Can we bring guests down to the pool to use? We are going to be at AKV and friends will be in FL when we are. They are going to be in Orlando the day we arrive. We don't plan on doing anything but hanging around the pool and thought it would be great to hang with them. I know our room won't be ready so we can't hang out there.

By rule no guests are allowed - hotel guests only.
But it cant hurt to ask the front desk and see if it is ok...

::yes:: I agree with the previous poster. If the pool isn't too busy, they would probably allow it. But be sure to ask.

If the pool is particularly busy, then they would probably say no.

Is this one of those questions better off not asked?

I think this is one of those issues that only beome a problem if it is abused.
We have had guests hang at pool with us.

We have asked at the front desk on occasion about "guests".
On those occasssions we were able to leave our guests name at the desk and they were allowed to park.I do not recall if they were charged the parking fee or not.
We have also left a envelope with a key for our guest to use to enter our room and wait for us to return.

I have a similar question......My MIL lives down in Florida and wants to visit us for the day. We are going to hit the park early and try to get back before she arrives, but what if she gets there before us?

1. Can she park at the resort without us there?
2. Can she spend the day at the resort with us?
3. If we're not there, can we leave a key with front desk so she can let herself into our room?

The difficulty with just bringing a guest and not asking is that resorts will do random ID checks, and will boot people out of the pool area if they can't produce a resort ID, even if they're with people who do have valid ID for that resort. There have been numerous reports on the resort board of people having to go back to the room to get ID for one of their own kids.

To save their guests the embarrassment of having to leave, I'd ask.

Not doubting what you've posted, however, have you personally ever seen it done. I've stayed at all resorts, except BLT & THV, and frequent the pools but I've never ever seen that done to anyone.

I have, however, been privy to non-guest of a resort, not escorted by resort guest using pool facilities and bragging about it. (Which ticked me off to no end) How they even get in boggles my mind!

I absolutely have seen this done many times at SAB at BCV. We usually have to show room keys that are current and for BCV to get a wristband. If it's a very uncrowded time, they might not do this, but my experience is they do it more than not.

I realize that SAB is an extreme case, but it might be relevant here since the AK pool is also not eligible for pool-hopping.

Thanks everyone. I don't want to get them kicked out and embarrass us or them. They have 3 kids as do we. The boys all play together (4 of them). Being a Sat. I'm not sure how busy it will be. I guess I will ask when we check in.

So, do you guys think I should call and ask? I don't want to wait until I get there since she and her husband would have a 2 hour drive to see us.

I think the only two pools you'll have any issues with is Storm-a-Long Bay at BCV and the new pool at AKV Kidani.

I wasn't there but my parents were staying @ Yacht Club (cash guests) several years back and were asked to show resort IDs at Stormalong Bay once many years ago. My dad was slightly offended by it, thought staff was implying that they didn't really belong. But they were legit so of course nothing happened. CM thanked them...

PS- I also agree that during a not too crowded season you probably would only have an issue @ Stormalong or the new Kidani pool.

Only the lifeguard at the pool can ultimately answer the question and it will depend on the situation when you want the person to come to the pool. They can't tell you days ahead, they can't tell you one day ahead.

Plus there is only one pool at the AKV now until Kidani Village opens, so there isn't much space at the pool. AKL has always been one of the pool DVC members aren't permitted to pool hop to because of the only one pool and limited space.

How about hanging together at TL or BB instead? Or heading to DTD together to get ice cream from Ghiradelli's??

We stayed at VWL a few years back there was a group of girls who lived some where near by.
They were obviously just using the pool. Not guests nor guests of guests.

Also observed a large group about 8 people setting up a picinic on the beach by BCV's .They were getting ready to enjoy stormalong bay. They were telling the security people that they paid "good money" to stay at all star and were therefore ENTITLED to use all of DIsney hotel pools!

My group has been asked for Keys at Stormalong bay and BWV.
ALtough we are always there at easter so it is most often crowded.

I have also seen Disney security posted at the entrance to the BWV pool checking IID before people enter.

I have not seen that recently however.

At busy times of the day it seems as if the lifguards will check. It is most often very quick and i have never personaly seen them ask for all to show a key.

I think that this is proper to prevent "freeloaders".
This bring me to the issue of reseving chairs.
It is inconciderate to leave items on several chairs in a prime location and not returning for hours.
Iti is most often somneting like a flip flop a tube of lotion a magaxine and a baseballhat.
Lifeguards should mnitor unattended items and remove them more often.

Because we don't want to pay for 10 of us to go into TL or BB for a couple hours. Complete waste of money. DTD - not conducive to playing together or conversing while relaxing. We are on vacation and want to plop our butts down, let the kids have fun while we relax. BTW, the youngest of the 6 kids is 11. We don't need to watch them at all times.

The only pool I've ever been checked is SAB, and they do it pretty regularly there. No other checks at the other resorts.

I've personally seen uniformed Disney security do the ID check at the WL pool, and stand over the non-guests while they packed their things, and escort them out of the pool area. I was even asked for my resort ID while sitting on the WL beach once.

There have been numerous reports on the resort board of ID checks and evictions at several of the deluxe resort pools, and since CBR got the fancy new pool, there have been reports of checks there, too.

On a similar topic- can a DVC Member bring non-member but Disney resort guests pool hoping with them?

Specificly: I am the only actual Member in the group going in Feb., but my wife will be staying in my studio [duh!] and we have a second studio (both @ BLT) my parents are staying in. As long as I am present and since we are all Disney (+ DVC) property guests, can they hop with me (subject to the normal exclusions of Stormalong & AKV, not during peak periods or if the pool is full, etc.)?

If not, could my wife since she is in my room?

To the other extreme, what if my parents were cash guests in a different (non-DVC) Disney resort (such as Port Orleans)?

Yes, you and your guests staying at a DVC resort may pool hop together. Your resort IDs should designate *DVC Member*

No, only if they are staying at a DVC resort on a Member Services reservation. Not even if they were staying on CRO Cash reservations at a DVC Resort.

The public offering statement (POS) states that guests staying with the member are often entitled to some of the perks of being a member, such as pool hopping - if they are with you. So in your first case, yes, they should be able to go pool hopping with you because, even though they are not in the same villa, they are on the same reservation on points.
