Grant Writing Classes

Does anyone know where I could find them? We are looking to send some board members to some classes but don't have a clue where to find them. Any ideas or websites would be appreciated. We are in Connecticut. Thanks!

Check your local adult ed program. I know a friend of mine went to what she deemed "Grant writer's boot camp' over a weekend at UConn-I don't know if something would come up if you searched their site.

Do you have a local university near you? If so ask around about a noncredit adult program. The last university I worked at had an Extended Education program and you could take grant writing classes online and they taught the occasionally class in house.

Naugatuck Valley Community College offers one completely online through Ed2Go. Other places in the state may be affiliated with ed2go, but i think you can also register with them independently.

Definitely a local university. If you strike out there, see if there is a chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals -- they can steer you in the right direction. If you don't have any luck, try calling some other nonprofits for a recommendation.

I don't think on-line is the right way to go for a grantwriting class. I think the class give and take among students is too important. This is definitely not one size fits all. In some cases, a letter is all that's required while other places have to have a specific format.
