Great Canadian Diaries of YEAH BABY, WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!

Hey fellow NBers here as well, you are going to have the time of your life! Weve stayed at ASmo on past trips and you will love it,great hotel for the money,at least as far as it goes at disney, lol.Dont forget about the resort mugs and be sure to let us know how your kids did with the parks.
We're going from Feb25 until March 5 2009,our kids first trip to WDW. They are so excited .our oldest Devon will be fine with everything but our 3 daughters will be just 6 and im not sure how many of the rides we'll be able to actually get them on . Well 2 of them anyway,Lauren ,whos also the smallest has watched the DVD and checked out the rides on You Tube with her big brother and says she going on EVERYTHING,lol, Ill believe it when I see it.

Thanks a bunch! In fact, the picture of the farm is at the begining of my parents road. lol Not their property. I have always just loved seeing it every time we go in or out. It's so pretty! My parents have about 3 acres, with barn and 4 horses.
We are SO excited to bring the kids. This last July we brought the kids to NH where there are some amusement parks, lots of rides! They loved it, but really just wanted to do the little things and walk around and look at stuff. So that is what Im going into DW expecting. I just want to go with their flow. Brayden is 3.5 and is 43 inches tall (he is NOT a small boy for his age lol) and he is able to go on whatever he wants (of course not the thrill rides). Of course, he doesn't want to. We would seriously have to bribe him to go on Kali rapids even. Even though, chances are, Daddy will be bribbing him big time. lol Kiwi (her nickname) is 2.5. She is very mature for her age and I actually have less of a hard time with her because she is more easy going than Brayden. She WANTS to go on the crazy rides. She is a lot like me, and Brayden is a lot like Daddy. the boys are so technical in their thinking. They like to know what to expect before it happens. Us girls are the opposite. lol But Kiwi can't go on the rides. She is only 37 inches tall. She wants to be messured often to make sure she can go on the rides at "Disney Woawd" Her true hope is to go on the Dumbo ride and the Carousel. (trying to steer her away for Kali River Rapids and the other she will want to do) :rotfl:
the only thing we are concerned about AS mo are the buses. We will have 2 umbrella strollers with us. I think the kids will absolutely love it though. If you have any pictures of the resort you are willing to share, feel free to post them here. Love to see pics! :)

Well, I think we have decided to get 2 balloons in one of the parks and tie a letter to them and release them in Disney World. DH's grandfather died about 1.5 yrs ago. He absolutely adored his great grandkids. They were his world and we all miss him very much. We try to keep the thoughts with the kids since they were so young. So, I heard of releasing balloons into the sky and telling the kids that TinkerBell is sending our letter to him.
Also, my grandfather died when I was 11. My father was never in the picture and he was more than willing to always be around and take care of me. I just know that if he were still around he would be buying plane tickets right along with us to go down. He loved us grandkids so much and I know he would adore his great grandkids. I know they both see us now, but I need the kids to feel connected to them. Plus it will be the week before Christmas and it's always a 'tougher' time with the great memories. NO matter how long ago it was, I will always miss my grandfather. And I just loved Jeremy's grandfather so much.
We have a strong faith, and we know they are always with us in spirit. Hard to think that way some times when you just miss them so much. But... it is life...it's not harsh, it just needs to be understood.

So, I need to figure out where to do this... I automatically think MK. We have 8am res for Crystal Palace. If we get out of there shortly before 9 perhaps we can get a cpl baloons before everybody comes into the park. I wonder if they will sell them a few mins before 9 when the park opens. Anybody know how much balloons are?

On a lighter note... 61 more days!!!

I hope everybody is having a great Thanksgiving weekend. DH and I have officially been married 4 years. Our reception was a Thanksgiving dinner. We had everybody together...friends and family. Everything that we are thankful for in our life.
We have dinner at my parents tomorrow, then dinner at the inlaws Monday. YUMM! Bring on the Turkey!!!

Oh, and if you are looking for the BEST pumpkin pie.... M&M Meat shops if you have one locally. DELISH!!!

My countdown ticker shows 60 days 1 hour...blah blah... I want to see it go to 59 days before I go to bed. Alas, it is 12:30am and I must cave and go to bed.
I thinks omething isn't right with it since IT IS 1230am and it shows another hour left.

Ah well, coming on 8 weeks until DW! My heart just lept into my throat. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG O-M-G!!!!!!!!:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

How am I ever going to get to bed the night before (in Portland) and be up and ready for a 350-4am departure from Ho-Jos??? Is it COMPLETELY necessary to be there 2 hrs beforehand? Even if we check in online??

OK...no more thinking, power the computer OFF and going to bed!!!

alright, going through my schedule and this is how it starts off...

-24 hours

Our trip really starts Dec 12th as soon as dh wakes me up. Because... I KNOW he will be waking me up early in the morning as he always does when we have a vacation. He is like a kid, so excited! :rotfl:
We have to drive 7 hours from New Brunswick (we are northeast from Maine) into the big USA to Portland Maine. We have 2 toddlers, so pit stops will be required. We have all day to get there, but will probably leave around 6am as custom with our road trips.

First stop will be....
untitled.jpg

Ah yes, good ole artery clogging MckeeDees. It has been custom since I was a little girl. Road trip-McDonalds breakfast.

Along then we will probably end up stopping in Saint John. About 1.5 hours away for a potty break. Two potty trained toddlers...need to make sure no messes happen!

Then, as the sun rises... lol (keep in mind the sun rises later in December) we will be getting near the border. A concern of mine will be DH's record. Before ds was born there was an ordeal with his license. It was suspended for a year for unpaid speeding fines. There was even a warrant out for his arrest, which he very graciously drove himself to the police station as soon as he found this out. He still won't let those words 'warrant for arrest' slip out of his mouth. He is still in denial. Also, a little naive, he doesn't believe the customs officers will care if they found out. We have crossed 3 times since this. Im sure we will be fine this time. But it's always in the back of my mind kwim?
After we pass the heartpounding customs, we will stop at the WalMart on the border city of Calais. I am hoping they have these booster seats.
0004468122506_500X500.jpg

Right now ds is in a basic no back booster seat. DD is in a car seat that is just too small. Booster seats with backs are double the cost here in Canada. And we need 2! The seat belt clasps at the top and the head rests are much needed on our trip! Hopefully Calais' WalMart will have them.

maine_ref_2001.jpg

Then on to... BANGOR! Honestly, no offence to bangor. It bores me. There is just nothing that I find THAT interesting. A couple shops, a Super WalMart across the river in Brewer (our fav are super walmarts, there aren't any around here at all!)

But we are definitely stopping. Love the I-95 around this area. Highways just feel different in the US. We will probably be here by noonish. Have some lunch somewhere. Hmmmmmmm Denny's. We love Denny's!!
untitledghyu.jpg

YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Then on to FREEPORT. Now, DH is trying to tell me to wait until we are on out way back to shop here. He says it's a different highway than the I-95. This could very well be true, however he is notorious for making up little lies to see if I will accept them. Which I never do. But sometimes I have no idea if he is telling the truth or not. He thinks he is funny. Good thing I live him. :rotfl:

Freeport is full of Outlet stores. I don't want to do tons of shopping. Just The Children's Place and Tommy Hilfiger. I don't think there is anything else that catches my interest.

If you have never been, go. Gorgeous in the summer time. So very New England! old homes preserved to their true nature, but at that...stores are built within. Just beautiful!

Then on to portland. Now, First time I have ever been to Portland was in July. We were in NH decided to detour and meet my folks there for a night, then a night in Bangor. Great! Well, we got lost. DH with his trusty GPS. We didn't know where we were going... so how can the GPS know?? Well, lost, downtown, passing some building with A LOT of homeless looking people hanging outside. Of course, stop sign right in front..WHERE WE WERE STOPPED. I mumbled...." Hunny go...now... get us out of here we are on the Bronx of Portland!" We laughed so hard afterwards, but holy..did not feel safe! We finally found Maine Mall Rd. Did some shopping. This time around we will be staying at the HoJo's who offer a Park and Fly. Stay one night at $96 and you can leave your vehicle for over a week for no additional charge. This worked out to be a great deal when you compare costs of parking at the Jetport. Also, we get shuttled at 4am for our 630am flight, and coming back will be an arrival of 1030ish. So the shuttle will be great in this regard since worrying about lugguage, kids, jackets, and car in a garage would be a bit much for these hours.
DH says he will need to be in bed by 930. Which is reasonable given we have to be up so early. BUT!! WE ARE GOING TO DW THE MORNING AFTER!!! How am I supposed to get to sleep????

Also, I will have to pack 2 seperate lugguage systems. One for DW one for road tripping. LOVELY!!:laundy: :upsidedow

Well, that is it for now. We will work on The Official Day one in the near future. To bed I go to dream of Liberal vs Dion vs Layton vs May. Ok... Block Quebecois is there too... but... really.

To be honest, I have never voted before. It has been my dirty secret for far too long. So I am very happy this time around Im making the effort for my family, and for my country, and to take pride in all that we take for granted. My grandfather will be rolling over in his grave if he knew who I was voting for. But he would just tap me on the back and tell me to vote who I feel would do the best job. :goodvibes

To bed... HAPPY VOTING DAY CANADA!!!!

Ok, coming by to check update that we are PAID IN FULL!! WOOT!!! Of course, the Dlx Dining plan isn't paid yet. But those are extras. Anyway, YAY! lol

That Denny's picture is taunting me.

Always feels good to have it paid off, even with the bad rate.

ha the Denny's thing

we have been going for the 4th time and we always stop at Denny's and order the same thing. just to make sure we have a good start and hopefully good luck for our trip.

btw you said that your kids are having there bday down there? make sure you tell the front desk and tell them that this there first time down there.

you never know what might happen in your room coming from the parks;)

So we are 1.5 months out. It's going by SO FAST this month! I have a birthday party to plan, DW to figure out tentative schedules, packing lists to make for both road trip and DW trip, of course Halloween!!

I am also making strides to start up some business on eBay...I have been selling on and off for about 3 years now. I thought I should hop on board again with the low CAD which means more money coming from the US customers. ;)

ALSO, we have decided to scrap our DLX DP! Can you believe all those reservations! I will keep 3. 1900 PF for the day we fly in, Coral Reef, and Chef Mickeys breakfast for DS. I am actually very happy with the decision. I did the calculations with tips and EVERYTHING...between DLX DP and basic DP and then thought...it's still cheaper to keep the 3 I HAVE to have and pay out of pocket. No schedules! Also, CAD made the whole idea A LOT more expensive. So this is great! WE are finally officially paid in full (couldn't say that until we paid off DP..which we don't have to!) So... YAY! :goodvibes

I will be back later..next week is my guess! To Start up some sort of countdown. :) YAY!!!

It's too bad you cancelled the dining plan, but honestly if you don't mind taking time out to make the odd sandwich it will still work out great! You can easily have a counter service meal for supper and eat simple breakfasts and lunches. I have the regular dining plan mostly because I didn't want to have to count every penny on meals, just pick it out and go, and I wanted a table service every day. But really, no one eats like that normally.

I seriously need to update more, but I just found this link. After all of my hard work and pursuit to find a great website offering highquality desktops of Disney World...AT THAT...Christmas ones.
Here is a great link! Had to share!!

http://disney.rocket9.net/

Another link...full of links lately eh!
I am selling some Disney stuff on ebay...this is my seller ID. Just thought I would throw it out there.

This week I definitely will be getting on top of Official DAY of flight schedule! YAY!!!!!

So, a few changes since my last update...which seems like it was a month back. Oh wait..IT WAS! So no DP at all! And Im actually in good spirits about it! Keeping a couple ADR as you will see in the near future.

Alrighty, so the day we fly out of Portland Maine. Our flight departs at 620am. Of course we have to be there at LEAST 2 hours prior...which means we have to be UP at 330ish. Which to our Atlantic Canadian inner clock is 430ish. Riiiiight. That seriously doesn't sound one bit better! DH says we have to get to be really early the day before. I'm not the type to just lay down and go to sleep, I need to be tired...I BETTER be tired. I hope I don't nap at all on our road trip down. (Im absolutely certain I will!)
So an early morning which will definitely be cold...BUT we can't wear our winter jackets..Im not showing up in Florida with a down filled winter parka. HECK NO!

air-tran.jpg

So, this is our first plane ride together. DH and I have flewn before...but not while we were together. Kids have never. DS is very mechanical thinking. Nees to know why and how. DD...just needs mama. :cutie:

Also, not too sure what to do about Breakfast. I guess perhaps just get something at walMart for this morning. Im nervous about what I can bring on the plane. Like if I have snacks...i know nothing bottled or anything. But what happens if I bring... pop tarts or something?? I doubt any restaurants will be open at the airport.

We have a stop in Washington, onto a new plane (only 40 min stop) then arriving in Orlando at 12 noon. YYYYAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!

We are actually even excited for the Magical Express ride. I have brought the kids on a city bus twice in the last few months. They LOVED it. I know the ME is a more ...'luxurious' type of bus, but they will love it! Sitting up high and all. In fact, I would love if they fell asleep and have a nap! lol
wdwmagicalexpress.jpg

Then it's on route to All Star Movies. :yay: :yay: :yay:
We have requested the Toy Story Building as we have a preferred room. Granted, arriving at 130pm ish... Im hoping they will be able to give us a room!
toy_story_woody_holland.jpg

Somewhere someway we are going to want to change clothes, and hopefully shower! After that we are hoping to dash off to MK and hop on the Mono Rail. Brayden can't wait to see it! We will hop off at the Grand Floridian and look around for a bit, then go for our ADR at 1900 Park Fare for 445pm. I can't wait for this buffet!!!!!! Keyra has a gorgeous Cinderella toile crenilyn dress I got when the local Disney Store closed. She is such a princess.
untitled-1.jpg

Afterwards, if we aren't too tired, we will head to Hollywood studios to catch the Osborne Lights, then back to the resort for some zzz's.

I love reading the excitement in the first timers reports!

Subbing ...

[Like - I don't have enough to do in the next 20 Days!!]

lol! I know eh, same here. Between DS's birthday party, and packing and shopping for DW AND Christmas and did I mention PACKING??? Oh my!! I need to get my butt in gear and finish the other 6 days of our trip! lol Soon, very soon :)

1900 park -445pm

Sun 14th DAY 1-Epcot- 9-930

Mon 15th DAY 2 Magic Kingdom 9-9
The Crystal Palace with Winnie The Pooh 8:05am
CRT 410pm ----Im worried that there is too little time between this and LTT. Trying to get a lunch but it's near impossible.
LTT 825

You probably won't get out of CRT until close to 6 ...

With 2 little kids - you may want to rethink the DxDP - that's a lot of food and a lot of time spent in restaurants ... And you need to take afternoon breaks or you'll be wiped and have VERY cranky kids ...

Verrry long day ... forget LTT ...youll be ready to head back to the resort right after CRT ...

Tues 16th DAY 3-Holly Wood Studios 9-8
Hollywood and Vine 815
Sci Fi 1125
Toy Story Pizza planet

Wed 17th DAY 4 Animal Kingdom 9-8
Chef Mickeys 720am You won't make it to AK until about 9:30-10

Planet Hollywood 5pm You probably won't be hungry - and another long day ...

Thur 18th DAY 5 Epcot (9am world 11am) and DTD
Ohana 730 You're gonna kill yourself with all these early breakfasts and long nights!! :confused3
Tutto Italia 12pm
Spirit of Aloha 515pm YAY

Fri 19th DAY 6
Arkershus 1015 Epcot again, but this is the day we are flying out. So we need to be back by shortly after noon.

You may not make it back with a 10:15 ADR ...

I know you're trying to do a lot here, but I think you are way too optimistic and don't realize how tiring WDW can be ...

Think quality - not quantity ...

... and with kids, I tend to not make dinner ADRs - you don't know what kind of mood they'll be in or how tired they will be ...

So - my 2 cents:

Ditch the DxDDP and with it - Rose and Crown, LTT, Chef Mickeys, Tottu Italia, and Askershus (unless you can get an earlier time ...)

Sorry to rain on your party, but I think you'll have a lot more fun by spending less time in restaurants, more time in the parks, and a little more time resting ...

[Now - since I haven't read the rest of your PTR yet - if you've changed plans - never mind ... :rotfl: ]

Yes, I have ditched the DLX dining plan. Kept 3 reservations... 1900 PF, Chef Mickey breakfast and Coral Reef.
lol! Thanks for the post though. But we wanted to forgo the schedule and the cost.

Hi:wave2:

I just responded to your Transportation Board question. If you have any other questions, about AirTran, give me a PM.

OhMari

the only thing we are concerned about AS mo are the buses. We will have 2 umbrella strollers with us. I think the kids will absolutely love it though. If you have any pictures of the resort you are willing to share, feel free to post them here. Love to see pics! :)

With the umbrella strollers - bring straps/clips to hold them once they're folded up - it makes it really easy to handle when the kids aren't in them ... :thumbsup2

... and the only tough part you'll probably have with the buses is coming back to the resort at night: they'll be crowded and you'll have (probably) two sleeping kids ... :lovestruc

You may want to consider requesting a 1st floor room - makes it a lot easier with the kids ...
