Hopefully with the vast wealth of information here, that someone has done or tried to do this.

Can you get a piece of the Grapefruit Cake to go at the Brown Derby?

We are not eating there this trip, but would love to get a piece of the cake to go while we are at DHS?

Is this possible? To walk up and place an order for it to go????

I know at some of the other TS sit down restuarants you can get to go orders, like at Kona.

I don't know if you can get it to go at the Brown Derby, but I remember reading a month or two ago that someone said you could get it at either Writers Stop or Starring Rolls Cafe--I can't remember for sure.

Most restaurants on Disney Property will allow you to get your dessert to go...at least in our experience.

We go dessert to go at Mama Melrose, but we were eating there and couldn't eat it after our meals because we were stuffed. I've never tried at a place that I didn't eat a meal at.

I've done it in the past. Also received the recipe with the dessert. It's printed on a brown derby. Anyway, the restaurant was not overly crowded-the lobby was was not packed. I just asked if I could get a piece of the legendary cake, and they came back with it in a plastic container and 3 forks for us to sample and the recipe. I forget what I paid for it. Some on this board have said they don't like it; I, for one, loved it. It's light as a feather, and very refreshing.

I love this cake and we were able to get a slice to go after having dinner at another restaurant. YUMMY!!:thumbsup2

Some days they have the cake by the slice at Starring Rolls Bakery next door. The one time I was looking for it and they didn't have it, one of the cast members walked over to Brown Derby and got a slice for me. I was eight months pregnant at the time and had a craving for that cake, so I was very glad they were so accomodating!

I liked it, too -- just don't try to eat the piece of dried grapefruit they put on as a garnish. :scared:

Thanks. I watched a Food Network special the other night about Foods at WDw and they showed how they made the cake and so now I am jones'n to try it.
