on this hobby. I am a pure collector at heart, but part of the collection is knowing there is some value espescially on the LE's I collect. Even on my Baseball cards and comics I only grab a guide about once a year, but a) it's nice to check price swings and b) it helps me figure out what I want to collect. Plus the prices are pretty unrealistic (ever try to sell for that , but it helps when trading.

Doug--UNREALISTIC is a great word for those price guides!!! My DH has a HUGE collection of sports cards (baseball and football), 10's of thousands is our estimate. Many still in boxes of original wax packs. He did sell a few rookie cards at opportune moments and made some good money--but selling to dealers you aren't going to get top dollar. They want to resell them and make a profit. I sure wish we had a few of those that he sold when times were tight to sell on ebay now!!! Ebay didn't exist back then. Oh how hindsight is 20/20!

We usually get a price guide about once a year also, just for the fun of it. Sometimes I cringe when I think about all of the money that is tied up in both of our collections (cards, dolls, bears, all things Disney, etc.) Boy, I could be Bill Gates Well, wishful thinking anyway!!!
