If DH and I don't book an excursion will we be sorry?? We were just planning to go ashore and play it by ear. Is there enough to do, shopping etc., to keep ust busy for a few hours?? Or should we book an excursion ahead of time. I know it's the last minute but help - as I read these posts I wonder if we should change our plans!

Thanks!!

Last year we booked Stingray City with Captain Marvins & loved it, but this year we decided to skip all excursion's in GC, as nothing else looked very exciting(to us).

So we will just shop.. we have to buy the Tortuga Rum Cake & explore.

...this way we dont have to rush anywhere & worry about waiting too long for the tender & possibly missing our excursion(if you booked something other than w/Disney).

For us, it just seemed like the way to go...

::MickeyMo Seven Mile Beach is the prettiest beach, sparkling white sand and crystal clear water ! Just take a taxi and have them drop you off at one of the hotels.Go early and then have lunch at the Hard Rock, where you'll have a great view of the MAGIC, then do some shopping !!::MinnieMo No problem getting a taxi when you're ready to leave the beach. I know alot of people enjoy Sting Ray city. We took the Capt Marvin tour. They were very friendly and it was alot of fun; however, I didn't want to get in the water w/ the rays and sitting on the boat( rocking back and forth ) made me sea sick.

I noticed you said that the rocking of the boat made you sick. Did you get seasick on the ship as well?

The difference between the ship (the Magic) and a boat that holds 50 people is tremendous. On the boat you will bob and rock and roll vs. the Magic where most of the time there is very little motion and then it's nothing like on a boat. They ships motion is slower, longer, "smoother" and the boat you're bouncing around like a basketball. I take dramamine to goto WDW and ride the rides. I've never been sick on the Magic (even in the 18-24 wave) and I have to take a double (maybe tripple) dose of dramamine to spend a couple of hours on a snorkel boat without getting deathly ill.

Now back to your regularly scheduled topic - what to do on Grand Cayman? We did the shipwreck and reef snorkel. Fairly short excursion with some great snorkeling (in the harbor in front of where the Magic is anchored). After the excursion we went back to the ship and cleaned up and had plenty of time to walk around the town.

::MickeyMo Misty 9960 : I've been on 18 cruises and have never been seasick....but on a small boat I get very nauseous.Seems like I never have my Bonine when I need it.::MinnieMo

I agree the view from the Hard Rock was gorgeous but be prepared as menu prices are in Grand Cayman dollars and not in US dollars. We were surprised :( at how much lunch for the five of us was. When we go in June we're either finding a local restaurant or going back to eat lunch on the ship.
