Subject: Re: Bringing food into the parks
From: "Walt Disney World Guest Mail" <guest.mail@wdw.disneyonline.com>
Dear C. Ann,
Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.
Small coolers (that one person can carry) that will fit into theme park
lockers are allowed.
Coolers will be inspected for glass and alcoholic beverages, which are
not permitted. Please be
advised that this is a general policy only. Security personnel will
evaluate each cooler
individually, and there may be instances when even a small cooler will
be denied. Sandwiches,
pudding cups, and milk would be fine to bring in the park; however, we
do not have a picnic area for
you to dine. There are park benches situated throughout the park, but
not an actual dining area for
guests who bring their own food/snacks.
If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.
Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number
if applicable on all
correspondence.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Julie Fry

Hopefully you can help me with some questions I have regarding your
policy on bringing food into the parks that has been purchased
elsewhere. I have searched all over your official site and have been
unable to find the answers that I need. I have found vague references
to "snacks", but to me a snack might be an apple, where as to a full
grown man it might be a triple-decker sandwich. Do you have any
specific guidelines that you follow in determining what is or isn't
classified as a snack?
While I understand that alcoholic beverages and glass containers are
absolutely prohibited, the area of food and other beverages is
extremely vague. Would a small cooler containing sandwiches, pudding cups and several small cartons of milk be permissable? Are there lockers
available in the parks where these coolers can be stored until we're
ready to eat? Also, what type of seating is available for those who
bring their own lunches into the parks with them?
Any specific clarification you could provide would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you!
C. Ann

Now it will be interesting to see what kind of reply DMRick receives when she returns from Ireland, as I'm sure she worded her questions differently..
So it appears that food from the outside (normally referred to by Disney as a "snack") covers a pretty broad area and there are in fact lockers available for small coolers - which will be inspected prior to admittance..
I should have been a little more clear when asking about the "eating areas" (should have said something specific about outdoor tables, but perhaps DMRick did) so as it stands now, there are "park benches situated throughout the park but not an actual dining area for guests who
bring their own food/snacks..

Make of it what you will, but it appears that they have come right out and said that bringing food and beverages from the outside
is permissable and not a single word was mentioned in regards to dietary restrictions, etc..
