Grosvenor Resort was GREAT...Sheraton World wasn't.

We just returned from staying at the Sheraton World (yuk) and Grosvenor Resort. We used priceline for both.

We were very impressed with our stay at the Grosvenor. Everything was perfect. Our room was great. We were on the fifth floor (not the tower) facing DTD. We saw the fireworks over Pleasure Island every night. It was great. Staff was great, the room was very clean. Pools were perfect. The kids were entertained by renting floating devices (tubes/aligators) at the pool ($5.00/hour). It was all so wonderful. We are thinking that we will even book with them directly instead of priceline next time (this is saying ALOT).

We started our trip at the Sheraton. It was a dump. The room was moldy and there was the strongest smell of room freshener or something. Mold and water damage on the ceiling. Dirty walls, gross moldy bathroom. My daughter and I still have some sort of rash/skin thing that I am curious about.....It wasn't a good start to our vacation. The grounds were beautiful though. Too bad the hotel isn't smart enough to realize that some of us priceline guests actually would pay full price on future visits if we were happy with the hotels. I can't believe Sheraton will put their name on this hotel.

Any questions, ask away!!

Hi, I'm not familiar with Sheraton World (although I will henceforth mark it under "avoid like the plague"!) Where is that located? Were both hotels 3 stars on Priceline? I'm interested in bidding on a 3 star WDW hotel in the future, but not if the Sheraton World might come up. Seems like most of the ones I've seen on the biddingfortravel.com list were pretty good.
Thanks for the reviews!

Sheraton World is in the Sea World/Universal area. It is along International Drive. As long as you stay in the WDW area when you bid, you should be fine. They are both 3 star properties. I got the Sheraton for $40.00/night and the Grosvenor for $39.00 night. Good luck!

I'm glad your stay at the Grosvenor was pleasant. I'll be back there in early June. I originally stayed there with a priceline bid. Lucked up getting this hotel via priceline a second time. This time I wanted to be sure we stayed there so I don't want to chance priceline. I did however get a $59/night rate with the Magiccard. Since I need two rooms it works out great.

I like the compactness of the resort, the quick walk to Downtown Disney, and the transportation to the parks. I also like having a refrigerator in my room. No messing with refilling my cooler with ice.

CarolynNC,

What is the magiccard? I too would like to stay their on our next trip, and not sure I am willing to risk it using Priceline. The $59.00 rate you got sounds perfect.

You can find the magicard at www.orlandoinfo.com. The rate for the Grosvenor is $59 off season and $79 peak season so it depends on your dates. We're arriving 6/9 so we get off season rates for our week stay even though peak starts 6/12 (I think). There are a few blackout dates around holidays.

There are also rental car discounts, other hotels, restaurants, local attraction discounts, and local shopping discounts. I haven't checked the entire thing out but it was free and well worth the time involved to fill out the request.

My son picked the Grosvenor over a WDW hotel and having 2 rooms for about what I'd pay at WDW, I'm not arguing.

So glad to hear others are enjoying the Grosvenor, too. We really loved it and will stay there solely during our future visits. It's a perfect location, the ammentities are plenty, and the price is right!
