We had an issue last summer with rodents getting into our grill after we used it. Needless to say I got rid of that grill.

It's very tough to find any type of grill thats airtight. An opening as small as a quarter will allow critters to get in. Has anyone else had this issue and what type of grill will keep them out? I may have to switch to charcoal. They seem more airtight. Although I love the taste on a charcoal grill I've used a gas grill for 20 years and have gotten quite good at it. I have a tough time regulating the heat on charcoal to roast for long periods.

Any help would be appreciated. The guy at home depot told me this is not an unusual problem. He's the one who said charcoal grills are more airtight. A nice charcoal grill is about $129.

Yikis! I never heard of that before.
I have a gas grill, use it year round and never had that problem.
Sorry couln't help.

Only 'critters' we ever get are spiders every so often, by the gas ports, they like the scent. I do not think any gas grill is going to be a snug fit, not safe.

Did you try covering it with a cover of some sort? We just got a $650.00 Jenn Aire grill, stainless steel, and hope I don't have that problem.

With our gas grill we never got mice, we had very tiny birds try building nest in ours. Luckly I use it so much that they never got the chance to finsh the nest and lay eggs. Once we got a grill cover that stoped the birds, don't know if it would help with mice though, as they would probably just climb the cover to get inside.

Buy a grill cover. Good ones have a drawstring at the bottom that you can cinch it down with.

Thanks for the suggestions. Since the little devils look as if they ran up the metal legs on the grill I didn't think a cover would deter them. I didn't think of a draw string on the bottom.
