Have you been on it? Do you like it? Is it the same as Tower of Terror as far as dropping?

I went on it once on Wednesday. I loved it and thought it was much better than TOT. There was a lot more movement in the elevators which I really liked and the scenes when the doors opened were fun and engaging. I used like the actual elevator part of the ride as TOT but disliked the basement theming. It's the same space but much better now.

We did it seven times during our trip two weeks ago. I was not a fan of ToT, and we couldn't even get DD9 to ride it. We both enjoyed GotG, and now DD says it's beaten CS as her favorite ride.

I've ridden it. I didn't care for it. I loved ToT. This overlay did absolutely nothing for me. I thought it was a stupid story line, dumb song choices, and everything from the queue to the ride was insanely loud. Like, level 11 loud.

I also don't care much for the movie, so maybe that plays a part. I just left feeling like the overlay did nothing to make the ride better.

I did think the actual ride movement was very fun and way different than ToT, but that could have been accomplished without this ridiculous retheme.

I don't need to ever ride it again. I'll hold out for ToT on my WDW trips.

My son and I LOVED it. My daughter who hated TOT HATED GOTG too. She just doesn't like the dropping feeling at all. Said she would never ride it again (although she said the overlay was way cool, not cool enough to ride ever again). If we could have gotten more fastpasses my son and I would have rode it 10 more times :)

So people keep saying the drops are different and are better, or worse (depending), but can someone explain in what way the drops are different from ToT? I believe someone on another thread told me that there were more of them. Is that the main difference?

There are more drops, and they seem more abrupt/faster. And since there are 6 versions, each with different movements, you will still be surprised and enjoy it more.

Imagine a yo yo. Imagine the ride is a giant yo yo. That's how it feels now...several up/down sequences. Lots of air time. No break between ups and downs. Almost bouncy. Brief lulls in the action to watch filmed clips. Then more up/down. A fake out ending where you think it's over, but nope. More up/down.

It's much more intense. I liked that part, but towards the end, I actually started feeling "off" and wanted the ride to be over. And I NEVER get motion sick. I imagine this is what it feels like on those weighlessness planes they train astronauts on.

I didn't want to like it because I love TOT and was upset they were changing it. However, I loved this as did my entire family! So much better than TOT!

I loved it and would have done it again if I had second fp

I want to say I preferred ToT but I never wanted a second ride ....it's pretty awesome

To say I was angry at Disney for changing ToT (my favorite ride) was an understatement. And to top it all off, the changes included Marvel characters which I have zero interest in. Are you kidding me?! I was not happy. :sad2:

Even though I was irritated, I told myself to go in not being biased. OK, I'll admit I couldn't do that 100% -- the outside aesthetics are hideous, I hate it. Loved the old hotel theme better. The que is ehh. But then again, GoG isn't my thing.

However ...

The ride itself is AWESOME!!! Did 5 of the 6 sequences. (Haven't done "Born to be Wild".) Much more entertaining than ToT. Especially because the DCA version of ToT didn't have the random sequence that HS does. My daughter couldn't believe I said it won over ToT. :faint: We all loved it.

I'll admit the ride itself is 10x's better.

I still prefer the ToT theming over this though. :)

There's no break but there are lulls to watch tv? Sounds like breaks.

And ugh. I don't want to watch clips. Sigh. My kid is going to want to ride this 18 times. And if I can ride dragon challenge at UO for him I can ride this. But ugh. I'm bringing earplugs.

There are no pauses when the ride is in motion, like it used to pause briefly at the top or after a drop. At least in the Born to Be Wild sequence I had it was like 3-4 ups and downs in a row, THEN it would stop and play a clip, then repeat a sequence of 3-4 ups and downs. It would shoot up and IMMEDIATELY pull back down so the entire ride down was airtime then you would feel slammed down into your seat and be shot up again immediately. That's what I mean by no breaks in the action between the clips.

The loudest part is the outside queue because they do this dance party thing literally RIGHT NEXT to the queue, and the speakers are literally feet away. It was horrible. There were teenagers behind me in line who were like "that music is way too loud." That's how you know it is loud. LOL!

And then inside the ride, the music is SO loud. My gosh. And the screaming on top of it. Just too much.
