That’s exactly why I bought gfv2, because I want a luxury hotel room at gf resort and I am hoping long term I end up saving money. At the very least I don’t have to pay out of pocket for every stay and that’s a darn good feeling

anytime I took the monorail and we stopped at gf, I envied the guests staying there. Now I am one of those guests

That’s what I’ve been thinking - prepay your hotel room. And I’m sure they’ve already figured out what size monthly payments will sound like the best deal: “Oh, you’re staying at POFQ? Well, just think, for $xxx a month you could stay at the Grand Floridian!”

I would be thrilled, the lobby is unpleasant and in desperate need of a refresh. This gives the Grand an opportunity to match the beauty and elegance of her counterparts in Tokyo and Hong Kong which are far superior. I'm ecstatic.

Well, this certainly confirms that these aren’t really DVC “studios” but hotel rooms. Why not just call them what they are?

I guess Disney feels that calling them Resort Studios is enough to indicate that they are in essence rooms at the Grand Floridian Resort (not the Grand Floridian Hotel).

Same here!

The GF lobby is one of my favorite places.

Hopefully it's more of a "refresh" than a "re-design"

whilst improvements could be made, especially regarding the shopping experience I don’t think describing the lobby as unpleasant is a view commonly shared. The picture you have included IMO looks as though it would be well placed in one of the culturally fake hotels in Dubai or a cheap and nasty Vegas hotel.

Maybe they are making the hotel side renovated rooms the same as the new DVC resort studio rooms so that it would be very easy to grab another hotel side building and make it DVC ?

You're right. It's not a commonly shared view. Also most people on the Dis don't travel to Tokyo Disneyland or any of the Asian resorts either. You have no idea what you're missing. Pick any of them: Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, MiraCosta, Tokyo or Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. The Grand just cannot compete. But it should. So I am excited about this announcement.

I think the GF is certainly lovely (though I love the WL so much more), but I’ve been to all those other hotels (except Shanghai) and I can say, wow, they do really knock the socks off. It would be awesome if that same elegance were here in Disney World, too.

I admittedly take umbrage at calling them “studios” given they lack the amenities of a studio. They’re “rooms”!
