We are looking at purchasing a small dvc contract this fall after we return from our trip. I'm not 100% sure what resort we'd like to purchase, but I like the looks of Grand Floridian. We've stayed at Grand Floridian in the past but that was in the hotel, not the villas. We are former members of the club so we know how it works. I'd rather not do the whole sales pitch to tour a model room. I don't want to waste anyone's time (Polynesian and Aulani won't work for us). Is there any other way they let people tour the models? Thanks!

I don't know if the VGF models are still open since DVD isn't selling VGF or accepting new names on their waitlist.

You could stop by the DVC desk at VGF and see if they can show you a room- they might be able to depending on occupancy and cleaning schedules.

They had aulani, poly, and villas grand Floridian models at SSR preview center at the end of May-it's possible they closed them since but couldn't hurt to call and ask if you are interested. We told them we just wanted to see the Poly model since we were already DVC members and skipped the whole sale presentation. They took us in the preview center with a small group and we got to see all three setups

The Grand Floridian model is spectacular looking, very impressive. Maybe someday I will splurge on a 1-bedroom there, sigh.

I was there last month when we were staying in a studio at the VGF and went to the DVC desk and was shown a 1 bedroom model. We wanted to see one in person for our trip next year. So as of 4 weeks ago they had an open model you could ask to see.

They definitely are not selling any points direct for VGF or taking names on a waitlist. I have a friend breaking down their door and I referred her to my guide. He confirmed as well they are not taking anyone for VGF now or waitlist and I couldn't even add on if I wanted. It's all about Poly and Aulani right now.

Since the VGF model is still open, that tells me that DVD wants to keep interest up but they have to sell the "active" resorts. Could be that Disney only gives them a certain amount of time to pay back their construction loan.

Was it a room at the resort? If so it's not a model, but a room that is used for previews when it is not occupied. We got to see one at VGF that way too.

Disney filed paperwork for construction work at the SSR preview center. It may be for work to be done to the VGF model. I wouldn't plan on the VGF model being around at the SSR preview center much longer as they will soon need to start work on the model for WL cabins and suites.

It was the model at the VGF and not an available suite. He said they would have the model 1 bedroom for a little while.

They had a two-bedroom lockoff available when I was there last year. It sounds like they may have released the studio. But they still seem to have a room at BLT and AKV, so I imagine they'll hold on to the VGF room for a while, too.
