I have a question about ground floor rooms. Do they have an enclosed patio or just a slab of concrete? I want to have an enclosed patio/balcony so that I can leave the slider open but I don't want my kids able to wander off. We are staying at VWL, but I'm curious about the other resorts too if you have any personal experience. TIA!

Ours in May was enclosed on the ground floor and all the ones I can remember seeing at any of the DVC resorts were closed off not just a concrete slab.

BWV ground floor units are not enclosed balconies but patios.
If you need to protect little ones from running off, then you should request a NOT ground level . Since many wheel chair bound guests prefer ground level, this may actually work to your favor to get your request.
Perhaps: 'need enclosed balcony to prevent toddler runaways" wil catch the room assigner's eye!

I've had enclosed first floor at OKW and just a concrete pad at VWL & BCV.

At SSR our ground floor was a concrete slab and not enclosed.

OKW is an enclosed deck that is elevated maybe 6-12 inches off the ground. BCV is a patio, not enclosed. I do not know about the other resorts, as I have never had ground floor units in any of them.

Thanks a lot guys! I'll put in a request to not have a ground floor unit, at least for a few years.

You guys are great. :sunny:
