Grand Californian

Here's an interesting fact I just noticed. I've had a VGC reservation for awhile now and linked it to my Disneyland account as soon as we were able to. I check it every now and again to make sure it's still there. Today I checked it and they added when I can make park reservations. My reservation starts November 29th and it says I can make theme park reservations September 4th. It also says I will be able to do online check in on November 24th. Just thought that was interesting.
Wow, great find! Thanks for posting. Exact same thing here on two trips, with 86 days out. BUT - I have a late June trip and just checked. Even thought we seem to be eligible 86 days early, you still can't book past June 28th right now.

Fingers crossed. Hotel Bucket, here we come?

For those of you who booked the hotel with park tickets how do we get our actual tickets? I see my reservation QR codes in my app, but no tickets. Do we get them when we check in?
Either that, or they send them to you in the mail a week or two before your trip -- I've had them do it both ways on different trips, and I'm not sure why it was one way or the other. 🤷‍♀️

Made a GCH rez + PH tix for October, and it said I can book park reservations as of July 9 -- yeah, 86 days out. Huh. (Our stay is 6 nights, though ... weird.)

At WDW they don't let people visit the resorts (at least when we went in Nov) without showing proof of a dining reservation or mobile order. But since GCH is much more easily accessible through Downtown Disney I doubt they'd do that there..
No, they will check keys at the security gate in DTD.

Yikes was going to do GCH but now seeing that it is $850/night... that is tough to justify with shortened hours and no EMH... I still might do it though
And no valet, room service, or bell service. And when asked, they weren't sure they were going to be able to allow you to use a bell cart to take stuff to your room.

We’ll find out on the 29th; however, that is a security area so it would be easy to check for room keys. The same goes for the DCA exit...
The entry/exit to DCA will be closed. You will have to use the DTD exit/entry.

I didn't know that about the room service. I thought hotels were doing that in a sanitary way. That is seriously concerning, given how few dining venues are available and, for us, traveling with a wee one. Definitely "food for thought."

I think because the restaurants in the hotel are closed (only Craftsman's Bar and Hearthstone are open) I don't think they have a kitchen open to do room service.

I have stayed at quite a few hotels since the pandemic started (mostly for work) and not one single one of them has offered room service. I thought this might have more to do with a CA state regulation since it seems so universal. Most hotels offered take out service though. You could call from your room and order food from a limited menu, and then you had to go pick it up yourself.

We‘re heading to WDW in three weeks and only a few resort hotels there have restarted in room dining. We’re staying at the Contemporary and they haven’t restarted. I know that the Grand Floridian has. It will probably be a while before the DL resorts restart in room dining.

The places we have stayed it has been similar. We have been using Postmates to have meals delivered.

The official GCH page says the following:

  • Bell Services will deliver luggage to rooms, but will not escort Guests

Also, it doesn't say that the private DCA entry will be unavailable, and considering that is a major perk of this resort, I can't see why it would be closed to resort guest use.

I was on the phone with them today to ask about checking luggage with the front desk. While they did not have an answer for that, the CM mentioned that the DCA gate from GCH will be an exit only. You will not be able to enter DCA from GCH.

My theory is that they want to restrict the health screenings to a few locations.

I hope that is true. They never escort guests, you go to the room and they bring the bags up. I called to ask about valet parking to one of the coordinators at the hotel, and it was explained we would be self parking, but explained where they would have me park. They then advised bell services wouldn't be available. And they advised we wouldn't be able to access DCA from the hotel entrance. It makes sense if you can exit that way though. I guess I will call again on Monday.

They have already said the hotel restaurants are limited to.only those staying at the hotel.
