Hi all-

My DS is getting married next month and I'm supposed to be coming up with a list of possible songs for the groom/mom dance. Currently the only thing I've got for the list is Faith Hill with "There You'll Be". To be honest, I'm not the mushy, super sweet type person. When I got married I eloped, I consider "Freebird" to be a love song, and I make throw up faces (much to dh's amusement) whenever he gives me a romantic card or flowers. My family teases me ruthlessly about the fact that I don't have a romantic bone in my body and they are placing bets that I won't be able to come up with a decent list of choices for Groom/Mom songs. I hate to admit defeat so any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

One I have heard at weddings before and have had friends use for the non-super romantic ones is the "wedding song" by peter, paul and mary. I'm pretty sure that if my boyfriend and I ever get married he will use something like this.

It''s not overly romantic and since I will most likely have to beat him into these things, this probably would be a compromise.

Boy 2 Men has a nice song its like THE mother son song, but then you can show up your family that you picked a song!

My Fiance And Mom Are Using "my Wish" By Rascall Flatts

Showing my age, but .... Paul Simon's "Love me like a rock"... not mushy, just fun.

My father/daughter song was You Got A Friend In Me from Toy Story, and the Mother/Son song was Mama's Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys by Willie Nelson and Wayland Jennings.

Neither of us were wanting a mushy song to dance with our parents with. Those type of songs was nothing like are relationship with our parents. DH picked a song that meant something to them when he was a kid. You don't have to pick a song just because it has a wedding and/or mom theme to it. It can be something that you to liked to listen to when he was little. Just a thought.
