Just a quick reminder to all visiting Epcot soon, that the flag recovered from the WTC- ground zero will be at the American Pavilion only through the end of February. If you haven't seen it, try to, it's very moving. As you walk into the main building, look on the wall directly to your right. The flag is in a frame.

Here is a picture of the flag we took in september on the 1 year aniversary.

This is one of the things dh and I are looking most forward to seeing at Epcot. I think it will be very moving. Do they let you take photos? This may sound weird, but when we were at the Smithsonian in DC they wouldn't let you take pictures of a flag that was from the revolutionary war (or something like that). They little sign stating no flash photography, said it would in time damage the flag.

I guess the above picture answers my question, we must of been posting at the same time.

No one said anything when I took a picture. I found that if you take it on a slight angle, you lessen the flash reflection. Actually, there is never anyone near the flag. I don't think too many people know what it is.

Thanks for sharing the picture for those of us who will not get there to see it before it comes down.. :)

It's along the same lines as to why you can't take flash photography pictures of the Mona Lisa at the Lourve - the exposure to the light will eventually make the colors fade (they are both kept in specially lighted cases)

I can't believe I forgot that the flag was there when we went this past weekend. We did not even go to Epcot.

We will just have to go back this weekend and see it.

Don't you just hate Fl residents. :jester:

I have pictures of the Mona Lisa...no one was there to stop pictures, and I was too young to know not to take them. Ren

Do you think it may still be there in March?? We will be at Epcot on March 11th. I would love to see it.

My parents and I went to EPCOT in June, but I wish now that we had delayed our vacation for July because I would have liked to see the recovered flag.

How can I find out the dates for the WTC Flag at Epcot? We will be there 3/1 - 3/8 and it would mean alot to my family to see it.

I have heard that it leaves at the end of Feb., but I will be there this Sun. & Mon. & I will ask. I'll post an answer on Tuesday.

Thank you for the pictures guys.

Very touching, and very much appreciated as unfortunately i will not get to see the real thing.

Thanx.

You can take a good picture with no flash in the room, there is good lighting.

I got to see this when I was at EPCOT and I was there with two NYC firefighters. I was so moved watching them look at it and remember (they were there). A husband and wife who retired and now work at WDW. I never even noticed that NOT ONE OF THOSE STARS representing our 50 states are damaged!
NOT ONE STAR DAMAGED.

Just returned from Epcot last night & Guest Relations tells me that the Ground Zero Flag will leave at the end of Feb.

Thank you for posting the pictures of the flag, very moving.

I'm so bummed I didn't know it was even at Epcot and we just came back! We didn't even walk into the American pavilion. Ugh, I wish we had. :(

Thanks again for the pictures.
