GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ewww I just saw this video on FB, I am not sure how to link it here. It was from aoa, if showed a housekeeper clean the floor with a mop and then use the same mop to clean the tables!
I will try to figure out how to post the link

It's a few posts down, under Gross!!!! And yes, it is. Thank goodness it (and the person doing it) appears to have been dealt with. Hate to say it, but I'm sure this type of laxity is more common than we'd all like to think about in the "food service industry". Hate to think or say that, but....And maybe it's not quite this bad, but "a little slack here, a little slack there".

Saw it and I as I said on the other forum, so glad we're getting what we're paying for with all of these price hikes. Only the finest. It doesn't really matter if it happens elsewhere. It doesn't matter if the cleaning service was outsourced. Disney claims to be a superior product and should take responsibility for making sure that's what we get. It's absolutely appalling.

Yikes.

Dare I bring up the need for Traditions to come back in its entirety and more full timers argument again?

I bet similar practices happen at POP... last time we stayed there, the dining room booths smelled like wet dog.

Just a thought, but do you think this does not happen at many places you eat? The two issues here are that this happened when customers with cameras were there, and it happened at Disney.

Pay someone $8.50/hour and expect them to care. Think of places like Waffle House; They cook food in the open for all to see. I prefer that to hidden kitchens where I don't know if they sneeze (or worse) on my food. I do expect higher from Disney, but this was a contracted employee #DisneyCuts who probably didn't care and figured no one would notice. Under supervision of others that also don't care about their work, I suspect this happens way way way more than people know.

It's sad to see Disney damage its brand in this and the many other ways they are cutting customer service. They have the right and an obligation to be as efficient as possible but in my opinion they have crossed the line into long term damaging of a beloved brand. I have not lost hope that the bean counters will be overruled by some higher management that comes to thier sense.

Well I've seen plenty of parents let their kids sit and stand on the tables and even change diapers on tables so I'm not so sure the floor is any dirtier than the tables are.
Seriously though, this obviously is not acceptable at Disney or anywhere, but I'm sure it happens all the time. I've seen people clean a dirty table with a rag, only to move onto the next table and the next and the next still using that same dirty rag. How clean could they possibly be making things that way?

Unfortunately, I agree (and having worked in the food and convenience store industry in years past), which is why I posted the comments I did above. Sad, but true. I can also tell you one of the stupidest things I constantly see is people doing stuff with beautiful new plastic gloves on, all nice and sanitary, then taking money with the same glove, then going on to the next customer. Explain to me how that works?

A few things that bother me about Disney's response.
1- That they say it is a third party. Does that make it any better? Gives the impression of "hey its not our fault"
2- How can they say it is isolated? Based on what? In the background near the cleaning cart it looks like there could be another cleaning person working. Obviously they saw what was happening and didn't stop it.
3- As we hear more and more about cut backs what other sanitary issues are there?

I think it is important that guests e-mail Disney World to voice concern about this.

They don't call it spin-shining for nothin' pirate:

ETA: "Disney has a higher standard etc etc" aside, don't look at your local health department's filings if you ever want to eat at a restaurant (or shop at a grocery store) again.

Ewww. I'm glad this is getting some attention and maybe things will change or there will be a rash of guest videos and pictures on social media calling out the offenders. Some people need to think they are being monitored to do the right thing :/.

That "wet dog" smell a PP mentioned ... I will never forget when my sister and I went more than 20 years ago and we dined at 50's Prime Time. The smell in that place was SO BAD that we almost couldn't eat our meals. It smelled like an old sponge that needed to be thrown away. You know the one that sits IN your sink because your family doesn't know how to squeeze the water out and it just gets musty/smelly and gross and probably filled with bacteria? Yes, that is what the entire place smelled like. It was so pervasive that I actually wondered if they were trying to be uber authentic and made the place smell like your own mother's old kitchen sponge because the kids (you) didn't take care of it properly. I wouldn't go back into that place for about 15 years after that. Thankfully, the next time was with a good friend and we sat at the bar and ate and there was no awful smell!

I haven't worked a food service job since high school, but back then I worked at Kenny Roger's Roasters for about 6 months before they closed. We only had one mop for the whole place. So the mop got used in the bathrooms, including the floor under the urinals, and then used on the floor in the lobby and even back in the kitchen. And we were all high school kids making minimum wage (I think it was $6.25 at the time?) so you can bet that mop was used on other things like the booths and tables. Oh, and when we were told to clean the bathrooms we were given that mop, a spray bottle, and one rag. No other supplies or assistance was given and I know for a fact some of my coworkers would clean the toilets first with that rag, then use it on the counter, sink, mirror, and baby changing station. My advice, based on my only experience with the food service industry, is that the outside world is dirty and gross and should be avoided at all costs.
