Grocery Store or Supermarket

Supermarket and that can mean any one of them. So if I need to be specific I will say what market I'm heading to.

I say "grocery store" but an acquaintance mentioned that the "store" part was redundant; that "grocery" would suffice.

I have never said supermarket. Only grocery store.

And I say "buggy" most of the time, sometimes "cart".

I use supermarket as the general term for that type of store, but usually I refer to a specifice store name, such as Shop-Rite, Acme, etc.

I usually just say "going to the market." That's what my grandmother called it and I picked it up as a kid and it's stuck.

I have said grocery store. Have never said supermarket. But now I just say Target LOL.

I usually say supermarket, but if I'm talking about the small supermarket around the corner I sometimes run to I just say "I'm running to Costa's," even though it's a supermarket too.

I guess I am the only one- We say food store. Sometimes grocery store. Mostly food store. I remember my grandmother saying that too.:)

Grocery store here. We go grocery shopping. I also think it's a regional thing. I'm originally from the Chicago suburbs and now live in Green Bay, WI. It's always been grocery shopping in both locations.

We go food shopping at the supermarket using a shopping cart. :rotfl:

I say grocery store, but mostly now, as we tend to shop every other Friday night, we just say we're going shopping or going to Target and Kroger. Both of my DD's say we're "going to shopping" LOL

I say buggy, too! A couple of friends who relocated to my office a few years ago are from Missouri and the first time they heard me say buggy they just died laughing. She said "It's a CART! And I was like, no, BUGGY!" I still laugh thinking about that conversation. :)

Funny mom always said she was going to the store. I've said it myself in my adult life an have had friends say they was going to the store.

Of course the store was the grocery store.

I say either supermarket or food shopping, or 'I'm going to asda'.

We use a shopping trolley.
