Looking for ideas for my Grandfathers 86th Birthday on their first and likely only trip to Disney World. I have booked and paid for Hoop De Doo on Oct. 1st, which is his actually Birthday, because he loves ribs and figured my Grandparents would love the shenanigans of the show. My MDE has only showed my c# number for this reservation for a long time. No picture, location or menu is listed but I've been assured by cm's my reservation is still valid. Well now folks are posting they are in refurb... Which is just great now that everything else is fully booked for a party of 8. I seem to have no other options to celebrate his special day!

If MDE shows a confirmation number, you are fine.

I, too, have a confirmed HDDR reservation for Oct 1 @ 4 pm booked at 180 days and it is listed in MDE. So unless I receive a notification email stating it as cancelled or modified to another time, I am not worried.

There is no announced refurb of Pioneer Hall. It is unsubstantiated RUMOR.
Relax & take a deep breath. I have a 4:00 ADR for 10/26 & I am not worried. As long as CM's are telling you it is fine - it is fine.

Can you provide links to where people said the Revue was closed currently or will be October 1? I'm seeing nothing about it.

I haven't seen any official indication that HDDR will be shutting down anytime soon.

Just today I confirmed our 4pm seating on September second and added our gluten note to the reservation as well as a note that it's our sons fifth birthday. If there was a planned refurb, it would be unlike Disney not to have said something by now.

Apparently some folks are having trouble booking the 6 pm show - it's just as likely that if shows aren't selling out they are playing with a new reduced schedule during slower weeks or months. I wouldn't sweat it.

It's hard not to be at least a little worried about my ressie. I keep checking the reservation page for end of Sept. and early Oct. dates and none of the times are available. But mid Sept. is seriously wide open with availability. While reading another Hoop De Doo dis board a posted stated they just spoke with a cm who told them about a refurb. I have not read anything official but everything is just not adding up. My MDE app doesn't even show a location for my reservation anymore... Just our names and c#, that can't be normal. I guess I will just hope for the best and see what happens

finally got a hold of someone who knows something.. was told it is NOW in rehab (is anyone there right now that can verify this?) they will not open the reservations fully until they are done. planning on it being until end of october . right now they are using just part of the showroom. strange. i asked why they are still running shows, and they say they still want to manage some smaller,, until it is unmanageable .

From the Hoop De Do board...

yes, it sounds like they are only using part of the room the show is in (which sounds odd). WHich is why reservations have been so limited and "sold out" so quickly. IF that is true then if you have a reservation it should be fine... you are one of the ones who got in even though they are only booking a portion of the room. Call to confirm if you are worried though!

Refurb doesn't necessarily mean closed. What time is your ADR?

I have a 6:15 cat 3 on Oct 1, that I reserved at my 180 day mark. I've called a few times already and was reassured by cm's but now that my mobile MDE doesn't show a location I suppose I should call again to confirm.

Ah, the elusive 6:15. Sure, you are more than welcome to call again, but I think you're fine.

Maybe scaled back means better seating? Wouldn't that be nice for your grandfather? :)

Well that's a great way to look at it about the seating. I think I'm just putting to much stress on everything going perfectly for them. It my first time planning and this is also my 2 boys first trip so it's a little overwhelming...

All Cat 3 seating is up a flight of stairs. There is no special access. Is your 86 YO Grandfather going to be able to climb a flight of stairs to your table? Also rest rooms are outside in a separate building. Which would mean another trip up and down the stairs. I hope that is ok for him.

I'm glad the OP posted what was read online and it looks like the show will go on! If your grandfather is not in a wheelchair he will have to climb the stairs but if he's in a more restrictive environment, just get there and have him do the stairs as he needs to.

Being 86 doesn't mean stairs are impossible. My husband just drove 10 hours from Georgia to Maryland to be with my mother-in-law for her 80th birthday. Today, she went to aerobics in the morning, is now walking along the C&O Canal with her great-grandson and two of her sons and takes care of an entire house all on her own. She beats me up the stairs!

I appreciate your concern and the heads up on the stairs. But I'm proud to say my grandparents soon 86 and 84 have no problem with stairs. They amaze me daily and my only hope is to give them the time of their lives on this trip. They are just as excited as my 3 and 5 year old boys and I can't wait to share our first trip together. I of course have scoped out wheelchair rentals if we need them. We plan to tour with them early, send them back to AKL midday and then have them meet up with us again for dinner and fireworks! :)

There was something posted about a new restaurant opening but nothing about Hoop Dee Doo

My reservation has never shown a location in MDE. I'm not sure what you want them to tell you?

They are not refinishing the floors, which was the briefly circulated rumor over on that other thread. You can't serve meals in a room if you are refinishing even a small part of the floor. Everyone, CMs included, seems to be grasping at rumors - a speciality of the DIS boards. ;)
