Any thoughts on the Grovsvenor? I have read some poor reviews but I wanted some other opinions.

Since I've been a member here, I have never heard anything good about this hotel. With so many other options in DTD I wouldn't chance it.

I've been booking people through Priceline into DTD hotels for around $50 a night. Check out www.biddingfortravel.com and go to Orlando area.

My husband and I had a very nice stay there in December. We had a tower room, which I've heard makes a huge difference. We split our stay between the Grosvenor and the Royal Plaza, and wished we'd booked the Grosvenor for the entire trip.
The staff was more pleasant, the room was bigger, and we had a refrigerator. Can't comment on the restaurants or transportation, but there was nothing wrong with our room.

I always have something positive to say about the Grosvenor and have responded here several times. I've stayed there twice (my second trip just last month). My son (15) thinks we should stay there every time we go. I always opt for the wing rooms since they are so much cheaper. My first stay was via priceline and this last stay with an entertainment rate.

We like the pool, the refrigerator, much quieter than All Stars (and cheaper), great transportation to parks, compact (not a lot of walking to get to buses), right next to Downtown Disney, great restaurant (even has character meal at breakfast) and lobby bar, participates in early entry, issues UPH (& allows you to drop 1st or last day), and friendly staff.

I also think you can get great deals with Priceline and recommend it highly but you aren't always sure to get a downtown disney resort. I like being sure of getting the same perks as staying on site.

I just logged on to type a review of the Grosvenor and saw this thread. My sister and I stayed 4nights, returning home yesterday. I have NO complaints about the Grosvenor. We had a tower room on the 17th floor on the Orlando/Downtown Disney side. The lobby is very nice and spacious, the 24hr food cafe is right there and on the other side is a bar area open later in the evening. There is a small Disney store on the lobby floor also and we were able to purchase my annual pass, a 4day hopper and our E-night tickets . The pools were very nice and even though it was summer I went into the hot tub. Staying in the tower, you took the elevator to the pool (P) floor and could walk there without having to go anywhere near the lobby. We requested extra towels every day because we took breaks and showered twice and the housekeeping staff was friendly and prompt. They do have pool towels. We didn't eat at their sit-down restaurant but we did go take a peek and it was very nice. The host told us it was Chinese Buffet night along with the regular items and we did look at the buffet, it smelled great. We had other plans so we didn't eat there. The buses were comfortable and the waits were not bad. Our drivers were very good at informing us where they would be parked, what times, etc. If you like to spend time in Downtown Disney, this resort has the closest walk, out the front lobby, to the right about a blocks lentgh, across the street and there you are at the entrance to the "new"toy store! We did take the Disney Resort buses home a few times. The bus stop was across from the new store with water fountains in the middle which the kids love. My sister and I did get a great rate at the Grosvenor and if it was a toss-up between staying there or having to stay at a value resort it would be Grosvenor.
