Great Resort Rates on Southwest!

Where do I find this stuff on SW?

These crazy low rates were available Tuesday night thru Wednesday afternoon. Suddenly, late Wed afternoon, all the rates went back up. I haven't checked this morning to see if they've dropped again but it may have been an error that they were so low. ;)

Using Orbitz, yesterday I booked a garden view room at Poly for $131.40 + an additional 10% off (DEALPRO10) – grand total of $118.26/night + tax (-40%, -40%, -10%).

Hooray! What a steal!

After reading that these prices are probably mistakes I called Orbitz this morning and they said not to worry…as long as I have a confirmation number, the price quoted would be the price. They said Disney is dealing directly with Orbitz for payment. I feel better but still a little nervous.

Gulp! Should I be nervous? I have a confirmation from Orbitz. I wonder what they mean by "dealing directly with Orbitz for payment?" Like they were undersold and Orbitz must make up the difference? Hmmm....

I'm glad you got the great rate! I tried to book it but got the 'rate has changed' message :headache: If Orbitz says you are good, I'm sure you are. They are a reputable company and wouldn't want to have their name tarnished if they wouldn't honor the rates.

now I am torn. Upgrade to AKL and pay OOP for dining or keep my current ressie at POR. I guess I need to look at the prices of the meals to see if it is worth it. I am sure that other Diser's have ... any pointers? :confused3

when you book through orbitz/travelocity/expedia you are charged at time of booking. when you actually get to the hotel and check-in, your reservation typically does not have your credit card info on it because the 3rd party (orbitz/travelocity) sends your reservation w/ their own credit card (typically a mastercard). they have a negotiated rate hotels charge them for these bulk discount rooms and the hotel is allowed to charge their credit cards for room/tax at that negotiated rate only. typically, the guests are not supposed to see the final room/tax bill because the rates on the receipt are different from the rates they paid (i.e., if you pay $100/night on yoru visa through orbitz, the actual stay is like $65/night and charged to orbitz mastercard). This is how they make money on hotel stays. If there is a problem with your room, that is why you have to go through orbitz to seek any refund because the hotel never charged your card in the first place.

OK - I lied a bit... I wasn't actually off the phone yet when I typed it, but I was in a rush to get out the door so I jumped the gun. The Orbitz rep said she would give it one more try and she actually got through... she said she put in our request. I had two request... one for TWO beds since the ressie said "2 queen bed or 1 king bed" and I'm traveling with my friend. The other was for room location. The Orbitz rep said that Disney couldn't guarantee the two beds, but could guarantee the room location request. :confused3 Sounds backwards to me & I'm hoping that's the case because we really don't want to share a bed. I know Disney often guarantees beds since you have to pay more for a king, but they never guarantee location.

Anyways... she said now that Disney has our reservation we can contact them directly at wdw.cro.wholesale2@disney.com and reference the traveler name (not the Orbitz confirmation number) regarding any future requests. I plan to send them an email tonight to clarify the bed situation. It would just be awkward to share a bed with this friend & we'd be better off to stick with our original POR ressie if they can't guarantee it.

So I guess you have to contact Orbitz first so they can get your reservation over to Disney then you can follow up with an email. Good Luck!

Here is the reply I got from using the above referenced email address:

Thank you for your email:

Unfortunately this email address is for our contracted Partners and not for General use.
Please refer back to Orbitz for your specific needs.

Thanks,

Marcia

So I guess I'm back to square one... :sad2:

That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation!

DH and I decided to celebrate our Anniversary a little early because of these rates. We booked the Poly for 5 nights in September for $680 today through Orbitz.

I think I'm still in shock that we are going back to Disney and for such a great deal.

Congratz! Am I missing something here what dates are you going to get these great rates!!!!!

Unfortunately the rates went back up to the "normal" 40% off yesterday around 4:30 p.m. It was probably a pricing mistake but there is a good chance those who booked will get to keep their reservations. I doubt we'll see prices that low again. Congrats to everyone who got them! I missed out by just minutes! :(

Congratz, may I ask you the dates that you are going, I am not having any luck like the rest of you guys!

Has anyone ever used Southwest to book their entire vacation? Did it go smoothly? Were there any problems? Our dates are Nov 27 - Dec 5th. Southwest vacation is just a little bit cheaper than our pin. But i'm not sure as I am still holding out for free dining. :wizard:

psst...If you guys keep it hush hush, I will tell you that you can still book CBR and PORFQ for $75 a night on travelocity.com!

They are the only two Disney hotels that appear to be listed as 40% + %40 off, plus I heard code SMILE50 can be used for $50 off.

Good rates...I checked Travelocity yesterday but never saw those rates.

Well the charges are through my credit card, I have my confirmation numbers, and they all seem good when I look them up on Orbitz, so I think it's a go! I was also told that as long as I have a confirmation number, that is the price I pay. Sooo excited for those of us who got in on this!

Yup. So far so good for us too. We booked 2 rooms at the Poly and both were charged to the card already. It was an unbelievable deal. We're still gonna wait until July 5 (disney final payment due date) to cancel our FD ressies. Just wanna play it super safe.
